Any One Selling Or Thinking Of Selling There Camara?
chezzyr replied to Jessca's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Jess: check your email -
The listing has now been ended so the seller did the right thing. Maybe they got inundated by questions
-
I hate seeing people ripped off - there are several bids, how do you know one/some arent thinking "oh its the new model up from the 450d, let's buy it!". Innocent or not - it is still misleading as is.
-
I asked the seller if the camera opened at the back to accomodate a film or had a slot for a memory card. I just got a private response from them saying the camera has a slot (?) for a 35mm film so is not digital. The listing is still up there with the words digital and has not been fixed - worth reporting or not??
-
Why not chat direct with a specialist in camera repairs such as Shutterbox? http://www.shutterbox.com.au/about_intro.html (I havent used them myself but would probably approach them if the camera was good and semi working)
-
Buy a disposable underwater camera Seriously, the conditions I put mine through I am surprised they haven't carked it. Reminds myself to buy waterproof bags for my gear for tropical north trip
-
OK I have asked something but whether they respond is another thing. Film cameras are cheap these days, there is a 500 N in the USA, has similar buttons etc, item 120347747387 on eBay US.
-
I agree Kirislin, I don't have a good feeling, in fact I am convinced it is a film camera, I just can't see enough of it in the picture. The placement of the buttons on top makes me think its a 500 N or similar. Am tempted to ask some questions myself
-
Actually, looks to me like the EOS 500n or similar, 35mm FILM camera (not digital)
-
Nulab seems to have it, I couldn't find any listings on eBay. You could probably try some of the better 'pro' shops in your city - they might have some?
-
You would really need a photo emulsion cleaner such as a Pec product (seems Pec-12 is the one) to GENTLY clean the slides (not scrub!) Have you got a dedicated film scanner or is it a normal scanner with a slide "attachment"?
-
Keep chipping away and you won't need me for training But the idea of photographing some Whippets is tempting Sighthounds are such elegant looking dogs
-
I might have to pass..on this. I have photographed more than 200 species in the wild Too hard to choose. eta: I love coming across the Bearded Dragons sunning themselves on fence posts etc.

Alot of people get on the photoshop 'band wagon'. This does not make other programs useless. In fact there are a number of image editing programs - even some you can download and use for free.
-
Yes you can chop and change - you will need to go into your menu/info and do this I expect. Check manual if not sure. Not sure what your camera model offers in selections/combos etc. Raw chews up your memory cards quicker - and space on your computer. Something to keep in mind.
-
See atleast you are thinking And not just taking images, giving up and throwing camera in bin I haven't been to Healesville for a long time.
-
Anyway, my suggestion (homework for you lol) is to try testing THIS lens out at the various focal lengths and apertures etc (various combos) because then you will be able to ascertain the best settings to work with for that particular lens and it may well help you know if its a lens problem?
-
top one her (?) head is turned away so not in line with the wing anyway and with an aperture of only 5.6 you are going to get the image fading out. I wonder if f8 or f11 would have been better, you could have afforded a slower shutter speed because the bird is just on the ground walking/standing?
-
Both images also look sharpest in their bottom right hand corners to me, just an observation
-
Why are you shooting right to 300mm? I am sure I have suggested before either to you or others on this forum to try images not right at the extreme end eg try 250 or 280/290 not 300mm. Because some lenses go 'soft' at the extreme ends. I think Luke has said something similar also. eta: I know sometimes one isnt 'thinking' about technicalities when presented with subjects like birds in flight/action, you just want to get the image, but Id suggest trying some shots at different focal lengths. Have you done any of that testing I suggested ages ago?
-
OT - is that the bird that cracks the fake egg open? Are you using your 'kit lens' for this?
-
Will leave the room with all the 'chopped liver' Canon-ites eta: I DO own a Nikon Coolpix, I nearly sold it but it takes nice close ups
-
The 16-85 or the 18-200? I know nothing about the quality of those lenses but the 18-200 would be more versatile/better for agility I imagine?
-
I have no doubt you are getting in the practice Kirislin although I have been preoccupied so havent been keeping up with the forums. I loved your King Parrot shots - and to have them visiting your place must be awesome (well I can brag I have had Gang Gangs lol) RF - what equipment do you own at the moment? Have you thought about getting a second hand body but then putting the money into lenses? Sorry to hear about the Vet bills
