  1. Poomother if the course content summary suggests it covers 'layers' you will be on your way to learning that stuff.
  2. The full Photoshop can actually be overkill for some people. A beginner could look at the full Photoshop program with its bells and whistles and feel they need to do a course to get a grasp of even the basics. You can google, read books, lurk here etc but a classroom situation (and out on field trips) can be a great way to learn. As lessons/conversations progress you can often pick up interesting tips too.
  3. I don't swim my girl. I haven't noticed her scratching much at all, just a bit when she runs outside onto the lawn (she also sneezes when first running onto the lawn). Wonder if its a grass/seed irritation? THAT would not surprise me. (she also loves making dust baths in the dirt and gravel so wondering if she has anything else in her ears). She is also dropping coat so gets lots of little loose hairs floating around her ears/head. Anyway, thanks, will have a chat to my vet in the morning and try to get her seen tomorrow. So no point buying some "ear cleaner"? eta: the odd occasions I have cleaned her ears is only around the surface with a damp cloth (water).
  4. Hi The last couple of days I have noticed my girl shaking her head a couple times, and she whimpered this morning when I was patting her around the head. In the direct sunlight a few mins ago I notice a tiny sore, size of a small scratch in her ear. Not sure if the soreness goes further down. I do not want to poke around but is there anything I could use to help with the irritation/pain, or trip to my regular vet tomorrow? She is her normal happy hungry active self, she will whimper only if that part of the ear is touched. Suggestions? Thanks in advance.
  5. What does one do when one wants to comment on 57 pages of photos but can't? Ripley: maybe you can make up a speech on my behalf
  6. Just hire a helicopter, a precision driving team and have the cars snaking around a coastal road Bit corny but could work.
  7. I have started watching Top Gear, I enjoyed the American one. OH wants to upgrade to that Corvette Some late arvo/pre sundown shots were happening. Got any nice/safe coastal views you could use, if not ocean what about lakes/reservoirs?
  8. Don't they have office complexes around Sydney? Gosh we have huge ones down here, very nice landscaping, sometimes you see learner drivers around there on weekends
  9. Do you have any industrial estates, you know the places with head offices and nice lawns etc? Maybe you could suss some out, they should be quiet on weekends. We did shots of the Corvette around one of those areas one time.
  10. As I may be heading to a car show tomorrow I can let you know my thoughts.
  11. I think I know the "look" she is probably wanting The moody, over saturated stuff, probably over exposed in areas. You see it everywhere on tv, mags, here on dol eta: CSI Miami is a good one for certain looks as well
  12. Read the manual, it may give you some clues. If you don't have the manual see if you can google info online. Type in the camera and model number plus the word manual or user guide. Or actually type in part of the question you are asking - you never know what google might bring up in the way of different references to your camera, questions and answers, helpful hints etc. What was the light on the day like?
  13. Thanks for that, I hadn't been reading about that specific site. More than happy to sign!!
  14. I have been using something that helps me find my images on the web, very interesting (and yes it found a few I was not aware of).
  15. Yes but CD, that happens all the time eta: so many people think that because something is on the web its their's to do what they like.
  16. Darn - was looking forward to glow worms
  17. It is amazing how they collect things and thanks for sharing the pics anyway. Lamington is another place we need to visit sometime, how far inland is it from Brisbane (car)? Know what you mean about the soft lenses. Reminds me of my first digital camera I got - a little Canon Powershot A10 - only 1.3 megapixels LOL. I was amazed at how brilliant its photos were - until I put my hands on other digital cameras and now the A10 photos look CRAPOLA.
  18. Thanks Ripley for the info - I know the Riflebirds and Bowerbirds are "up there in FNQ somewhere" but I haven't looked into it further. Should know within a couple weeks if we are still going or not I read that someone's cameras kept fogging up in Cairns and that was in December. Makes me wonder if its going to be like the Butterfly house at the zoo
  19. The fun for me is finding/observing them in the wild - it is like a treasure hunt - photos are a bonus. And I get to visit wonderful places in my country while doing it. As for birding equipment, most of my (wildlife) images would be shot between 200 and 300mm, no tripod and only occasional monopod if weather is bleak. I like to keep my equipment as light weight as possible but yes there are people out there who have to have $10,000 lenses with the camo covers and enjoy walking into the middle of a lake Anyway here is one I shot yesterday Juvenile Eastern Spinebill having a feed from Kangaroo Paw
  20. "It's been in there all weekend in the heat." Would seem you are already concerned.
  21. Ravyk: I have seen some of the stone walls/ruins around the Sedan area. Thanks for posting. Some of my ancestors settled in that area - and riverland.
  22. Ravyk: where is the stone wall? It makes me 'homesick' for SA
  23. This thread is so much more interesting than Off Topic at the moment :p I am enjoying seeing what everyone posts even if I have slackened off participating.
