  1. I wasn't sure until you asked the question  she can do it siting or standing - but I usually say "watch" and then at a random time I toss a treat. If she stops watching me - I actually throw one aimed to hit her in the face, then quickly scoop it up - you snooze you lose! Every so often after catching one, she'll also get a bonus treat by hand as a jackpot :)
  2. Run free Sarah - big hugs to you Rysup
  3. Looks the same as the Pig in Mud door that's been around for a while http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/165979-pig-in-mud-dog-door/
  4. Snook - I love your shots - and that is definitely creative Jack and dash - love the reflection :) ktig - I can almost see the tears and the start of a temper tantrum ;) gazellehound - Bella is so gorgeous - she looks regal in those pics tlc - love the family shot :) DSO - I'll have to try and get some shots of Ziva rolling - what shutter speed did you use? This week I've been pretty crook from IVF treatment - so I took an opportunistic pic - bathtime! 06/52 WFD Ziva by ChiisaiHakurou, on Flickr
  5. Bjelkier - do you have any more details for him? There might be a few Allan's in Canberra ;)
  6. Toys are undercover, rings toward the back of the grounds typically stay much more muddy. I think the order as you drive in is Toys, Non sporting, utility, working dogs, terriers, hounds. So hounds is usually a lot more waterlogged but a lot does drain away.
  7. Hi all I have a friend with a Tenterfield Terrier who has some back trouble - they've seen a vet whose solution is a lifetime of anti inflammatories - so I suggested the possibility of a chiro or muscle specialist. Can anyone recommend someone in Canberra?
  8. Can you post a pic or send it privately for a criteque Ta - I'll take a pic of me in it next week and post it :)
  9. I've been thinking of using Elvis' Viva Las Vegas for a routine - and I have a 'showgirl' style costume that would show my tummy and quite a bit of leg - do people think this would be allowed within the rules? It's not vulgar but I'm not sure if it would offend.
  10. I started by holding the treat 1cm off Ziva's nose when she was sitting and drop it in. You're right in that the key is to make sure any treats that fall on the floor are swept up by you as you toss another one :) Then just slowly increase the distance. I think it was TerraNik who gave me this method. I started with big cubes of cheese but now it works with anything - even chunks of frozen broccoli :D
  11. A side comment about show homes v sporting homes - my JS has quite a lot of prey drive and she is shown (in drive thanks to training with K9pro) and later this yr will be starting sports as well :)
  12. I had a problem of Ziva pulling towards the middle. We sorted it by practicing circles, but every so often I would make a turn and little pirouette circle right (circle on the spot). This stopped her from heading for the ring exit! She was doing the same on her triangle as well. Now she waits for my cue to move rather than trying to anticipate.
  13. I saw an exhibitor beating their dog a few weeks ago - a few people gave him a hard time. I wonder, is there a rule in NSW that we are obligated to report him on?
  14. I think I'm going to bite the bullet and enter the 31 March trial to force us into training  We'll be doing a 1 min 10 sec freestyle routine, not sure if I feel comfortable doing HTM just yet - though today's workshop was very useful. Just need to get a consistent bow going, but I think we can do everything else in the choreography I have in my head  I'll try and get a video up for everyone to critique :)
  15. Hope everyone stayed upright - we saw a few spills in the slippery conditions We had fun and lots of kids wanted to say hello to Ziva. We walked down to watch the horses - Z was enthralled watching them gallop along. She didn't care much for the ute display. How did the toys go? I heard over the PA that something happened with their judge but luckily one of the other judges was qualified to handle the group.
  16. Ok - I wanted to do something posed this week 05/52 Weeks for Dogs Ziva by ChiisaiHakurou, on Flickr I probably should have used a darker backdrop than a white gazebo wall - oops! I wanted a different sort of pic - of Ziva and I looking at each other or similar, but it just didn't work - the funniest outtake 05/52 outtake by ChiisaiHakurou, on Flickr And an outtake of the setup I eventually used 05/52 outtake by ChiisaiHakurou, on Flickr
  17. Near the canteen right? I've seen some big sheds last time I was there
  18. SoL - thanks for the correction - I only know the upper ring layout and didn't know there was a difference on the other levels.
  19. Up top the ground isn't too bad last time I was there, but I would guess the lower levels would be very wet. I plan on wearing sturdy waterproof boots into the ring just to be safe!
  20. Man, I need to get off my butt and do this week's pic!
