Yeah for sure! Can dogs go on the boat? OH might want to bring the Corvette LOL, so we can do the road trip thing also. Look forward to catching up

Theres about six different places we want to be on Sunday, we will just have to see what happens! Will have a better idea nearer to the weekend and when we know the weather situation LOL. I think Rosie just enjoys happy loony dogs, doesnt matter what breed either  Ohhhh Moses is one gorgeous doggy

Well, I am going to try and get there with my 15 mo smooth Collie who has never done lure coursing before. She might need an old hand to show her the ropes (though she would probably chase the dog rather than the lure - or run in the opposite direction LOL) Also, do they use the WHOLE of the off lead area for the lure coursing, or have a section fenced off. Just wondering if there will be any chance of off lead socializing, or no??????

*sigh* loving seeing a dog work sheep, or for that matter a horse cutting cows!

I am with you, Sam. Besides, spitting is such a dirty habit

What an unsettling time for you all. Our thoughts, wishes and prayers are with you. Hugs and kisses (and a lick from Rosie)

I have heard that some people give their dogs fruit. I tried my dog with some little bits of banana today and although she found the experience odd (chewing up that gluggy tacky stuff) she did eat it! She sometimes gets to eat cooked carrots and broccoli too but I am just wondering what the go with fruit is. Are there any that should be avoided? Are any better than others? Thanks.

If you want to get several items at a time Id probably recommend vetproductsdirect as they have a great range. I havent used them yet but have browsed their site a few times

is it open to dogs/people who have never tried it eg like pet days/expos or is it more structured?

prayers for Maggie, hugs for you all. I sent you some PMs but not sure if you got them + my inbox has been pretty full recently.

Crikey, how old are you? You didnt look a day over 21 to me You mustve been in nappies in the conformation ring!

Well its the second night and she wont touch it. Just looks at it and then at me. I added some meat juice to perhaps make it more appealing but nope. Just to make sure she is not actually sick or something I grabbed some half frozen chicken necks and wandered by her....and suddenly shes my shadow. Very awake and alert and licking the lips!

Don't they all? They will if you let them anyway. If Duncan doesn't eat his evening meal I just put it in the fridge and serve again the next night, if he still doesn't eat it I throw it out and try something else. This is probably the wrong thing to do, I should just keep dishing it up till he eats it. Cheers, Corine Is it a dignity thing with Collies?? I think Rosie would prefer to starve, I will try the same bowl of dry with her tonight, maybe with some water or meat juice added. But at this rate (if she refuses) she will be like a greyhound in no time :D Having said that a few people have wondered what breed she is and asks if she is a greyhound of some type
-
I am not keen to feed her breaky as she is pretty well used to one main evening meal and just a few tiny "training" tit bits during the day. These treats barely amount to anything and would hardly fill her up. I will try a few things suggested. But she will just HAVE to eat some dry until we do our next shop. Problem is she thinks she is human and deserves what we eat
-
She is a year old, well nearly 14 months. Maybe shes just got used to the wonderful chicken wings/necks Ive been giving her regularly and doesnt think dry is yummy enough. I dont want her to become a spoilt thing just used to one thing only. *sigh* I will try adding a bit of water, or even some meat broth type stuff (I boiled up a cooked lamb bone and kept the water for her!) But even with that I dont fancy my chances, shes a bit shrewd.

Just wondering if its normal for dogs to go off dry food. Weve had our dog a couple months now and she *normally* eats most things we give her. We try to feed her a variety including chicken mince, chicken necks and wings, beef mince, rice, vegies etc, very occasionally tin, leftovers etc. Lately she doesnt seem interested in dry feed (feed her supercoat and was fine with it until just recently). Sometimes she may pick at it overnight if I leave it in her bowl but its usually just a few. I dont imagine her to have a teeth problems because she loves bones (raw chicken) and pigs ears. Just seems to be the dry food. I cant afford to be buying bags of other dog food to see if theres one she likes....any suggestions? p.s she is happily crunching a pigs ear while I type this!

Jenny, how did you and Kayla go - was it this weekend just gone?

Thanks for your input Erny, I have been reading with interest too

Nat: youre fortunate that you have this well behaved darling in Ebony. She is older so I guess it will take a bit longer. I know she will do fine, I observed at the MPW how well she has bonded with you and you hadnt had her long! I am learning it can take time and a very upbeat attitude/mood is a must. I get the most out of Rosie when I am being SILLY and when I get hyped/excited (am sure the neighbours think I should be locked up). They (collies) can be so in tune with our moods. My goodness, if Im stressed Rosie can become the canine VIBRATOR But if I am in a jolly 'lets play' mood, she will be bouncing around, play bowing, stretching, yawning and trying to bowl me over in the backyard (she has succeeded!) and licking me to death I hope we can get a few Collies together in a laid back social situation, I would love to observe the different characters. I guess really they are all individuals and need to accept them as so instead of comparing them to others

Went and bought a pair of the guillotine style clippers today (I used this style with my previous dog and also cat years ago so felt I should stick to something I know). However I now have a COLLIE, not a little sheltie or a pussy cat so it was quite a challenge to clip the claws. The other half had to help because the cheeky brat would shift her paw the very second I was about to cut. Not only that, she was risking getting her tongue cut with the licking . Very shrewd dog this one. So she now has trimmed but blunt ugly toe nails Kate, you are more than welcome to contribute some finishing touches, but you might have your hands full teaching her to be an elegant showdog We have been 'bush bashing' today at the Ringwood Lake (not to mention I bought her 2 more coats at Horseland so now she has three .)

Thats a great link Jenny - thanks! I am so glad Rosie posie has the light claws

I love it when I match dog photos to owners, even if its months down the track . Until I find the original image my guess is I took it at KCC Park in March or April?
