Missy my 6 month old whippet was spayed last monday by thursday she was her normal self wanting to run and play which I've got under control at the moment. The vets here didn't send Missy home with any pain killers or antibiotics, That night I could tell Missy was in pain as she was shaking and very sooky. I gave her quater of one of buddys pain killers which seemed to help.

Great videos none of my dogs have that kind of focus as in looking up at me.

My Missy loves to play. Missy actually listens to me more so then anyone else in the family. I actually love playing with Missy she loves to chase her toys and bring them back, She also loves playing chaseys too. I only do like 10 minutes of training with her a day, The rest of the day is either playing or just relaxing.

I hope Alvin comes home soon.

First thing I start training is sit, come when called, heel, drop, stay, leave, ignore. I take Missy my whippet to obedience and she is coming along nicely. I use to take SHelley my golden which has very sloppy sits, drops and her heeling is pretty bad, Obedience trainers tryed everything to get Shelley to do proper sits and drops and heel but nothing worked not even food. I even went back to basics but still couldn't get her to do it properly. Missy my whippet on the other hand has a good heel, very good sits and drops so Missy is my obedience dog.

I do agree with you huski getting a puppy like my Shelley or these GSD is alot of work probably to much for unexperienced dog owners. I know it took alot out of me with Shelley, It took a full year to 2 years for Shelley and I to form a strong bond but now nothing can break that bond. I even contacted some behavourist and they even put Shelley in the too hard basket.Shelley required a loving home and I was willing to give it and I was willing to work with her. I'm so glad I did tho cause she has turned out to be a great dog. Jacqui835 so glad your friend has decided to go see another breeder hopefully this breeder and her dogs are alot better. No one should feel presured into doing anything, The first breeder should not been so pushy with your friend.

I got Shelley my golden retriever at 14 weeks old, When I meet her she was very timid/shy she didn't run up to me wanting pats/cuddles. Shelley didn't even wag her tail when we first meet, I still got her as I loved her looks. We were staying at my boyfriends mothers house for the night,She doesn't have a yard. That night I put a collar and lead on to take her outside to toilet she peed herself cause she was so scared. She would cower at the slightest noise or movement, If you raised your hand she would cower thats how frighten she was. When we got home I worked with her alot, If I wanted her to come to me I had to sit real still cause any sudden movements would make her scared. I worked with her each and everyday for 20 minutes 2 to 3 times a day. Took about a week for her to wag her tail, took another 3-4 weeks to overcome her fears of noises and sudden movements. Cause of all the hard work I put into Shelley she is know the most affectant dog loves to be patted/cuddled, Follows me everywhere. She still is scared of some movements and noises but she is hell of alot better then what she was. She is fairly protective of me specially at night time she doe2s bark and show bristles. Shelley also dislikes people wearing hats she barks them but stops when I tell her. Shelley also will not allow people to go near her unless I am with her due to the fact she was almost stolen when she was a puppy. I guess what I am saying is these puppies can turn out to be great pets if the owners are willing to put in the time and patience to work with them. It would be hard work but in the long run the owners could form a very strong bond to the dog and the dog to the owner, But in saying that some dogs may not come around and stay that way for life.

AS much As I love my golden retrievers since getting Missy my whippet I much prefer Missy's coat over my goldens. Don't get me wrong I love grooming Shelley but the things that get caught in her coat is unbelievable. I often find sticks, leaves, burrs stuck in her coat. Missy my whippet coat is so much easier to maintain if she gets a little dirty instand of a full bath I just grab a damp cloth and rub it over her coat, Where if Shelley got a bit dirty she would require a bath. In training wise shelley is a bit easier to train but in saying that Missy is only a puppy but is coming along nicely.

Refund Policy From Breeders

your mum is better to take the third option, Its going to cost her more for a lawyer and chances are she would lose the case then she will have court costs on top. -
I have 2 golden retirevers a chihuahua and a 14 week old whippet. Shelley my female golden retriever is only 3 years old and she gets along great with Missy my whippet, Buddy the male golden is 13 years old and also gets along well with Missy, Rascal my 6 year old male chihuahua is alright with Missy, he can be mean at times but Missy bringsd it on herself. I think it really depends on the other dogs temperment and how they play with other dogs, But in saying that my Missy is pretty rough when she plays.

Missy my 14 week old whippet is the same she holds her ears funny to 1 kinda sticks up in the air where the other is sticking up in the air but leaning towards the other ear. I'm hoping it's just a phase and her ears will sit like they should be.
-
Missy my whippet loves feet loves them that much she actually bites them.

Shelley will happyliy play with strange dogs, Shelley also isn't the one to run up to other dogs if the other dog comes to her then she will do the play bow and play. Shelley has been trained to ignore other dogs on our walks, She knows she can only say hi if the other dog comes runing over or I say its ok. Rascal on the other end is very choosy some dogs he will sniff others he will bark at. Missy is only a puppy and is willing to go up to anything that moves.

Sorry - Yet Another "what Breed Should They Get" Thread
mumtoshelley replied to jr_inoz's topic in General Dog Discussion
whippets don't shed much, there active, playful, they also don't have that doggy odour either. There grooming needs are very low. -
Here we have 2 males and 2 females
-
Just wandering where can I get samples of this shampoo and conditioner?
-
Here we have 1 male golden retriever,1 male chihuahua,1 female golden retriever and 1 female whippet. Rascal and Buddy like to mark on everything including peeing over top of Shelley and Missy's pee. I find my males good but they didn't learn as quick as shelley, Missy is only 12 weeks old so is still in training. Buddy the male golden has a stubborn strick in him and if he doesn't want to do something he acts like he is deaf. Shelley is great altho it took me a while to bond with her, But now Shelley and I have a real strong bond. She is very affectionant more so then my males. Missy I've only had for 4 days and she seems very sooky too altho has a stubborn strick in her.

I feed 2 golden retrievers and 1 chihuahua what I spend of them is black hawk $80 raw meat and bones $240 vet bill $200 grooming for buddy $50 My parents reckon I spend way to much on my animals and want me to go back to cheap old bonnie and give them a bone once a week.
-
Shelley my female golden retriever hates people that are wearing anything on there heads. She will growl, bark and stand up really tall. Were not sure why she hates people wearing things on there head but we just tell her stop it and continue walking.

Hi everyone instead of writing a new post on Rascal's weightloss I will update this thread. Rascal the day he came home from the vets Now almost 2 weeks later
-
I haven't noticed more drinking in my guys if anything there not drinking as much as they did when feed bonnie. But then They do get raw meat as there morning meals then kibble at night. I've actually got Shelley's food amount just right, Working on getting Rascals food amount right for weightloss.
-
My guys love the black hawk and are doing well on it. At the moment I have just started Rascal back on his normal diet since being back from the vets. Right now I noticed Rascal has little to no energy his still on antibiotics has 8 days worth left to take. I'm not sure why Rascal doesn't have any energy the only thing I can think of is the hills prescription w/d food he was eatting. I can tell he has lost some weight already. What I have been feeding my dogs is human grade raw minced meat be it beef, lamb, chicken, pork, turkey and veal in the morning twice a week the raw minced meat gets replaced with a raw meaty bone, Then at night they get black hawk kibble.
-
Just wandering if a raw diet would be better suited to my chihuahua Rascal? I did try a raw diet with Shelley which she loved but she did gain weight and was only getting 560grams of food a day. What does everyone buy for there dogs? do you feed any mince at all? or do you just feed raw meaty bones, muscle meat and organs. Does anyone feed any vegetables and fruit. Also how cost effective would a raw diet be? Right now I'm spending $80 every 2 months for black hawk kibble then another $60 a fortnight for raw minced meat and bones.

Weight Control Dog Food
mumtoshelley replied to mumtoshelley's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Shelley is doing pretty good weight wise now I can actually feel every bump of the back bone so I don't think she needs to lose weight anymore. Since Rascal has been eatting this hills prescrition w/d diet I have noticed that he has lost a bit of weight already, He has more energy he is also shedding less the only problem is he acts hungry all the time. I'll fix that by giving him mashed pumpkin to fill him up. The vets said If I don't get his weight down he will probably get diabetes very soon. The last time Rascal got a bit overweight I tryed cutting back on his normal food eg I was onlying giving him 2 half teaspoons of food a day. He still didn't manage to lose weight,The only thing that made him lose weight was weightloss food. I got him down to 2.5kgs so I then switched him back to normal food and he now has packed the weight back on. This is why the vet mentioned it might be best if his on high protein low in fat food. This is why I asked which premium food is high in protein low in fat and is better. -
