Totally separate company, but looks like they're only going to sell in vets like Hills.

I'm thinking of trying a new food for me (not sure how long it's been around) called Natural Balance. It's a dry food made in WA. Have people heard good or bad of it? I got some sample packs and my dogs loved it and hoovered it down a lot quicker than what they're in now. What's people's opinions on it?

These are the only jackets my boy hasn't chewed the front off and I think it's cause it's got the built in neck and it's an Australian product. www.lilcracka.com

Just make sure she keeps getting a lot of exercise and a lot of brain exercise otherwise, they can be a real problem on a chain. She looks Good!!

If you want to move her closer to the bed, check out the op shops and see if you can get a free / cheap cot matteress. Makes great beds

Thanks for the replies. Perse I wanted this little girl and the breeder knew I had enough experience to handle it and I am. I just wanted to see if anyone in the land of DOL had any more ideas that I hadn't heard of.

Got a different one here, something I've never come across before. Got a 10 week old puppy, that can honestly do without food. I've had blood tests done, there's nothing wrong with her. I have her on an appetite stimulator at the moment, doesn't appear to be working. She would much prefer to be running around playing than eating. Even if I bring her back to the bowl and hold her there, she'll be to busy looking around to be bothered to eat. Tried her on 3 different types of dry though I notice she will come and help herself to to bowl every now and again, but not taking great mouthfuls, just a few bites, raw chicken in small bits - wings, necks she will eat, but that's not going to cover all her needs, barf patties few bites but that's about it, those chicken balls with different vegs mixed in, again a few but not enough to make a meal of and satin balls. Her breeder had a lot of trouble with her eating too and kept her an extra week because of it. Has anyone got any ideas please, she's healthy, but looks way to skinny and I worry about her growth because of it.

Training Out An Unwanted Behavior
DobieMum replied to hankdog's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Sometimes training is just hard work and a lot of time put in. I had a cat chaser and she used to get psycho over a cat, bouncing round, barking ect. I started by bringing her into the house (inside cat) on a lead and tied her to the chair I was sitting on and read a book ignoring her. She went nuts trying to get that cat for 3 hours and then fell asleep exhausted. I did this for months, with the time that she carried on for getting shorter, until eventually she was quiet after 5 mins and layed down. I then started treating her for her quiet and now after a year 1/2 I can have the two in a room together and while I'm there not worry about them. It is doable, but you have to have the time and patience. -
Dog Training Without Treats
DobieMum replied to DobieMum's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Thanks Guys, these are all great ideas and really enjoying reading them. I finally found a food reward that I can do the luring with and then we break to play with the tug. She's only 10 weeks old, so we're taking it slowly. -
Dog Training Without Treats
DobieMum replied to DobieMum's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Thanks Kavik That's what I was after, so I'm just waiting for the dog to offer me the "sit" and then reward for it? -
Looking for any clips or you tube videos of dog training without treats (my new pup has no interest in them whatsoever). I have clicker trained my last few dogs and lured them with treats, so now I can't use them I'm lost. I need to see how I train a pup with toys instead of treats and how I play the reward (ie do I throw it for her to chase, breaking the position I had her in or do I play tug with her, again breaking position?). Totally lost at the moment and don't want to go back to the old push pull method. Can anyone help please?

Still newish to Perth. Looking for a broad range of treats to train my dogs with, prefer the natural ones. Any recommendations of shops?

Staffntoller that's exactly what I am after, but what have I missed. I watched the YouTube, liked her page on FB and went back to early Nov. 2012, when she put the YouTube up, but I can't find the rest of it?

I can modify the game to my dog, it's a Dobie and I'll be trying to train her to stop the back legs and walk forward the front.

I put this here, because it should be on a couple of forum topics and I couldn't decide where. I'm getting a new puppy shortly and I show, so essentially I need the stand for exam used in obedience. What I am wondering, is there any new ways of teaching this that makes it a fun game with the dog. Essentially, I would like it as a wait position, to build it up to a game straight afterwards (if that makes sense) a bit like a dog in a stay waiting to go grab their toy. What's the latest fun way of training a stay?

Is Anyone Else Here In Love With Their Dobe?
DobieMum replied to skyeedavidson's topic in General Dog Discussion
Welcome to the DOL. Yes there are a few other Dobie owners here. They're a fantastic breed that I couldn't be without ;) -
Hi, I have taught my own puppy preschool myself years ago and so I am now selective on where I go. Still fairly new to the area. I will be doing my own research but is there any puppy preschools, you recommend me to steer clear of? Thanks

Who Do Chief Inspectors At Rspca Report To
DobieMum replied to DobieMum's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thankyou, I found him when I was doing my research, but I wasn't sure if he was above her or someone completely to the side in the same business. I'll write to him. -
I am secretary of one of the local dog clubs here in Perth and in Early January I was in contact with the Chief Inspector here in Perth. I haven't been able to get hold of her since, I have rung, left messages, even been in there to see her, but on each occasion, been given a different excuse. All we need is to book a time to go in and discuss RSPCA endorsing us to hold an event. Yes I know people's thoughts on RSPCA and I agree with you, but if we want to hold this event, the local city council won't let us without this endorsement. So I have a list of all the times I have contacted and the responses I have been given and rather than getting the runaround still, I want to go higher, but I can't find anywhere of where the Chief Inspectors report to. Does anyone know who I address this letter to?

Help - How Do I Scare Off An Indian Myna
DobieMum replied to shirra's topic in General Dog Discussion
The CDs work brilliantly. I've used them before. Also another thing I saw yesterday to stop bird landing and pooing on your veranda railing is tie a piece of string about 5cm above the railing so they can't land. -
I had to do this test for an assignment. Here's how we went
