Hi Guys, I'm pretty sure this is our final name selections but we are having real trouble deciding I could score off at least a couple but OH likes them! Our GSD puppy comes home in under 2 weeks and I really want a name picked out now. So please HELP!!!!!!!!!

Naomi - Archer is absolutely gorgeous as well cant wait to see pics of him too I've got just under two weeks to wait till our pup comes home but am going to see him again this Friday, I really need to get a name picked out I love how you both have names for your pups already and their both great names

Hi good luck in your search and with whatever you decide to go for. We love our camping trips too and have just recently bought a bigger car so hopefully everything will now fit in (including our new addition!!). As for not taking the dog - no way like you said our dog will be part of the family and will always come with us :D .

What is the proper way to train a puppy thats its wrong to bark?? I mean if it was to start barking at people or other dogs whats the proper way to correct this? I don't mind if he barks to alert us of something. Is barking when playing a bad thing? Also wondered if our neighbours dogs barking would set off our puppy or encourage him to bark and should this be corrected? We don't have our puppy yet but I'm starting to stress about getting the early training wrong! I don't know if I'm thinking way too much about things!

SmoothieGirl - your set up looks excellent will be off to bunnings tomorrow for some supplies . We had our kennel delivered today it's fab I love it, it cost $130 and is so heavy and great quality would highly recommend the guy that made it to anyone in SA looking for a kennel. Here some pics -

Just wanted to say good luck Leela in getting your problem sorted, we get our GSD in two weeks and dread him ever getting fear aggression so hopefully lots of early training and socialisation will help. Keep us posted.

Oh its so exciting its like waiting for Christmas to come (only better :D). I've had huge dilemas over the last couple of days re our pup but have thankfully sorted it all out today. Thought i'd share some pics taken over the last couple of days .

I've had a Labrador and a Working Cocker Spaniel but have always loved German Shepherds ever since I was young (not that I'm old now :D) and in two weeks time I will finally have one

Great advice guys I'm now thinking I'll have her in our room in her crate then at least hopefully the kids wont get woken since their at the other end of the house, not sure what oh will think about it but if he doesn't like it he knows where the couch is . I must be mad I've just finished with the night feeds of my bubba and now I'm going to be getting back up everynight to let out our pup . What about water in the crate overnight?? Also any ideas how to partion crate off to make it a bit smaller when pups little??

Sorry I'm asking lots of questions at the moment but I find this site so informative and although I've always had dogs I probably haven't always done things right so its good to get other peoples opinions. What tips can you give me for my puppys first night home I know he's going to cry when left alone at bedtime so whats the best thing to do?
