  1. I Lure Course my dogs and Any Lure Coursing Title is not recognised, because the CCCq rule is your only allowed to own and compete in any recognised dog sport, one Associate Registered dog at a time. Of Course a lot of greys aren't registered (no offence meant to anyone who rescues greys, I think you do a wonderful job!!). When I was finding out about Lure Coursing before I started, I rang the CCCq to find out about it and the girl in the office told me the CCCq think it's a fantastic sport for dogs and very worthwhile, but they don't recognise their titles.
  2. (((((((HUGS))))))) Our thoughts are with you!!
  3. If you know of a great kennel, have a chat to them. Long, long ago, my family owned boarding kennels, we had two wei's left with us for a year, they just became our dogs and Mum did them a huge!!! deal.
  4. Voted!! Just one querie for the OP. The house next door to mine is really close, I could probably use this for my dogs, but the dog next door is a CRONIC barker, the minute we step outside it starts up. Is there a way that your invention can distinguish between next doors dog and mine?
  5. K&P - when I spoke to the guy yesterday he said they will come out to your house and "suggest" things you might want to move out of the way when you get your pup. Hmmmmmmm .... I'm guessing he means out of "chewing" way My DH is a MWDH and he thanks you for all the time and effort you put into these pups, with you going through this process, it means less that he has to do on his end and means he can get on training his dog to do the job. One thing you have to remember about these puppies is they are working dogs, so have a lot of brains, so if bored they will find things to do "like chewing" ;) but the guys who come out to inspect your yard, will help you with all this. Thankyou, it's a brilliant thing your thinking of doing. Just go into it, with the knowledge, you have to give them back, don't get to attached. To those on about the biting, OOOOOHHHHH YEAH, I can't even go within 2m of my OH when he has his dog, me and his girl have a very love/hate relationship
  6. Something big obviously Thanks for the answers, my daughter was happy with that!
  7. I was also a lurker for awhile. Then something came up that I really wanted to put an answer to, so I had to join. Now I'm glad I did, you lot give me good answers.
  8. Please don't get me wrong, I know what a terrier is. But my 10 year old yesterday asked me "Mum, you know how there's staffordshire bull terrier's and airdale terrier, APBT and Australian silky terrier, so what does the terrier mean?" Please help, cause I've got no definative answer for her. Don't you hate curiousity some times?
  9. For my itchy dog (and he gets dandruff to go with it) I actually use head and shoulders. It's more expensive than the dog shampoo's but it seems to work!
  10. Yep perfect - Thanks Sorry I stuffed up and didn't get my order number. Receipt Number: 78612789 for my banking and reference is my DOL name Pauchel. Cheers Shell Edited, I found my order number 321 :D
  11. Really can't be bothered with the B-S anymore. What is so confusing about Staffordshire Bull Terrier and American Staffordshire Terrier???? People who don't know the difference obviously haven't done enough research to own ANY dog. It must really be confusing for those wanting to own a Greyhound, or is it a Bloodhound or maybe a Dachshund they want. IMO breeders are the ones who should be educating the public on the correct names of breeds - ESPECIALLY in the case of a breed such as the Staffordshire Bull Terrier which has enough useless owners (and breeders!) out there. Not even going to comment on the blue issue. I have a friend who has had 2 byb litters, just between their 2 staffy's (one a crossbred). They ended up out of the last litter keeping a male pup and getting rid of the bitch finally said Shell!! Then the other day she was talking to me and said they were discussing when their ready to retire, they want to get 4 blue staffy's and have at least a litter a year cause people really want them and I can sell them for at least $500, were what her word were to me. I've tried explaining eveything to her, but she won't listen, and both her last 2 litters she had 6 pups in each and sold them all for that price and no issues with either pregnancy or whelping. It frustrates me so much!!
  12. Talk to all the breeders and go with who you feel most comfortable with about their advice and their dogs. When you find your breeder you'll know!
  13. I used Oz Pet, Pet Transport to fly a dobermann from Melbourne to Brisbane, he was fantastic.
  14. This came up on another forum, I just thought I'd pass it on "ADF serving or uniform personnel can receive up to 4 FREE tickets (2 adults & 2 children) from 11am on ANZAC Day by presenting their official ADF ID. ADF ticket collection windows can be found at the kids' carnival entrance and the main entrance only. There will be various displays and activities to help engage show visitors in commemorating ANZAC Day. Tickets provided by council of the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW and information provided by Navy Ticketing."
  15. Sorry Dancinbcs, I'm a bit stupid today.....what were they trying to breed? I assume they meant to say "high drive" but who knows because they want to sell for show, competition and pets. No one needs a high drive pet. It is a new breeder that has achieved zero with the dogs they have so far in any type of competition and the lines they have are not what I would consider high drive anyway. No matter what purpose you need any breed of dog for, a highly strung temperament is highly undesirable. Thankyou, I don't feel so stupid now...........I just couldn't work that one out
  16. Sorry Dancinbcs, I'm a bit stupid today.....what were they trying to breed?
  17. All4addy how heartbreaking for you. I really can't help you with the animal issue, I'm sorry, but when I read about his speech being an issue, I can help there. Quick history.......My son was always slow (at 3 1/2 he was still in nappies) we were in the Territory at the time and no-one could help us as to tell us what to do with him, he was diagnosed with Aspergers and Epilepsy (which he definatly doesn't have now we have the we have other issues sorted). BUT always, we got "Oh he's got a speech problem to, you ought to see a Speech Therapist about that". When we got back to Qld we put him in Prep year and was seeing a Speechy once a week, my son was falling further and further behind the other kids, socially and emotionally. Then our Speechy put us onto The Glenleighden School, it's a Special Needs Speech School here in Brisbane. My son spent 2 years there and now is back in a main stream school and is doing well. He's in year 2 now. The reason I am writing is something the Speech Therapist at the School once said to me...."Your son is different from some other children as he can speak his words, but he struggles with what is going on behind, taking it in and processing and then needing output. He doesn't understand what your trying to tell him. The best way to describe this is to give you a picture. I'm going to put you on a plane to Japan and drop you in the middle of Gifu (a very tiny town in Japan) and I'm just going to leave you there with only the clothes on your back, you get home. This is how your son feels. He knows people are talking round him, he can hear them and if he's around long enough he can start to pick up words, but he can't communicate with them." I'm not here to promote the school (though it was the best thing we as a family could have ever have done), what i'm here about, is don't let the experts all tell you that, speech is a small part of the process. If he's like my son it could be the whole reason you are having difficulties and sometimes a Speechy can get a point accross to your child (that you've struggled long and hard with) because they know the right way to talk to your child. Sorrry if this was soooo off topic, but I stuggled for 6 years with my son and I don't like to think of others struggling to, when their may be no need to. Shell
  18. I have dobies as well. My block that I live on is sloped, but my patio is flat. The other day I walked outside to hear my dogs play barking and all I could see was this black tail going madly and a brown tail (dogue), it's times like this I don't miss docking.
  19. My computers playing silly at the moment, so I'm not sure if it's me or has how you view the forum changed? Shell
  20. I own a dobie with a tail and I agree with this comment whole heartedly. I've had so many of the general public, comment on how good my girl is and how good she looks yet last year when I took my old girl who was a Red with a docked tail out (PTS last year) I had people cross the street, yet I would have trusted my old girl over my girl now. People say my now dobie looks so friendly. I think it's the tail that does it. What do I think of it, I still don't know, but I'm breeding the end of the year and the pups will have tails, so I guess I'm just going to have to get used to it. Hehehe
  21. Can you please add one for me to please. Please PM me to let me know how and when you want the money. Cheers
  22. My dogs were digging their way out under the fence, so we brought an electric fence and put it about 40cms off the ground onto our existing fence. All the dogs have been zapped by it at least once, but they've survived and now they just don't go near that white line. We've had it up for 2 years now and neither dog goes near the fence. I have 2 young kids too, so I took them out when we first got the fence and got them to touch it with the back of theirs hand so they know about it, without having them grab it.
