  1. ....but how can you resist those eyes Perse.
  2. Agree with you indigirl.I have larger sighthounds as in greyhounds that are definately more robust but still have that thin skin that would tear with an over excited 6 month old sibe. It's wonderful that you are considering a rescue but just thinking maybe a whippet may not be the go for you.Good luck with it.
  3. Yes agree with you Mags it has taken me a long time to get Maddie to realise the world is not such a scary thing. She is very timid and will run away and wet herself at raised voices. She has issues when walking on lead but with the help of a DOLer we are working through this slowly and she is showing improvement every day.
  4. That is sad for your boy snippet neither will my friends rescue grey who has PRA.
  5. Not sure how my girl would go in the kennels either. They are being boarded this weekend so it will be interesting to see how she goes.I think Stan would pass the requirements but not sure about Maddie.
  6. Oh no Staffyluv I'm so sorry you have lost your old mate Ollie. Run free champ you will be missed.
  7. I found a cav wandering through the motel I work at on Sat with lead attached. The motel has a very busy road at the front and the beach at the back.He was a dear little thing and his name tag said Minty with a number.I wandered around the beach for a while and no one seemed to own him and just as I was about to ring the number a women sitting on a beach chair says oh that's my Minty where was he?Stupid woman didn't even realise he had wandered off.I explained to her that Minty was about to become a mint pattie and maybe she should keep an eye on him as the road is very dangerous. She was just laughing and saying how he always takes himself on "his own little walks".I just walked away shaking my head.No brains and happy without em.
  8. Wherever they feel like sitting I'm afraid. I got another lounge not long ago hoping they would both lay on that but they now have a lounge each apparantly.
  9. Fantastic news.Keep enjoying your holiday I'm sure Earl will smother you all with kisses when you get home.
  10. Got my Reject Shop slow feeder bowl today and for the first time Stan and Maddie finished dinner at the same time!It slowed him down a lot.The look of confusion on his face when he hooked in with his usual gusto only to nearly knock his front teeth out on the bumpy things was priceless. They are quite solid and with little rubber stoppers on the bottom and for 3 bucks bloody bargain. Thanks for the tip DA.
  11. I could swear you were talking about my two amypie you have just described them to a tee.Welcome to DOL RDD.I was always a solo dog owner but have been lucky to only work part time and am home a lot so I fostered greyhounds. When my girl came along I adopted her as well.I never thought I would have two dogs and now I have I've never been happier.Good luck.
  12. Someone gave that to me after I had to part with my old girl Ricky this year. She was nearly 17 and it helped me to realise how lucky I was that she got to such a grand age because so many beloved dogs don't. They don't live long enough if you ask me. Why the hell does a cockatoo need to live to 80 or a tortoise to 150 when old in some dogs can be only 8? I know we never seem to have them long enough do we.The book was also given to me as a gift not long before I lost my old boy aged 16.
  13. I took Stan to the vet recently for his updated vaccs.I also took Miss Maddie for the ride.A young girl(maybe9 or 10)had just had her dog PTS and was understandably devastated as was her mum. They walked out into the waiting room the young girl with an empty crate and sat down with the crate on her lap.My heart broke for them both.I had been there and had no words for them.Maddies tail wagged ever so slowly as she took a few steps and licked the young girls face. The little girl cupped Maddie's face and smiled.Did Maddie know what happened,I doubt it she just wanted to lick that little girls face.I apologised to her mum not knowing if we had overstepped the line and she smiled and said no that's wonderful.I love my girl even more for that.
  14. Me finks farmer Dave needs to find a wife that knows how to use spell check I gave up looking What about being AN pilot or a druck driver!Who is this goose?
  15. I have a beautiful book called "Old Dogs are the best dogs"by Gene Weingarten. It is a tribute to old dogs,a celebration of their special virtues. Each page has a black and white portrait and their story. For anyone that has loved an old dog this is a special book.
  16. Thanks for that I'll head in to see if mine has them.
  17. Same here. They can't be too stupid cause they know they aint gonna outrun my two.
  18. Always been a solo dog owner my last heart dog for 16 years. I started fostering greyhounds in Aug last year never thinking I would have another dog and now I have two divine greyhounds.ALWAYS been a one dog person and now I have two and I've never been happier.

  20. I've always had boys but now have one of each.My boy is quite aloof but will come up for a cuddle when HE feels like it.My girl is the velcro greyhound. She craves affection and is always laying next to me or on me.Stan is my man but I'm so glad my little girl came into my life.
