I always wanted a dog growing up but was never allowed. As soon as I bought my own house I got my first dog - Eva - an SBT. As a kid a few friends had Staffords that I use to play with and then also as an adult a friend from work had one that I use to play with everytime I visited. I did a lot of research first to find a breeder and thats how I found Eva. She will be 4 in December. I will never own another breed. I had Lola who passed away at only 18 months old in May this year very unexpectedly.... And I now have Booker (as well as Eva), who is 4 & 1/2 months old from the same breeder as Lola. I wasn't actually looking for another puppy so soon after Lola dying but Book has really helped to heal the hole in my heart They are three very different dogs in personality yet also so similar. I don't have kids yet, nor will I for a while but I will always have a Stafford or two when my kids are growing up :) I wish I had when I was little!

Happy birthday!!! Wow!!! Someone was spoilt ;-)

I am thankful we have floorboards! However one Christmas Eve Oscar decided to vomit up dog poo on our doona Thankfully the dry cleaners were still open! I love having floorboards too! Makes cleaning sooo much easier. Except they still love to vomit on the doona if it is during the night :)

RIP Atlas...... I'm really sorry to hear this sad news.

I'm with Pet Plan and recently had to claim :-( although it took a few weeks to receive payment I'm very glad I had insurance. I wouldn't ever not have it.

Fingers crossed for him.... I hope he makes a full recovery

If your on facebook, search for 'Pavement Paws'. They make these as well as jumpers, etc.

It's a tough one :-( You have to step back and try not to be too emotional about it (as hard as it is). You would rather it be a little too soon then too late..... Something that has been eating at me since my young one died was that I wish I could have been there for her when she passed. I wish I had that choice to put her to sleep gently with her in my arms...

Such great news!!!

Fingers crossed she is found! This makes me feel sick wondering where she could be.

When I'm home my girl is inside with me with free access to come and go as she pleases. When I go to work she is outside. But I think that's more fun for her anyway. She likes sunbaking in winter and playing in her pool in summer. When I'm home though she is generally in the same room as me. I bought my dogs as I love spending time with them and having them close. They are my family. Some of my favorite past times with them are just chilling on the lounge watching TV.

He is settling in, but is quite upset everytime I leave him, which I can understand, as he was surrended by his family & must be very confused. We went for a walk today & he was not too bad on the halti & he met my girl stafford on the walk & they walked back home side by side which is a good first step. He is slowly coming out of his shell :-) I don't think he had played in a clam shell pool before, he discovered it last night, very tentative with the first paw but then loved it. Was trying to catch the water & having a great time. A bit too much fun though as he went in again at 7am this morning & it's freezing! I dried him off & he jumped back! Lol

Currently playing phone tag - but from what I can make out on my voicemail I will have my first foster pretty soon! A young male staffy for just 3 days :) Excited and nervous at the same time!

Thanks again everyone! I ordered the book yesterday too :-)

The lady I spoke to has said she will give me puppies as well, under 12 months as she knows that my own girl's happiness is important. I also have a spare crate, a million toys, and can remember what a destructive pup is like :-)

Thanks for the advice! Qld staffy & amstaff rescue :-) I think they fall under Paws Alive?? I'm new to all this, not sure how it works.

So I've just signed up to be a foster carer :) It will be my first time. Anyone have any tips?

My good friend is looking into getting a pug puppy. I've not had anything to do with this breed before. What health testing is required and are there any 'warning signs' to stay away from particular breeders? Thanks for your input :)

What Silly Things Is Your Dog/dogs Scared Of?
Lisey replied to mantis's topic in General Dog Discussion
Eva isn't really scared of anything at home, but on a walk, some wheeley bins are scarey and at christmas time a house down the road has a blow up santa that lights up. She almost tripped me one night trying to get away from Santa! :D -
My stafford is a big sook too when it's raining. She doesn't like having to go outside but she will if I go out with her. On a sunny day though if I get a hose out, or we go to the beach, different story - she can't get enough of the water :-)

Really sorry to hear. RIP Cowboy
