  1. Lisey Our next day is at Kuraby on the 16th June. To enter email the race secretary (on the website above) and come along and join us and have a lot of fun. It seems to be a club with not a lot of bitching involved and everyone there to just have fun with their dogs. There's already some staffys involved, who do quite well.:) Edited cause the phone wouldn't let me swear and what it auto corrected too, didn't make a lot of sense. Thanks DobieMum :D I'll definitely look into it! He was pretty keen for it last time - he actually got fastest dog of the day against all the other Staffords! ETA - sorry to go a bit off topic OP
  2. All fingers and paws crossed here.... Hopefully he makes a swift recovery Thinking of you.
  3. Oh cool! I didn't know there was an actual competition/organisation in Qld. I've been to a couple that have been held by the Stafford Club of Qld. Might have to look into this further. Book did really well at the last one!
  4. I'm researching dog runs for when the renovations start at my house - am wanting to put the dogs in a run - away from the work - so that I know they are safe. Will set up a little internet camera thing so I can monitor them from work too :) I've looked at Vebo Pet - I've got crates from them before and they are good. Has anyone used one of their runs? Are they easy to put up and then move around if need be? I'm thinking of getting it soon so that they can have spend some time in it before work starts so they get use to it and not stress. Thanks
  5. Yes that's what I said to OH. Who does that? Yuck.
  6. Oh I wish I could do that but half the reason they come over (especially his mum) is to see the dogs.... I just always try to be close by. They aren't allowed to go to their place to visit & never would I get them to babysit (dogsit)....
  7. Thanks. Just looked up the ingredients list online and it didn't have any xylitol that I could see. Something called sorbitol though.... Vet has said to keep an eye on him but being such a small amount it should be fine. It always stresses me out when they come over. They've never had dogs and just don't have a clue. I try and make the dogs behave and they encourage them to be hyper and lick, play rough, etc.
  8. Thanks guys. Book is around 18.5kgs and it was apparently only 1mg in the gum. Will call the vet now. Have been keeping an eye on him and he seems fine. Just so annoyed.
  9. So annoyed. My partner's family are over for dinner tonight and his mum put her gross chewed up nicotine gum on the table and then let Booker up on her lap and he ate it!!! Do I need to be worried about this? I was inside making dinner and didn't see it - otherwise I would have said something when he jumped on her lap.... Can he be poisoned from a piece or two?
  10. Thanks Corie. I am very pleased. He is such an awesome dog. Let me know how you go with yours :)
  11. My 2 can get excited if I leave a room & return in 2 mins...
  12. Maybe because they are some of the more popular breeds to 'make a quick buck' at the moment....
  13. I am so sorry for your loss...... what a terrible shock RIP Shelby Look after yourself JaCaMa
  14. Just wanted to share again - proud of Book today. I had to take him to the specialist vet for a follow up visit. When we arrived there were a few people and dogs in the waiting room and we just sat down. The receptionist commented that he was a very well behaved staffy. When it was our appointment we had to walk through the middle of 2 SWF's (one that had been barking at Book which he ignored) - he just walked through with me and didn't pay any notice to them. And the vet also commented and said wow he did well walking through the middle, what a good dog :D It's nice to have positive comments for a change....I've been getting a bit upset/frustrated at obedience training with some of the comments other owners have said under their breath. Book has been really good. Not carrying on - not so much as even glancing at some of the dogs and they make out like he is going to eat them! One lady with her toy poodle actually said to her dog, don't speak to him, he will eat your for dinner! I wanted to say something but I kept calm instead and just showed through the class how good Book is. One other dog when we were doing recalls ran most of the way down the line (offlead) but then stopped at Book and was eyeing him and growling him so I stepped in front to block this dog from getting to Book (who was onlead) before the owner put it back on lead. Booker didn't react to this dog at all - if anything he was taken back and not really sure what to do. And from now on every lesson the owner is talking to his dog about the 'staffy' and making excuses for it's behaviour because it's scared of the 'staffy'. My 'staffy' is called Booker and he has not such much as batted an eyelid at this dog! The instructer is really good though, he hears what is said by some and tells me not to worry... ETA - and another time when we were doing drop stays - a dog broke and ran over to play with Book (I had his lead) and he just play bowed and wanted to run around with it - took the owner a bit to catch her dog - and they still looked at Book as if it was his fault. At least the instructor praised him for being a good boy :) Anyway Rant over! :)
  15. Thanks Little Gifts
  16. It's been a whole year today since you passed away I miss you so much. Still think about you everyday xoxo
  17. I've definitly been there before :) When does he go for a walk? Can you take him in the mornings before you leave and then do some training during the walk and then a few mintues when you get back from the walk? My guys love old toilet rolls/cardboard boxes/old socks.... Does he have a Kong Wobbler? I find rope toys last a while too, they love ripping them to pieces...
  18. Ok so I have worked out how to make a youtube account and add a video :) Excuse my PJ's
  19. I hope he was..... I've just had a more detailed look on their page and it seems they are supporters of Pound Rounds and have taken at least one dog from/for them.... I half want to stop following the page and the other half wants to keep following just to keep an eye on it....
  20. I would love to see a video! not sure about my next video, any ideas :D? Spin is a nice simple trick, high five + high ten as well, so they're on my list :) I'll try and get one tonight :)
  21. No.... I commented the other day about how the owner would find him now as if it were me I would be looking in the pounds, vets, etc.... and then the next comment was yesterday saying he was returned and that they were only looking after him as it's too stressfull in a pound..... Bit different to what was said earlier in the week: "this dog is now at his adopted home in **** as we couldn't keep him and made every attempt and effort over the past 24 hours to locate his owner to no avail"....
  22. He has apparently been returned to his owner :)
  23. You inspired me to teach Booker to play dead! He has picked it up pretty quickly... Might try and get a video :) What will your next one be? :)
