Anymore monsters in the works?
-
Patrick, I think she might mean "who do you use to host your site"?
-
Ripley: please add me to your 'mailing list' when you get something up and running. Might help me plan my own trip/s Culling can be good discipline.
-
Ripley: I feel something like PBase would suit you well. They have several 'templates' you can choose from also. I find it so easy to send my roadtrip updates to friends and family - I just send them the link to the specific gallery I have created for that trip etc. You can add descriptions for images or galleries, something I think you would like to use
-
I myself use PBase - I wanted an ongoing, no frills way of displaying lots of images. I don't care about bells and whistles or checkouts at this point. Orders/enquiries come through on email and I attend to them personally. PBase costs me only US$23 a YEAR for 500mb of space. To give you an idea: I have more than 4000 images on there I am at about the 355mb point. I have lots of galleries and sub galleries (including numerous private galleries). eta: in the past I have had my own domain/website and even signed up for smugmug but let that lapse...

Slide can be quite punchy. Film cameras can be cheap, I picked up one for chicken feed and its one of the more later model ones. And I LOVE the whirr sound of the film wind!

They look good Ripley. Can't wait to get my slide films developed now. The Thunderbolts one looks much better to me on this screen What lens were you using with the film camera?

$15,000 Prize For Travel Photography Comp
chezzyr replied to Ripley's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Seems a legit comp, but its like some others like those Centro/Smile comps where you really have to suss out the fine print and be absolutely sure you are fine giving your picture to them for whatever uses they choose (which may include giving the image to other companies to use). I have seen some comps say the copyright remains with the photographer and that they (the comp) will only use the images for the purposes of the comp which is fair enough. -

They do cover some Aussie destinations (for those who haven't been to one of their overseas destinations). This page lists the places: http://www.peregrineadventures.com/Brochures.html -

Always check the reference to copyright. From my understanding simply by entering you give away your rights to your image. They can use it for any purpose, for promotions, in brochures or give it to companies like Nikon to use for their own purposes and so on. All this without any compensation to the photographer. It looks like they ask for worldwide exclusive use of the image?? -
That brings back memories - the first horse I rode (bareback too) was on red dirt. She was the sweetest QH mare, I was a total beginner and she carried me safely over red dirt tracks and in between grapevines
-
Persephone: I keep a tiny pile of red sand on my kitchen window sill. Keeps me inspired! (its the sand we brushed out of our car after the last trip)

We are still hoping to get to Europe next year, probably around Aug/Sept so that would be summer/fall? Your pictures are a tease, Ripley. It looks like you had some lovely weather!
-
Buggered if I know what I was trying to illustrate, just sharing a jpeg action shot I suppose. Beaches, seabirds....I need another road trip I think My parents are visiting SW WA at the moment and I am jealous.
-
jpeg with minimal processing, possibly on sports mode Taken this week. Pacific Gull (adult)

Looks like a great place to take some dogs for a burn, where is that?
-
So does that mean you are going to go out and try shooting jpegs like the 'commoners', KJA?
-
Never mind, what was the topic about, has the OP got her answers??
-
Rubiton - absolutely. When I am out taking pictures of birds in flight I don't want to be slowed down by RAW either. It could be the difference between getting the shot and not getting it. So for action, yes totally understand
-
I have slide films sitting in my fridge - some used some unused. Frustrating waiting to finish them all as I want to get them all done in one hit and the lab will put them on disc for me also. Think I will be shooting some slide over the long weekend and Easter. Mix of Provia and Ektachrome.

I am back. OMG I haven't read all the novels that have been posted here I just had 45mins with a GP, we covered alot of stuff, I have been put on anti-inflams, then maybe a CT scan next. And I am going to blame photography
-
Sometimes it comes back to ethics also. Even though I "can" photoshop an image doesn't mean I automatically do/will. If someone wants me to enhance a dog's structure/conformation (change topline, move a leg etc) that is a no in my book. And yes I have been asked and still do get asked off to docs now argh
-
So that is what Vigex expects in the creative section - I think I will save my money
-
Ruthless: I do want to get back to you with some of my thoughts, I am just getting ready to go to a doctor's appointment. Send some positive thoughts - I get worked up over doctor's appointments
-
Ruthless: why don't you define a 'purist' for me so I know what angle you are coming from?
