  1. My Aussies live with Kelpies, although only one at the moment, and some of their best friends are Danes. Don't forget Aussies don't think that they are small ;) !! Now that you have an Aussie you may not want any other breed. Who is your Aussie from? Hi my little girl Dusty is from LASPAMAS.. She is great wonderful temperment, friendly great with kids.
  2. Hi I have a new Australian Terrier :D yay she is great very well behaved little girl. Now I want some advice that if in the future I wanted to add another dog. Should I look at something the same size? Or can I look at a bigger dog? Also should I get a dog that has the same exercise requirements? For those people that may have a little dog and a big dog what are there expreiences with how they get along.
  3. Thanks everyone for your input, it looks like Golden Retriever be it a puppy or adult might be a resonable recommendation. Maybe a Finnish Laphund or bernese mountain dog also might be a good idea but less common . Also just a question what age classifies as an adult in say a golden retriever? AS some websites say 3 years and some younger?
  4. Hi they want a medium to large dog, so I think either size wouldn't matter. They have had dogs before when they were young adults, so have owned dogs before. But have never had a dog with the children. Are retrievers and Labradors similar in drive and excercise? and puppyhood?
  5. Hi Wanting some advice: What breed would you recommend for a family with a 3 year old and 6 year old. First family dog. Golden Retriever Labrador English Springer Or something else? They have good size back yard go for walks, probably will only do puppy school. Grooming wouldn't be a problem. Thanks
  6. Hi I know someone that has purchased a new puppy from a breeder on DOL. She is very happy with the puppy. Problem is she is now 12 weeks old and still no papers have arrived, including vacination, microchipping information. She had emailed the breeder who said that she posted them 2 weeks ago, but they have never arrived. She has since rang and left a message but no one has phoned her back What is the normal process with forwarding that sort of stuff. My friend is a bit annoyed as it was me that convinced her to go through a registered breeder, and she feels she has been chasing someone who is not interested now that the puppy has left. Thanks
  7. Hi All My mum has recently adopted a little Tibetan Spaniel female puppy. She is a lovely girl. But she seems to get really depressed when she has her collar on. She basically stops playing and seems to sit and sulk. Mum thought she was sick! But when you take the collar off her she is happy and playful again! Mum already has tried 2 collars on her and she does it with both.. I told her just to leave it and she will get use to it. Any Suggestions?

    Monty

Just wanted to write a few words about my dear little friend Monty. i brought you in 2000, 4 months after my dad passed away, he always said Aussie Terriers were the best dogs, I was yet to find that out. You were very cute full of energy but just my best mate. At 1 year old your cruciate ligiment went and off you were to a big vet clinic in the city to get it reparied, it was expensive but you were so worth it. After that we made our move to the coast you loved the beach, but one day a big dog jumped on you and snapped your other crutiate ligiment , so me being very pregnant flew you down to get that fixed. Good as new with 2 steel back legs you recovered fine. You accepted my 2 boys with love and played with them all the time. You started not being your self very tired not well - vets said you had very serious diabetes, we will try and fix it. 5 months 2 needles a day plus a new diet, it didn't work you got thinner and sicker, the vet said it was time. So my boys said goodbye and that was it, after 11 years of being the best companion and pet a person can have you went out looking nothing like the dog you were. So now we miss you very much 11 years of photos, holidays, parties new babies your in every one. All I can say is dad was right.
  9. Hi I have used and can recommend both Foster Care Boarding kennels in Rocky and Yeppoon Boarding kennels in Yeppoon. They were both great dogs seemed happy. As for coast I guess it depends on what size your dog is. Mine are small and shared a kennel.
  10. thanks for the reply ok bit more info! Have 2 boys 5 and 2 have a good size back yard well fenced. Probably would walk every second day, and then also play with the kids in the back yard, it would be an outside dog, but kennel is very close to house. Probably wouldn't do puppy classes just the basic commands taught at home. We often go the the beach as well.
  11. family dogs, good with kids under 10, I don't mind doing grooming. Need to be good with other dogs.
