Why not get a housing/case for your Panasonic? We used a Powershot for snorkelling pictures, bought a hard case for it. We had fun with it but then I sold the camera and case off cheap as I wasn't expecting to go snorkelling anytime soon. I don't keep anything that gathers dust.

or what about Nic cough cough cough

What is a "cannon" anyway  maybe we should start calling Nikons....niccons

Tried actually leaving battery out for a while? Maybe leave it out overnight then in the morning trying it with a fully charged battery.
-
google 40d err 99 and see what comes up. The camera might need a firmware upgrade. Not sure if doing this would void your camera warranty though :D

Ruthless (thanks) - unable to give specifics but I can tell you I use focal lengths mostly between 200mm and 400mm for wild bird photography.

Black Swan (coming into land and making quite a noise about it)

Pacific Gull

OK, just for something different here are some flying birds First up Australasian Gannet (I was very fortunate to get fairly close views of a colony and hope to visit again soon)

I love the great outdoors - the camera/lens is an extension of my eyes. I am not a real fan of the fads and fashions of digital manipulation. Not for my own work anyway. Nature I prefer to keep as natural as possible - unless its for a special design/art project. I am not really into people/portrait photography, I rarely even take happy snaps at family functions (isn't that what mobile phones are for??). I like to dabble, and I like to diversify - from sunkissed landscapes to tiny bugs, and show dogs to cream cakes. I love it all. I am like a kid in a lolly shop when I have a camera in my hand.

I think there is a risk of people getting caught up in the "wow that is an awesome photo, must buy that same camera/lens too". When really the resulting image could be a result of technique and image manipulation/post processing too.

Having a quick look D-D online have the lens at $885 http://www.d-d-photographics.com/canonlenses.htm#70-300is
-
The 70-300 IS (samples shown) should be under $1000.
-
Love your valley shot, Tailwag.
-
Well, allow $2500 for the one Luke mentioned.
-
I deliberately didn't name any lens models/types because I don't know the OP's budget.
-
PooMother: it sounds to me like you want/need a 'telephoto' lens, one that is longer than your current one (eg one that goes to 200mm or 300mm). Or you will just have to zoom with your feet

If I run into issues with the report system or help information and have a query, I use "live help".
-
I have just asked eBay about the listing and they are going to investigate it. They say it is already in violation because of the comment re payments. It is going to the Trust and Safety team for review apparently.
-
I have used bank deposit to pay for items before but only when the seller had a large quantity of positive feedback. Would never risk it with an expensive item where the seller only has low or zero feedback!
-
The other thing that struck me as odd - there is only a picture of the box. Where are the pictures of the actual camera and accessories? So at the very least one knows what is included
-
I personally would steer clear of an auction like that, zero feedback and so on (not that all zero fbers are dodgy). Also a seller is not allowed to discourage paypal and it seems like they only want bank deposit. They could be reported. "PAYMENT: BANK DEPOSIT! if you can't do this then don't bid! SIMPLE."
-
To add to what Luke has said, I would actually save a copy of the full size edited image BEFORE resizing. The resized image I would give a different name. Might save some time or 'heart ache' if you can't remember what editing you applied to the original.

Any One Selling Or Thinking Of Selling There Camara?
chezzyr replied to Jessca's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Yes it was horrendous and not only that, nobody seemed happy. All glum faces, people looking serious/tired or in a hurry. Was a mad house in JB and with constant doof doof - I just made a bee line for the SLR cabinet and then out ASAP. Didn't notice a torn box but wasn't looking for one. Probably best someone rings because I aint going again -

The 400d was not in JB - empty space on shelf. Had to go there anyway. Couldn't get out of Eastland quick enough. Watching kids crying on Santa's knee and all sorts
