She doesnt want me to get a dog for some unknown reason, even if its for my career and even if i have a job and pay for everything myself, she confuses me. Her first excuse was *i dont have the money for another dog* and i said what if i get a job and she still said no :S its not that she doesnt think i will be able to look after it. I think she is worried because ive always wanted a german shepherd it will be aggressive (mum was bitten when she was younger by a german shepherd). I try to tell her 90% of german shepherds arent like this in good hands but she refuses i also have suggested other breeds and she wont budge. I really want to do this course next year, i called them and they said to be successful i need a dog. I have max but he is like 16yrs old and i dont want to put any pressure on him. I just want a younger dog doesnt have to be a puppy i just want one that is still willing to learn and focused. She isnt against rescues at all thats where we got max from

I will keep my eye out i'm always looking on rescue websites, just my mum is so stubborn .

R.I.P nikki you poor dog to go that way is horrid and i cant imagine the pain you were in wish he got alot longer in jail then what he got. They need to take this more seriously not only are animals suffering cruelty but people are pretty much getting a slap on the wrist most serial killers start off killing animals and they are just going to lock him up for 5mnths pff i dont care if he was drunk to me thats no excuse. Should be atleast 5yrs.

Yeah i havent seen many so i wasnt to sure what they are like they seem like pretty good dogs from what i have read.

Haha the barking really wouldnt bother me its more my dad :D but i worry about the heat with them and i also have a cat so i worry he wouldnt like my cat :S cause i see all these huskys in rescues that say they hate cats.

Thanks for your advice on the Shiba inu. I don't just want a dog based on looks the first thing I read is there temperament. If I wanted a dog based on looks I would definitely get a Siberian husky or Alaskan Malamute haha but there personality doesn't suit my lifestyle or my needs :D. In the post I did earlier heaps of people were suggesting and agreeing with the aussie shepherd or retriever dogs so I guess I will keep reading up before I jump into anything.

Hey i have certificate II in animal studies which i got all competencies i also did work experience at the rspca and he said i was just what he was looking for. I did my course through school so im not sure about outside of school but to get the certificate you have to do so many hours of work placement i did the rspca and i showed cattle at the brisbane show. I got over the limit of hours which was good. It is a really easy course i thought and quiet fun i would recommend it to anyone. Well i hope that helped

Thats why im kinda thinking of a dog out of puppy stage but max is good with dogs we also have my nans jack russel who is still fairly active so if i got a puppy he could play with rusty ;) i have thought about max but i need a younger dog for the dog trainers course next year.

Omg ;) maybe they just do it for excitement but if they did that at home i dnt think i could handle a screaming dog haha

Yeah i plan on doing obedience and maybe flyball lol cause i think that looks fun. They are only medium size so if mum says small dog so she should meet me half way if i get an aussie haha

yeah i like the aussies but i always thought they needed as much exercise as the border collies and kelpies but thanks for that advice ;) i like your ones haha cute

Yeah labradors i think but just seeing options with the smaller dogs ;) because im worried my mum will say yes but only to a small dog lol i still love my big dogs but might have to wait till i have my own place if that makes sense. One of them were at the brisbane show and i was the only person that got the name right bahaha the owners seemed very proud. They are a rarer breed arent they well thats what they told me? He seemed like a great little dog very sweet lick lick dog haha

Yeah i know lol ;) its just ive been looking at smaller dogs and cant seem to find any i really like. I like kelpies and border collies etc but i just worried my yard wont be big enough for them

People gave me advice saying it probably wasnt a good idea to get a large dog for my first dog so yeah. I read shiba inus are loyal to there family and also very smart just have a stubborn streak. Probs still gonna rescue an older german shepherd but i just wanted to see what people thought of the shiba inus

i agree with it depends where you get it from and what the people are like.

I just want to know peoples opinions on the shiba inu. I have read about them and i quiet like them A lot, i have read that they have a stubborn streak. Anyway what are peoples opinions i think it will either be a shiba inu or i will rescue an older German Shepherd with the right personality for me ;)
