Hi LP sorry by straining i mean really straining hard & just passing just about pure concrete so to speak..... you are right about teh anal sack thing Jacqui
-
Lp, my interpretation from what I have read is that if the dog starts getting stools that cause constipation, to much however if your dog still passes movements easily without straining you are pretty much on a good ratio, every dog is different as to how they absorb their diets, so you may just have to go observe for a few days till you work out what is best ;) Jacqui ETA: Dont forget thow Marrow bones are different to chicken frames/necks & bones & lamb brisket so variety is a big then as well..... we do our dogs ears with baby wipes - huggies no scent works best. I start of with them laying out on the lounge beside & rubbing their head/ ear area after they are in all out relax mode i start gently rubbing inside the earflap changing this to my knuckle (bent) at the openings at first they didnt like this but then for some reason they started smooching into it, then i get the balled up wipe & work on the inside of the ear... Clean ears, happy mum & happy dog Jacqui

Kaye, It is very hard to get over the loss of a pet & it is harder I think when you are the one that makes the decision to send them to the bridge.. Take comfort knowing you made the right decision for him & he is now running free at the bridge, playing gaily with all our loved ones that we too have sent to the bridge Jacqui RIP MAYA

It has been a year my old man, and I still feel you near me & forget & go to give you a call then I remember & the tears start to swell no other dogs will take your place in my heart look after our Molly she is with you now once again your shadow & probably tormenting the crap out of you once more I love you my Chief, wait for me at the bridge.. I love you to Molly Jacqui Good Bye Poem -From our babies "I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep. I could see that you were crying, you found it hard to sleep. I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear. "Its me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here" I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea. You were thinking of the many times your hands reached down to me. I was with you at the shops today, your arms were getting sore. I want to take your parcels, I wished I could do more. I was with you at my grave today, you tend it with such care. I want to reassure you that I'm not lying there. I walked with you towards the house as you fumbled for the key, I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "It's me". You looked so very tired and then you sank into a chair, I tried so hard to let you know that I was standing there. Its possible for me to be so near you everyday, to say to you with certainty "I never went away". You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew That in the stillness of that evening I was very close to you. The day is over.... I smile and watch you yawning and say, " Good Night, Sweet Dreams, God Bless, I'll see you in the morning". And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide I'll rush to greet you and well stand together side by side. I have so many things to show you, there's much for you to see. Be patient, live your journey out; then come home and be with me."

It is a personal choice to feed rawhide, I dont...but mine is from a learning curve when Chief was a puppy, we had a piece get stuck & had a 9.oopm visit to the vets If you do feed it then PLEASE dont leave your dog unsupervised with it, choking is a big risk factor.. But they are not as digestible as the natural alternative - NATURAL RAW BONES... Jacqui

Hi abz, Major will consume "kitty crunchies" at any opportunity, hence the kitty litter is now locked off via a kiddy gate.... jacqui coop & mango chicken has a lot of protein but you need to give a balanced diet to make the most benefirt of it.. Jacqui

Thank you all, we were speaking last night after going to bed, and are so grateful that we had Molly in our lifr but even more grateful that we had this time to plan for her knowing what was coming there was many tears shed with Molly & even more still being shed, but with the tears there is comfort knowing that we did what was best for our precious girl. Tybrax, that poem is lovely. I just wish we could explain to Major why she is not here he keeps searching frantically for her inside & out. lastnight when we went to bed he was laying where she slept for her last night licking the covers & whining, my poor boy... he still has Sarge to annoy himm but it makes no difference for him..... Jacqui

Anne, thank you I know exactly what you mean, even though I feel like my heart has been ripped open, I know that there will always be a special spot in my heart for the love that Molly & I share & that it will always be there, your post made me think & realise this.. Thank you so much Jacqui

Well I guess it is time to end this thread & move to rainbow bridge It has been a very hard & horrid day, Molly last night slept up on our bed between Jason & I for one last cuddle (she hogged the bed & blankets all night) we then basically spent the day with each other until it was time..... My sister came with us to the vets & she waited with Jessie whilst Lily Harry & II went in with our girl.... she was so brave & accepted the drug with no fights, it was so swift & painless & I felt so sad and happy at the same time, I am sad for me as I have a big hole in my heart that will never be filled again in the same way no more all over the face kises with one swift lick, that hits as fast as lightening & if you blinked you would miss that tongue coming out to get you... but I am happy for Molly as now she has no pain, she has no cancer & ost importantly she is back with her best friend Chief .... Run free together my babies, I will see you again at the bridge & Chiefer you lokk after my moo girl.. Thank you all for your caring thoughts & wishes the whole time we have been here Jacqui

Today has been the hardest day we have had to endure for the last 11mths. Today we set Molly free, free from her pain to run with our sweet Chief again. To sit and play having fun like the old days, Runs swiftly my girl, He will be waiting for you. love mum & dad & kids. We lost our boy Chief last June & in January Molly was diagnosed with a rare incurable skin cancer, thanks to the staff at Valley Vet Clinic & all the support here we had a few extra precious months with her and for that & the love we recieved from her we are eternally grateful Molly, no one will ever replace you, your legacy will live on, my tears will fall for you, but our memories will keep us strong RIP my darling girl Jacqui

GMD, Sorry dont know why but I thought he was a GSD that you had gought to start breeding with..... :duh: just assuming & getting people mixed up, I will go & swap feet now.. Look as long as you research it & are happy with it & are willing to acknowledge IF it doesnt work you need to go try something else...why not, I wouldnt but I am not a vege either so your dog your choice..... BTW: eggs you need to feed the white with the yolk to equal out the good & bad in both. Jacqui

GMD, hi mate, just a quick question have you spoken to George's breeder about this??? Just curious as I have to wonder if it would void a health contract? and perhaps increase the chances of HD/ED? Especially in a large breed dog? seeing as you want to breed will it affect hd/ed in litters? Back when I first joined I think there was a similar discussion about this but for the life of me i cant find it, but someone in there recommended an Animal Nutritionist by name & I thought perhaps they would be a good contact ppoint... Good Luck Jacqui

hi guys, Thanks for all the well wishes, well today Jason & I have cried a thousand tears, we know that it is tie for us to set Molly free, so tomorrow at 3.30 pm she is making her final trip to the vet she has only just met, and she will be set free to run at the bridge with our beloved Chief. I never thought that I would lose my two furbabies within less than a year of each other, I am so grateful though to advice received here & from Brad & Kim at Valley vet surgery walkerston, this enabled us to have another 4 mths with our beautiful girl and bring her with us to NSW and for that all your support & goodwishes & advice is greatly appreciated. Cuddle your babies extra tight tonight & please spare a thought for Molly tomorrow when the Bridge accepts another beloved furbaby to the fold. thank you all again Jacqui
