I've never met a nasty Rotty either. My last one was a beautiful soul. He pulled me through a very difficult time in my life and I'll never forget it. Truly wonderful dogs.

So frustrating watching some of this. I live on the gold coast and BSL isn't even understood by the average person. It appears to be one of those things people support because it was shoved down their throat. Councillors aren't known for their thinking or knowledge in this part of the country.

There was a campaign a few years back with the slogan, 'An untethered dog is a dead dog.' Some people must've missed that one on the gold coast as I see dogs loose in the back of utes every day.

I've watched a dog walk backwards off the side of a ute. The chain wouldn't be long enough for front legs but when the dog backed off he got his back legs over the side. Terrifying. I was on my horn to alert the driver. My heart was in my mouth.

So sad. :'(

My partner spent the month of September in Hungary. She saw only a couple of Pulik while she was there. Her family is Hungarian and they owned a Puli here on the Gold Coast for 15 years. During that time I think they only ever saw one other Puli. Viszlas on the other hand are pretty common! At Currumbin Beach I'd see 3 or 4 every day! Our local dog park (that I don't frequent anymore) Has Border Collies (quite a few!), Staffy X's, an Irish Setter, Boxer, Rotty, a couple of APBT (sweethearts) GSD, Labs, GR, a Husky (always causing trouble with two inexperienced young girl owners) and many crossbreeds. I'd love to see more variety in the dogs locally.

Yes exactly. How many times has it been shown that people don't know what pit bulls look like? The media only wants to scare people. People think Boxers are pit bulls. People think my Amstaff is a Beagle. They only mention the breed as a bull breed when they want to scare people. At a dog park I had someone ask me if a Mastiff running around was a pit bull. This person worked at a kennel.

I guess mentioning the breed in a news article is only important when it's doing something wrong.

I feel it's just ignorance that creates this fear of prong collars. Most people that hate them have never used one. Sure they look scary but using one quickly shows how useful and painless they are. I have tried one on my upper arm and it is NOT painful when used correctly. As stated earlier flat collar used incorrectly can cause terrible damage too.

DA is not gameness. Just to add fuel to the fire. Terrible incident, I feel for the guy that was bitten.

I spoke to a Dingo handler at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary a while back. He said they cannot run a breeding program as Dingoes are considered a pest in QLD. He said they had to buy from breeders in NSW to maintain their Dingo enclosure. I find that very sad. Absolutely beautiful animals.

What a spineless jerk of a guy. I can't understand when people are in the wrong why they blame everyone else. I hope Riddick recovers physically and emotionally very quickly. Sorry to read of such stupidity.

I've posted a few photos in my breed thread and would post more but it's very quiet in that thread. Don't want to look odd and be posting photos to people that might get sick of seeing my dog. I do love seeing photos in quite a few other breed threads though.
