  1. Thanks for that tip Entourage :) My skirts tend to be just above knee length, though I wouldn't apply that rule if I was wearing one of my bolero-style jackets - no-one needs to see that much of my chicken legs  I feel more confident when wearing a suit - part of a "fake it until I make it" strategy. I leave my very expensive cashmere work suits at home and mostly wear stuff I've picked up on ebay or Facebook 2nd hand. In winter if it's very cold I'll wear a long sleeved shirt, pants and then a nice cardigan that I can layer with a jacket or trench coat. I think it also depends on the weather - we did a show where the grounds were flooded ankle deep and I ditched the suit, wore a nice business shirt, wrap around cardigan with some cotton slacks and waterproof boots.
  2. I know someone who received theirs today, but I always seem to get them a few days after!
  3. Oh, I'll be at the Bega Valley KC shows in Bermagui that weekend! In any case, we can definitely catch up at Cessnock :)
  4. Ooooh - I'll be at Cessnock Ag and the EP evening shows on the 18/19 Feb - I'll keep an eye out for you. I must admit - Romeo gave me a good chuckle when you were in the breed judging. I'll be sure to get some more pics for you next time as well :)
  5. Hi all - I got a lovely DSLR camera for my birthday recently and took a stack of pics in the Toy and Non-sporting groups for practice - they're in an album here. They're not super great, but not too bad - if you know someone in one of the pics, please let them know :) I'm happy to send people the high-resolution shots CNCC Non-Sporting and Toy pics
  6. +1 - and how many hours did the owner put in for training besides the cash?
  7. Still plenty of rIngside spots at Non Sporting :) If any DOLers want to drop by to say hi - we have a small orange tent set up just behind our gazebo and a purple floor mat :)
  8. Thanks Freckles :) We're not sleeping in our gazebo - I've got a small 3 person tent that takes up a spot about the same size as the compact gazebo. I'd best be on the road early to try and get a spot!
  9. persephone - yep, we are NCIS fans :) She's a loyal little thing, but like her namesake, fiercely independent and gives me the finger regularly (quite often in the show ring  ) Lando's mum - a big field sounds perfect :) Have you ever thought to take her to a herding class to see if she's the same?
  10. persephone - I've only recently discovered that when my jap spitz plays with a bigger dog (e.g. collie or lappie size), when they start roughousing - to try and gain the advantage, Ziva makes a squeal/squeak noise. She only makes it when she's playing - but it does put other people off. At first they think their dog is hurting Ziva, but we've watched closely and she does it to make them back off so she can pounce on them  I wish she would bark
  11. I prefer the crunching of bones to help keep her teeth clean :)
  12. I buy chicken frames - they're quite cheap near me - about $2.50-3 per kg from a chicken manufacturer's factory outlet. I'm not a fan of mince since there's no bones to crunch and keep my dog occupied
  13. Just change the kibble over slowly - I fed 75%/25% for a few days before going to 50/50
  14. I can't get up there until Fri morning - I hope there are some spots left! I'm camping - do we just set our tent up nearby? Or is there a specific spot for campers (like at EP)
  15. Thanks Jumbaar - I didn't realise Southern Cross weren't accepting new members. What is the Deer Bush club like? Also near me is Paws 4 Fun (but I can't do Wednesdays as I have dance class and rehearsals), Thunderdogs (Tuesdays), PCSI (Tuesdays). I'll have to shoot them off some emails.
  16. anniek - the sunrise shot is just beautiful :) next time I'll have to try and position my hand out of the way and put her paw on the water fountain button :D
  17. I'm in NW sydney - so lots of clubs nearby, but where we end up I think will depend on my work schedule (as a uni lecturer, I have to teach a few nights a week). At the moment, Southern Cross Flyball is looking good on Thursday nights. On the agility side, not sure where we might go yet - I'm going to look into K9Pro's classes. ETA - I think she's pretty fit. We do at least 1x30 min walk a day, sometimes two as well as tug time and playing with a flirt pole in the back yard. No running as yet, I was told to avoid running her until she's been xrayed and given the all clear. When she turns 2, OH has plans to do an ET with her (they're both running  )
  18. Hi all, My Jap Spitz has just turned one and is close to getting her conformation title, so we'd like to move on to something that (she thinks) is a little more fun - maybe flyball or agility? She had a few soft tissue injuries as a puppy due to overexuberance (yes I can jump up that wall!) and it has been suggested to me by a few people to have her hibs & elbows checked and scored to see whether she's sound. So she's booked in with Karen Hedberg at the end of the month. Her patellas have been checked at her regular vet checkups and are ok. There is no history of LP issues in 3 generations of her pedigree. But are there any other health checks etc I should do?
  19. ktig - I like the 1st one after a bath :) DogNerd - is that Tilly? I love the head tilt and the angle of the the pic is great :) Greg W - Zoe looks like a sweetie This week's pic of Ziva 03/52 52WFD Ziva by ChiisaiHakurou, on Flickr
  20. Oooh - ear infection methinks. Which could be because of yeast, or mites. I think the vet should be able to do a swap and check it under the microscope to figure out the cause. If it's mites, then I think we got an Advocate top spot to clear it and some antibiotics to control the yeast infection. Happened when Z was about the same age but hasn't come back.
  21. I've been slack - too much focus on Training in Drive, the Susan Garrett recallers course and showing Ziva to her conformation title (18 points to go ). I do plan on watching my Richard Curtis DVD today and get back into it. We've done maintenance training, but no new tricks as yet. Rear end awareness is coming along - but very slowly - it's like when I sometimes tap her on the butt, she gives me a look of "holy cow I can move my back legs"
  22. Go luvsdogs! How was the workshop by the way?
  23. Perhaps call the Sydney Uni vet clinic in Camden? Philippa Ravens is a dermatology fellow (I think aussielover has been to see her about Mindy)
