  1. I didn't notice you all being nervous, I was too busy watching the awesomely handsome man Roscoe in action  I couldn't tell you were nervous....you were both awesome!
  2. Booker and I are exhausted after today!! Was great though and have learnt a lot!! Looking forward to tomorrow :D
  3. Oh nice! Booker and I will see you tomorrow then :)
  4. I'll be there with my not so naughty boys according to Steve  Assuming they are Border Collie's? :)
  5. Which DOL'ers and their dogs are coming this weekend? :)
  6. Nice - good to see a range of breeds. Booker will be happy to give cuddles and receive pats :)
  7. How many dogs will be there? Is there going to be a wide selection of breeds ? :)
  8. If I take my two to the beach we go to Red Beach at Bribie - we just walk a fair way up until I take them off lead. It's nice there. You can acces it with a normal car.
  9. I went along last night to have a ring run out with Booker. It was very beneficial and am already looking forward to next week! It's also going to help me in the normal classes as well as I know more about why we do certain exercises if that makes sense. As I expected - Book is fantastic and I'm the noob who doesn't know much! :D I need to really work on clear hand signals and commands. Definitely got a lot out of last night and can now work on more things at home too.
  10. Thanks. I just emailed Metro actually asking them about it :) Yes - I don't know anything about being in the ring - whilst Booker might be ready - I'm not! I've just taken Booker for a walk and we did some training down the park - opposite to an off leash area - for some distraction. He did really well. I'll just keep up the working around distractions.
  11. Ok thanks guys - very helpful. I like the point about being ready for the level above what I would be trialling in. Makes sense. Yes Huski - I'm at Metro - will ask them about a mock trial - I think that is just what I need. Ok - he is on mains but in his breeders name, so will she need to enter him and I be listed as handler? Will definitely go & watch some trials - does anyone know of any coming up in brisbane? Anyone going & I can come along and cheer you on? :)
  12. When do you know if your dog and yourself are ready to start competing and trying to obtain their CCD? I don't know a lot about it - I really should get to one and watch so I have some idea of what happens. Reason this is in my head today is during normal obedience training last night the instructor said twice that she thinks he should be trialling as he is doing so well... That is my goal one day but I'm not sure he is ready yet - or me (probably more me than Booker!). Do I wait for him to mature a bit more (he is 17 months old), or have a crack, or even look into Rally-O to start with? He has improved soooo much and I've posted that in a different thread - but don't want to set us up to fail.... Also - do I need to be a member of Dogs Qld?
  13. That was my same problem with Booker - I know he is a smart dog - but he was getting distracted by other dogs - I even started a whole thread about it! Slowly though & probably an age thing also he is improving - he is far from perfect but is giving me the attention majority of the time.
  14. Oh don't get discouraged! I know how you feel sometimes though but if you keep putting the work in you will see improvement. I can't believe how far Booker has progressed, in agility in a short time & also in obedience. Still a long way to go but every little milestone I'm happy with :) I've only been to QAJDC at Durack so have nothing to compare with but I've found them really helpful & encouraging, especially for someone like me who is a total newbie to agility (& everything else!). Am thinking of going back out tomorrow night to watch some of their trial :)
  15. Bookie is going great - not scared of the dog walk at all anymore - he loves it! And we have been promoted to the next class now! Yay! :D
  16. Very exciting!! Which one? Booker & I will be at Durack tonight :)
  17. Thanks guys - he is not there yet but has come so far! And I know 3 minutes isn't a long time but I could have tried it for longer but wanted to end on a positive :)
  18. Oh now I'm reading it on the computer I can see where you attended! I found Bonnies (not the one at Durack) not to be as flexible with training methods and are pretty old school. I don't attend anymore. Elise+Hudson - what do you think a private trainer would cost for obedience lessons?
  19. 15! That's awesome! I'm going to go along & watch the trial on Friday night at Durack as I've never been before - hoping there will be a couple of Staffords to watch!
  20. My two would carry on if I put a halti on them without getting them use to it at first too! It's a good idea to get them use to being separated from each other also. I train and walk them separately but there are times on weekends, etc. that my partner & I walk both together. But not every time.
