  1. I am so, so sorry to hear about beautiful Jenna. I've been going into my PM board and I've typed out your reading, yet something kept preventing me from pressing Send. And now I know My thoughts and prayers are with you and Jenna and I am sending a thousand angels to both your sides right now. If there is anything I can do for you, please just let me know. Lots of love and hugs from Jasmine and myself, Renee
  2. Oh, I am so sorry for you! Loads and loads of hugs for you and Jinta
  3. I used RR on my dog when her eczema was really bad. Myself, I use it when I stress or worry and I am using it now because I have split with my partner of 6 years. I know other people who use it on their dogs who get carsick, a few drops before a car ride and they're fine NOTE: it contains alochol so if your animal has a sensitivity to alocohol you should check with your vet first
  4. I remember the day as if it were yesterday. My doggie soul mate, so sick yet I never even knew. There was nothing more I could do except take you to the vet, although I knew you wouldn't be coming home with me. It was the hardest decision I've ever made, how could it be the right one? Tears still pour for you, the days still seem too long without you. I remember you every single day and I love you til tomorrow is no more. Goodbye Patchie, my Baby Pog. I love you and I miss you. 5. Mince can carry more bacteria due to the higher surface area from the mincing process. Other than that, I wouldn't know of any differences.
  6. I used to feed my dog VIP pet mince. The only problem (besides the cost) was once I found a small metal piece in it. I washed it and sent it back to them and they replied that they knew where it had come from (looked like a bullet to me- yuck!) and they sent me a cheque for the value of the meat. I now use pet mince from the local pet supplier. It's cheap and no problems so far. Our last lot, we got from the butcher but it smells disgusting and has the texture of sawdust. Won't be buying it from there again.
  7. I always used to use Frontline and never had any probs with it. Recently I was talking to my cousin who is a vet nurse and she was saying that lots of people had been unhappy with frontline recently because even after applying it, there were still fleas on their pets. It seems that frontline has lost its efficiacy. I am now using Advantix. don't let your vet talk you into Frontline at the moment, they are realising it's not working and are trying to sell all their stock. Edited because this keyboard makes me spell really badly... stupid keys are too small
  8. My mum's Dalmatian pup is 7 months old. When he pees, he is leaning forward to pee as opposed to cocking his leg. About what age do they start cocking their leg to pee and does desexing make any difference to this behaviour?
  9. But they pack so much life into those few short years! That is surely their gift to us- to live like there's no tomorrow. And when they pass, their memories are with us forever. They aren't really gone when they are so alive within us...
  10. Sweetie, please know I am sending you hugs and many blessings. Hold a little service for Maya. Light a candle and think of him. He's still there with you, in spirit. He's happy and healthy and playing with all of our furbabies on the Bridge. Love and blessings through this difficult time, R
  11. Jasmine gets the Heartguard chews, much easier than the tablets! My mum got me a great little thing to remind me when treatment was due: it's a fridge magnet with Dr Harry on it and it actually has a timer on it that counts down the days for you (ie, there's no calendar for you to turn over) and when it hits zero, a little tune plays and you know it's the day to give them their treatment! Otherwise, just give it to them on the first or last day of the month- that's easy to remember too!
  12. Jasmine gets a half bath when she's been playing in the mud. We say, "Jasmine- bathroom!" and she runs up the hallway and jumps into the tub and sits down with one paw in the air. When that foot is washed she holds up the next one... Yes, she plays in the mud quite often!!!
  13. Last weekend my partner and I were installing some skylights... one house we went to, the doggie there was diabetic and blind. Poor thing, he looked so pathetic! He had no fur halfway up all his legs, and he was on injections twice a day as well as eating regularly. He found his way round quite well, and if he got stuck somewhere, someone would have to call him and he would follow your voice. Poor little thing got scared half to death when my partner accidently dropped a skylight part... But he seemed well adjusted, I think the owner said he'd been blind for about a year, year and a half?
  14. It is a beautiful poem, for something so hard to say.
  15. Thankyou everyone- this has been interesting reading!
  16. I'm no expert in BARF. But, what I've been told by BARF devotees, is that those patties are sufficient. I have been told by vets and pet food warehouse people that dogs need "scientifically formulated" biscuits to supplement. Those are the ones that cost a fortune. Personally, I'm with the BARF people- the patties are sufficient.
  17. I have heard that some dogs have injured their necks due to pulling/lunging/jumping while wearing a halti. I was a bit worried about this happening to Jasmine but her neck is so muscly that it doesn't seem to make a difference- she hasn't hurt her neck. The last time I used her flat collar, was about three weeks ago when I took her to the vet. I suspected the vet would want to check her teeth so I chose the flat rather than the halti. She almost dislocated my shoulder, pulling me along. All I could think was, "I am SO glad I'm not wearing rollerskates right now!"
  18. Hmmm.... would that "other post" be mine??? LOL I use a halti on Jasmine because she's too strong for a flat collar and a harness would matt her fur (as well as giving her something pull against). I've never heard of a Sporn harness. Personally, I think that a halti is worth a try. You gotta pick the method that works for you
  19. I wrote this to help me cope with the loss of Patchie, now gone 18 long months. I hope you will find it as helpful as I did... You may wish to sit in your pet's favourite place for this meditation. Choose a place in the sun or your pet's favourite seat. Hold a rose quartz crystal or place it beside you. As you close your eyes, hold the intention of connecting with your pet. Animal souls are like human souls- they never die and they visit us regularly. Take a deep breath. As you do, mentally call upon Archangel Raphael to bring forth your pet. Release your breath. Visualise pale emerald-green light surrounding you. Take another deep breath. Standing before you, you see Raphael appear. In his arms, or beside him, is your beloved pet. Notice how happy they look- how healthy they are. This is their true form, they no longer feel pain. As Raphael comes closer, your pet runs over to you and jumps in your arms. In their eyes, you sense their forgiveness. If guilt is playing on your mind, now is the time to say "sorry". Know they love and forgive you. They understand why you did it- and they say, "Thankyou for taking away our pain." As Raphael stands by, you and your pet play, just like you did in life. In spirit, they have bright new toys, and they happily share them with you. You continue to play happily, knowing you can play for as long as you like. ...When you feel its time to leave, give your pet a big hug. Raphael comes over and picks them up. They are as reluctant to leave as you are! Before Raphael turns away, he says to you, "Your beloved pets are still with you, as they were in life. They are by your side wherever you go, there are no limits." Archangel Raphael and your pet return to the light, and you are comforted. You are still enveloped in pale green light, breathe it in until it is part of you. Know that whwnever you tune into this light within you, you and your pet are together again, playing happily.
  20. Thanx Clicking Mad! LOL- your doggie doesn't have as many spots as my mum's puppy- compared to Ro, Chester looks almost albino! Jas is only 9 months old now, will have to wait
  21. Any tips on getting a dog into the "pray" position? The beg would be the first step, and then pray???
  22. My beloved Patchie suffered the same fate. Her back legs stopped working, we believe it was an undetected tumour. My thought and prayers are with your aunt and Ewok. He is with the angels now.
  23. Far as I know, it's a bit like training with newspaper. The pads absorb the wee and as you move them closer to the door, the puppy (in theory) will learn to do wee outside. My mum was considering them for her pup Ro, but thought he'd probably eat them... ;)
  24. You know what? It does. Patchie (Baby Pog) was PTS 18 months ago. I miss her every day, and whenever I talk about her passing, I cry for ages. But each day passes without me sobbing when I remember her. I can now even talk about her without my eyes tearing up. I can even post about her and I'm OK. It doesn't mean I love her any less, or that I miss her any less. I often see Patchie running around, happy and healthy. Jasmine and Patchie play "Chasings" all the time. Your babies are gone from the physical plane, but they're still with you. You don't need a clairvoyant to tell you that (although she's right).
  25. I didn't even know there was an injection until last week when I took mum's puppy Ro in for his 12 week shots. Just goes to show, I've been going to the wrong vets
