Hi All, Just wondering what your policies are in regards to when you have a litter at home and/or a partially vacc'd pup and are taking other dogs to shows ect or even just off the property? I usually toilet all of my dogs in the same area and they all have out time together all day and was wondering how careful you have to be. I have become quite paranoid after having a litter and I am trying to keep everything separate except the show dog goes in the car then the bitch and litter need to go in the car... so its getting to be quite stressful. How does everyone else manage this and how paranoid/careful are you? Thanks in advance.

Hi all. Probably been done to death but.... Im really paranoid about parvo and wanted to know if people that show their puppies from 12 weeks have a different vaccination schedule to a pup that wont be going out at all. I am aware that most dog show grounds do have parvo on them. Do many people wait till 2 weeks after the last Vac to show? Has anyone had a show pup catch parvo from a show ground (Sydney in particular). Thanks in advance.

A lot of vaccines just reduce the severity of the disease not the actual occurrence of it such as kennel cough (canine), strangles (equine), EHV (equine) ect. I think there are some which stop the occurrence of the disease such as tetanus (equine). Quoted from a vet website in relation to the parvo virus "Vaccination is the best option. Dogs that come into contact with large amounts of the virus may still become infected but the vaccination will reduce the severity and allow the dog to have a good chance of survival."

Your Opinions About This Idea

If you were near me I would be in for sure. My Dane also needs socialising with other dogs without feeling intimidated. -
We have different rules for different dogs i.e Great dane pup is only allowed to play sitting or lying down in the house though Whippet pup can play properly. We also have a lot of general rules for everyone too such as when going for our walk out of the back yard we all wait quietly while the back gate is open before they are allowed through.

Wow AdJ.. looking rather due there. We first due the day after you though I am thinking we will be a good few days after that yet. Very exciting though... getting closer and I can feel the pups moving.

Very interesting. I have a black pup here who is the same colour and not a normal black. Could they be a slate or very dark blue??

I have taken a puppy back at 5 months, no phone call or anything... the owners just drove up the driveway with her and asked if I would take her back as she was too boisterous for their 16 yo maltese. I did not offer a refund and was not asked for one which is as it should be IMO. ETA Pup was found a new home within 2 weeks to an amazing couple down south.
