  1. I didn't vote because you didn't have an I Don't Like it option.Nothing to do with hygene or the sensation I just don't like it.I agree with you Caesars mum it is discouraged in my house. My two are chronic lickers and know not to lick me but when visitors come around they think they are walking paddle pops.
  2. Oh ruthless he is gorgeous.Looks like he found a wonderful home for Xmas.
  3. So sorry for your loss griff.RIP little man.
  4. Me too !! Another slow one here,I thought how strange.
  5. No not a cat person.I did read a read a quote the other day that made me smile. Thousands of years ago cats were worshipped as Gods. Cats have never forgotten this. ANON.
  6. I second Lennox just beautiful.Cabarita/Pottsville northern NSW are nice. The beach goes for miles and you rarely see a soul.Close to Tweed Heads but still nice and quiet.
  7. Baby Earl is sooo cute - I want one! But they grow up to big drooly monster Earls The one of Earl asleep on the chair is priceless.
  8. Why did I instantly start singing "When my baby....when my baby smiles at me I go to Rio... Very Peter Allen .
  9. Most of the trainers I've spoken to seem to believe that black dogs run the fastest. I doubt they breed for colour though, greyhounds can carry black as either dominant or recessive so the chances of it popping up are quite high. The colour they are superstitious about is blue dogs. Apparently blue dogs are slow. The white hairs come up on all colours but I suppose they might be more apparent on black. I always thought it looked kind of cuter than just a black face though Ahh the slow blue dog I have one of those in more ways than one. Thanks HA for your info very interesting.Stan has the grey goatee happening and he's only 3.I agree with you it makes him more handsome than he already is.This is a great thread learning about things not only in my own breed of choice but others that I have no idea about.
  10. Well that's interesting that they can be good guard or alert dogs.My two have never barked at anything.I am only fairly new to greyhounds and only had a few fosters before I failed...twice.Their size alone seems to make people wary when they come to the door especially when they're thundering down the hallway at them.
  11. Aplogogies I should have said some greyhounds not all.
  12. As most people know greyhounds are not guard dogs. They rarely bark or even get off the lounge except to welcome people into the house which includes robbers. Tonight my two are running around the house ears pricked and I've walked around the house and found nothing..nada,,zero.Does anyone else have a guard dog that is about to attack..............nothing.
  13. My personal opinion on black greys(and I'm more than happy for Hardy's Angel or Skyseblue to correct me)is that they grey around the muzzle at a young age. They look old before their time. There is so many beautiful colours in greyhounds but the blacks always look dowdy and boring. Not my opinion but the opinion of adopters. My two are foster failures and I never chose them on their colour.RiverStar-Aura I don't think that a black greyhound is bad luck for people just bad luck for them. .
  14. Good on you Aussie3 .SBT's always make me laugh when they do that wiggly smiley dance.
  15. Maddie does a hundred circles with a few digs in between before she lays down. She also sits on the bed watching me get dressed. As soon as I start to put my jeans on she flies off the bed and stands in front of me stamping her feet and wagging her tail madly.I can put on any other item of clothing and she won't move.Stan is the most exited dog in the world when he does a poo.I can hear him thundering up the back stairs then he flies around the house picking up random things and flinging them in the air.I can almost hear him saying "YAY i did a poo".
  16. I am another who donates all year round.I do transports and will be starting volunteer work at my local pound in the New Year.Have you been into the urgent rescues and looked at all the wonderful people who dedicate their time and money every day of the year?DOLers are incredibly generous and if they want to buy their own dog a doghouse in the Bahamas good luck to them.I agree with Perse maybe put an ad in the paper for those who don't know.
  17. Your not a dill at all. Most people will go with what suits the household but if they look at a list of available greys and their is a blue or even more popular blue and white the black dog with the greying muzzle will get overlooked most times. .
  18. Must be a franchise thing then cause I just got two embroided collars at the local markets here on the Central Coast from exactly the same people. They are great quality aren't they?Sheridan your state says QLD.
  19. I think blue seems to be the most popular in rescue greyhounds. When I was with a rescue group the blue's were the most sought after.I have a blue boy(foster failure not for his colour)and a white girl. When I walk them everyone comments on my boy and my girl rarely gets a look in. .I personally love the brindles so many variations in the brindles.
  20. So glad Morgan is home. I'm sure she will be back to her old self in no time.
  21. Same here. I do not want my dogs to have an empty stomach for 24 hours and I wouldn't feed their whole daily ration in one meal. Bloat!!! Agree.I have greyhounds so as advised by the rescue group I got them from two meals a day.Plus I feed my two before I go to work at 5am.That's a long time to wait for another feed and yes my biggest fear with one large meal...bloat.
  22. Oh no a little too much Xmas cheer!
