Hi List, Just reminding you that entries are still open for Caboolture KC on the 23-25 of November. OZENTRIES is the fastest and easiest way to enter. Immediate entry, so no worrying about postal delays and you get a print out. Good news is, that even for those who struggle with computers and entering shows like the Royals...OZENTRIES is really easy...it's dog entries for dummies...which is awesome. So if you are thinking about putting in additional entries, or if you haven't entered, jump online and you will be entered in a couple of minutes.. We would love to see you there. Any enquiries please contact me on: 0754283420 or [email protected] Yours, Nadia Attridge Show Secretary

Well list, we certainly need your entries....I have just checked in with Joy Lanham who is taking entries and she has said they will be open until around the 12th. This is because we have a very small entry. It's really very hard for a small non Durack based KC to put on three championship shows and an open show with international judges..and then to find that our entry is not even half of what we expected is quite demoralising. Soooo please come along, support Caboolture KC on the 23-25 November, and our great judging panel. Any enquiries please contact: Nadia Attridge - [email protected] Many thanks, Nadia

Hi List, I just wanted to list our judges for our November 23, 24 and 25 shows: Candy Way (USA) Jackie Perry (Thailand) Fred Salud (Phillippines) Sue Impey (South Africa) Lesley Chalmers (NZ) Pauline Suhr (NSW) Lynette Niemann (SA) We look forward to your entries. You can enter on OZentries, or via snail mail using the Dogs Qld website for the show schedule. Entries are well and truly open. Please contact me for any queries. Hi List, I just wanted to take this opportunity to promote our Spring Spectacular being held over 3 days - Friday 23 to Sunday 25th of November. We have international judges in attendance from: USA, Philippines, South Africa, Thailand and New Zealand, some of whom have not judged in Australia or in Qld. We have 3 championship shows and 1 open show, so there will be plenty to do. Two of the championship shows are evening shows to keep it cooler, and we are putting up additional shade in assembly areas and rings for dogs to help stay cool and dry... Our shows are able to be entered on OZEntries, or via the Dogs Qld website using the schedule and entering by post, and we are very lucky to be sponsored by Dogs News Australia...and we have a full page advertisement in their latest edition. Entries will definitely be open for the next two weeks. Our hope is to make this a truly national event, and as such we are hoping for interstate visitors. Unfortunately at present our entries are quite down on our expectations...so we are hoping that with your support we can make this a yearly event with a full international panel for future years. To do this, we need entries, so if you are thinking about the doint the shows, please enter them. The club is purchasing additional portashades and borrowing some to ensure there is plenty of shade in the assemby areas and in the rings themselves. There has been some confusion regarding camping and what we have written, so I will explain things: No caravans, or campervans can go on the main oval, but right next to the oval we have a large area for caravans and campervans which has both power and water, so it should be an excellent spot. It is as I said right next to the oval as all of the stands around the oval are being moved and we have booked the camping area usually reserved for horses next to the oval and the stables. There are no horse events on at the showgrounds this weekend, so again we will have increased space due to that. Any portashade or tent camping is fine on the main oval. The shower and toilet facilities are really good, and the food is also great! There will be breakfast available as well as food all day, and we are also looking at putting on a BBQ on the other side of the ground for those of you who would prefer this to canteen food. In addition we have kept the cost down to $12.00 per entry......for international judges, that is really cheap! Rings will be in place from Thursday lunchtime, so any set up is welcome after midday. Please come along and support our show, it should be a wonderful few days, and we with all of the extra space we have booked at the showgrounds, that there will be plenty of room for increased numbers. We would really love to see as many of you there as possible and certainly would greatly welcome some interstate visitors!!!! If we are going to be able to put on a show with international judges next year, then we need this show to really be a success, and to do that we need your support!!!! Our thanks, Nadia Attridge Caboolture KC Show Secretary

Hi All, Carol Blyth (Woodford Show Secretary) has asked me to post this. CHANGE OF VENUE FOR WOODFORD SHOW SOCIETY TOMORROW - please cross post to all friends Woodford Dog Section has been moved to a small space next to the Carnival Stall holders caravans at the front of the showgrounds...entry through the first gate. (NOT THE USUAL ENTRY) Parking is not near the rings at all, so you will need to be able to get all of your stuff in trolleys and move it to ring side. There is also limited space for gazebos ringside too as the area is quite small. No-one will be allowed access tonight/this afternoon either. It is not going to be an easy situation, but after talking with the show society this morning, they have said that the AFL club pulled out yesterday afternoon from letting us use their grounds, which is the usual spot. So the spot we have now is ALL they had available. Carol Blyth is obviously both very frustrated and very disappointed. We have set up the rings as best we can, but they will not be as big as usual. Please be kind to Carol tomorrow, as it is not her fault at all!!It will be quite tricky parking wise tomorrow, but we can only do what we can do. Please assist ALL exhibitors by listening to the parking attendant, and also by respecting that you will need to park a fair walk from the rings. You won't be able to sit ringside with dog trailers at all, and unfortunately even gazebo space, as I said is very tight. Sorry but we have done our best!!!! Thanks. Nadia Attridge

If people still have any last minute entries, please send them asap as we are closing the entries this week. Thanks to all of you who have entered. A couple of groups are still looking very sparse. $10.00 to show under an international judge is a bargain, so please if you were thinking of entering shove your entries into an envelope and send them off. Ooooh don't forget the cheque and the SSAE for return of passes!! VBG...Nadia

A message for all Dogs Qld Members Caboolture KC is hosting a consultation meeting to discuss the proposed constitution on Tuesday 6th March at 7pm at the Gamgee Room (the two storey building) at the Caboolture Showgrounds. The meeting is an opportunity for everyone in DQ to come along and have their say about the proposed Constitution and to ask questions or query anything (and everything). Several Councillors including Ulla Greenwood (The President) will be in attendance. This meeting provides us all with the chance to voice our opinion so please come along and ensure that DQ has the constitution we want. Meetings such as this have been held from Cairns south, and have provided lots of feedback already, so our local Sunshine Coast and MBRC area members now have their chance to speak up. Meeting will start at 7pm and supper will be provided. If you are thinking of attending it would be great if you could email me on [email protected] so we have some idea for catering, but if it is a spur of the moment decision, we will still be happy to see you there. Any queries on the meeting, please contact me. Yours, Nadia Attridge

Hi All, GOOD NEWS about training!! If the weather stays dry then we will be holding training at the Caboolture Showgrounds as per normal at 7pm tonight. (Wednesday) Vanessa Lougheed is coming up to take classes, so that should be awesome. Just remember if it is raining, and unfortunately the radar looks a bit sad in that respect there is no training!! Fingers Crossed for a dry night! Training is on Wednesday nights at 7pm. We meet in front of the Caboolture KC storage shed which is on the northern end of the Gamgee Rooms overlooking the main oval. Cost is $3.00 per dog per night. All participants need to be members to attend and membership cost $5.00 for the year. We look forward to seeing you there. Jason Attridge President

Hi All, Just to let people know, show training IS still on at Caboolture, and likely to be starting next week, if not definitely the following week. We still do have a regular instructor in Vanessa Lougheed who drives up from the southside of Brisbane to take classes, unfortunately Jamie (who has been outstanding) isn't also able to instruct on a regular basis. In addition other members also take classes. We have just been on a bit of an extended holiday and cursed by the weather. Show training is at Caboolture Showgrounds on the northern side next to the main arena (next to the Caboolture Kennel Club storage shed). Check our facebook page for details, or contact the club. Training is on Wednesday nights and is $3.00 per dog and to attend you need to become a member (which is $5.00 for the year) which covers our public liability etc while training. Thanks, Nadia Attridge

Show Mats - Paws 4 Effect Gazebo Mats
Classicyds replied to jinkispirit's topic in General Dog Discussion
Also noted that one of the topics on this forum is about cool coats for dogs...I know that Paws 4 Effect are now the distributers (in QLD I think) for the chamois type ones...might be worthwhile having a look at that at the Caboolture KC Show on the 19th & 20th when they have their stand. -

What a cool prize. Hope you enjoy it as much as I am loving mine. So handy! Ohhhh and they make great presents!! PAWS 4 EFFECT will be in attendance at the Caboolture KC on the 19th and 20th November and they are the major sponsors for the show!! Thanks Sarah, We have a motorbike club that uses the grounds the night before so no-one can get on there until the morning of the show anyway, even us, which is problematic. This year after negotiations, the Showgrounds have agreed that I can make out with a spray can walkways and vendors' parking the day before, how much of it is still visible after the bikes, who knows. Hopefully we can set up the rings and walk ways in a way that suits exhibitors. Nadia
-
Okay, shouldn't be offended by this statement but I am. We spend a great deal of time organising the set up of the rings each year. We often have exhibitors thank us for trying to find more room close to the ring for gazebos, but clearly we still aren't doing it right. The process is: the group with the biggest numbers is located on the side or far side of the showgrounds (from the office) to enable the exhibitors to be able to put up as many gazebos as possible. Last year we had group 3 with over 210 dogs and we could have just sandwiched it between group 2 with over 100 and group 4 with well over 100 and given exhibitors the width of one side of the ring as their space, instead we spread out the rings and put in walk ways so no matter which side you are on you can get to the office, toilets, showers etc. Also any especially large group is positioned on the end to try again to get more ringside space for gazebos. If people chose to put gazebos up in a way that was obstructing things, then the option was to speak to the show manager, who did in fact ask some people to move. Sorry, but I can't help other people getting in early and getting themselves a good spot. And if you couldn't get near to the ring, maybe that was because there were a lot of people there earlier than you. Of-course everyone knows how to do everything better, but no-one actually wants to be involved and actually DO the job. AND if as an exhibitor anyone had some constructive ideas about the ring layout, then I am more than sure that the committee or me, as the show secretary would have been very happy to go around and for the exhibitor/s to show us would he/she/they think might have worked better. If I sound pxxxed off, then that just reflects how I feel. We work extremely hard to try and put on decent shows, and maybe this comment was a throw away line, but I don't need people to not enter because they think the show isn't well run or that there isn't space. Personally, I work very long hours to try and put on a show with different judges, that is exhibitor friendly and that people want to attend! I guess become a member of the club and come to meetings if you really want to contribute! Really, there is no pleasing some exhibitors...even though we do bust our butts to do so!! Nadia Attridge Show Secretary Hmmm and this just makes me want to withdraw my entries... I dont think there is any need for this when you are trying to get more people to enter your shows... What Sandra777 said is correct, unless you are there very early you cant get near the rings and there are no walkways alloctated to get through the gazebos, the the people who double park around track and cant back trailers is just insane.... I dont think she was having a go at you, there is alot of work involved in a show, she was just stating reasons why she wouldnt go. No need to take it personally and tell the whole world about it Well, just as Sandra and you are entitled your opinion, so am I. If people want to level criticism in a open forum, rather than to the individual, then I am not sure why I am not supposed to reply in an open forum. Bottom-line, I am going to protect the work done by the very dedicated small team at Caboolture KC! I did state clearly too, that I am more than happy for people to approach me or one of the committee and we can work to make things better. Nadia

Hi all DOLers, Yes, Caboolture KC is still open and taking entries for its championship shows on the 19th & 20th November. We also have an open show on Saturday 19th as well. Entries will not close until the end of next week, maybe early the week after, so please come on and get in those entries!! We will have a box at Maryborough Kc this weekend to put in entries. Thanks, Nadia Attridge Caboolture KC Show Secretary

Hope you are okay HESA!! Current numbers stand on Saturday as just over 400 and Sunday just under 400....so many thanks to those who have entered, but given we usually have 950 and 850, we are still very low...so I am still asking for any entries to come in..please consider it. Entries will stay open until the end of next week...and hopefully we can get to a respectable number with a full interstate panel. VERY low in group 5 (which has two breed specialist judges, one each day) and woeful in Group 7. Group 3 is also not anywhere near past numbers...last year we got 210 for Group 3, this year we don't have a third of that!!! If you are still keen to enter or can ask friends if they are entering that would be appreciated!! I know I ask for entries every year, and that's why we have done sooo well in the past because so many DOLers respond...so thanks for your support over the last few years also. Many thanks, Nadia Attridge Caboolture KC
-
Thanx to all who have said they will try and drum up entries or enter themselves!!! Really needed and really appreciated!!! We will be open for another fortnight...maybe longer if our lovely and long suffering cataloguer, Joy isn't too busy.... Looking forward to your entries...it should be an awesome show! Nadia Attridge Show Secretary Caboolture KC

Also wanted to mention that there will be several doggie vendors there during the two days with a range of products for all of your doggie and showing needs. In addition full canteen facilities will be operating and the Caboolture Showgrounds markets will be on Sunday in the showgrounds so exhibitors can purchase a range of products including really fresh and reasonably priced fruit and vege from a number of stalls. More updates on our show to come...so please enter the Caboolture KC Club shows on the 19th & 20th November!!
-
Hi DOLers, Well today is the official day that entries are supposed to close for the Caboolture KC Shows on 19th & 20th November, but we will be open for at least another 2 weeks taking every entry we can get. I'm not sure why we have so few entries, generally we get around 900 for the Saturday (950 last year) and over 800 for the Sunday, and we have a full interstate panel many of whom are breed specialists, and some of whom who have not judged up here before, but we still have a woeful entry. We have just over 150 entries...and only 9 dogs entered in Group 7!!!!!!!!!!!!! So here I am pleading with people to enter our show, as we really can't put on shows with interstate panels if people just aren't entering. Our prices are only $10.00 for Championship Show and $3.00 per day for a catalogue. On the Saturday the Open show is only $3.00 for entries and the one catalogue does Champ and Open Shows. We have been granted permission to hold 3 championship shows next November and had planned on a full international panel of judges new to QLD, but unfortunately without your support, we can't take this massive financial gamble. So, as I said, I am here asking for entries, hoping that maybe some interstaters might want to come. We are only just north of Brisbane and we have great camping facillities.... For further details, if you are interested in entering, please go to either the Dogs Qld site and check out the show schedules, or feel free to email me: [email protected] Thanks DOLers for your support. Nadia Attridge Caboolture KC Show Secretary
