  1. Hi, have been to a few in the Newcastle area, depending on the trainer available I would recommend Hamilton Vet (near the Aldi), and perhaps Merewether Vet. The Hamilton one especially. They run two different sessions but you would just have to check when the next one is starting. Charlestown is also good but try those two for one sooner
  2. On this note, just wanted to add that our pup has been on Black Hawk (puppy formula) for a month or two now, and is going really well! He was on Advance previously, which he was doing well on. His coat is the same if not shinier, energy levels similar, but the big difference is soooooooo much less poo :D and it is generally much firmer and easier to pick up (and in dog owner land, of course, this just brilliant). He doesn't go nuts over the biscuits like some have reported, and it's not really high enough value for me to use it for training, but he's perfectly happy to eat it and work for it from bottles/kongs/wobblers. The amount I am feeding has also lessened slightly as he seemed to be doing better on BH (I lost sight of the last rib for a while there ), not entirely sure if this is due to his slowing growth or the feed but as he's only a bit over six months I'd say it's probably a bit of both. Pup is around 20kg and being fed 1 to 2 cups per day depending on whether he also gets a bone/carcass. all round for BH for me!
  3. Hi, I asked the same thing in the Black Hawk thread (some where in the many pages :D ) and was generally advised to go on the adult straight away. I was going to... BUT at the last moment when ordering it I asked for the puppy, because since I only have the one dog I figured it was more economical just to get the puppy rather than feeding double of the adult. I had a quick look into it and from what I could see the puppy just has more protein (a few different ingredients), though if someone more knowledgeable can correct me please do! So I figured no harm in using the puppy formula while he is still growing. Regardless pup is fine on it so far though has only been on a week... big improvement in firmness of poos, other than that the same as he was on Advance (shiny coat, energetic etc. Unless I can blame a sudden spurt of digging on BH ) ETA... just thought also though, my pup will be smaller than a lab so rapid growth isn't quite as much of a concern, and also maybe consider whether the breeder said to keep your pup on a puppy formula until a certain time? (not sure if the royal canin you are feeding is a puppy/growth type)
  4. This music video made me smile so had to share I also love the many breed representations! Had fun picking them... Not sure what breed the puppies at the end are though, can anyone else tell??
  5. Thanks for the recommendations all who replied, much appreciated. I might just go with the adult, if keeping weight is a problem I'll go back to the puppy. I was only going to get the 3kg bag to start with anyway so that should be a good trial. Haven't heard back from the nsw supplier about a sample as yet but hopefully soon, only emailed yesterday. Keen to change over before I have to buy another bag, BH seems too good to be true, cheaper and better! Thanks again everyone
  6. Hi everyone, stalking this thread... I have just ordered a sample of Black Hawk, I assume most people are using the adult BH, does anyone have experiences with / advice about the puppy formula? My pup is almost six months and have been feeding Advance large breed puppy, was previously on Eukanuba Growth (pup is a staffy x rescue, weren't sure how big he was going to get, now it looks like he's headed north of 20kg...). Any experiences with the puppy formula, or should I just go the adult and up the amount he is getting? Thanks in advance for advice. I normally get away with reading everyone else's posts as inevitably others ask the question I wanted to, but no one has specifically mentioned the puppy formula (though I could have missed it in 40 plus pages of the thread! )
  7. That was a lot more difficult than I thought it would be, with him racing around in circles around me Hope this helps a bit!
  8. Plus it's fun to guess This is my first post, long time lurker. Little boy was adopted through rescue. He was 5kg at 8 weeks and has probably put on another kg or two (vet appt on weekend will confirm!) - at 10 weeks now. I think we have a medium-sized, tall staffy cross on our hands, what do you think? I can add another angle if that will help, this is looking down; I thought a shot of his face would be most useful. Littermates had Kelpie-type tan/white/black markings, he was the only with any solid black, a few others were solid tan. A few people have been throwing around some large breeds he might be crossed with which has scared me a bit! :D (only joking, more of him to love) And yes, I know I will never know, and yes I know he is an adorable heinz mix
