  1. Lea: he is definitely a Whistler, I would guess Rufous Whistler. Feel free to send your pooping little guy to me anytime! Just for reference (not done for challenge) These are Rufous Whistlers (male and female) These are Golden Whistlers (male and female)
  2. My NEW BLOG (photography, other hobbies, travel, anecdotes): http://chezzyr.wordpress.com/
  3. Well done Jag. I had to shoot a corporate Golf day once and didn't even think to take shots like that Ripley: love your B+W shot
  4. Poocow: I am wondering if that is the ship my in laws have just been on. They were going on a South Pacific cruise 28th Dec and would have got back today I think.
  5. Filter shop/Madsens might be worth a try (Wollongong)
  6. Ooooh KJA, going near South Georgia? Bringing back nice Penguin pictures?
  7. At the following link there is a picture showing the shooting menu (scroll down) http://www.ricoh.com/r_dc/caplio/r7/features3.html See where it shows "Pic quality/size" and also "Sharpness". Those are what you need to access and then change if necessary.
  8. Seems to me the Caplio r7 can take images at the following resolutions: 3264 x 2176, 2592 x 1944, 2048 x 1536, 1280 x 960, 640 x 480 in addition its quality levels are: Economy, Normal, Fine You will need to go through the manual/user guide again and look for things such as image quality, compression etc.
  9. I am having a mental "sabbatical" at the moment. Other stuff going on that needs my attention.
  10. I had a bit of fun making globs and swirls with red, blue and yellow paint tonight. ;)
  11. Aubrey: were those taken at Seal Bay? I used to love visiting Seal Bay at KI when I was younger. This was before there were rangers and restrictions and you could walk down the dunes amongst the seals - be really close to them.
  12. Really sorry to hear about your girl, Griff RIP Sinna
  13. I love getting away from suburbia! We came across a few of these guys yesterday while driving some dusty mallee tracks. This is a Central Bearded Dragon and by walking quietly without sudden movements I was able to get very close.
  14. P: we kill birds with stones and all that. Take photos, then eat the subject matter :D Was taken inside, no flash, just natural light. No light tent. We HAVE a light tent, its one of those things that spring open and then you can't close again  (even after watching and rewatching the demo video). Aperture f1.8, slightly desaturated, resized for web.
  15. Lolly teef (managed to do this shot before OH ate them all). Recently added an old/new Canon 300d to my stash so giving it a test run.
  16. Bird is a Tern. Hazy on species, could be a Crested Tern. Am inclined to think a Crested Tern in non-breeding or immature plumage. Here is a link to an immature and non-breeding adult Crested Tern (not one of my pics - just for reference) http://photogallery.canberrabirds.org.au/i...ted2_Harris.jpg
  17. Love the geckos. We are planning to have a week in Cairns in Feb, hope there are nice critters to photograph
  18. The Corellas (and Cockies and Galahs) can be quite entertaining as the pictures show. Cockies crack me up laughing when they hang upside down in a tree then suddenly let themselves go and SCREAM!!!!! Big clowns.
  19. They are Corellas eta: actually Long-billed Corellas
  20. Oh that is a very cute frog! I rarely get to see frogs only hear them. I guess I don't have a frog friendly garden. We almost took a drive to Healesville yesterday but went in a different direction (Yarra Junction) instead.
  21. KJA: I have a Powershot A710 IS. What would you advise as far as waterproofing, do you know of any deals? I am not interested in diving, but splashing/snorkelling/rock pools etc might be a possibility
  22. Yes I would consider a dicapac for our current Powershot, but $100? I thought the soft case would be closer to $50. Guess it depends on if you buy locally or from overseas :D
