I'm confused, I am in Queensland and I have now got a 12 week old puppy from Western Australia. The Papers are in my name, but are through Dogs West, I am showing him. When and If I gain his Title, who do I apply to? I am a financial member of Dogs Qld.

They'll still end up in the pound and they mightn't always check for a microchip. I had 2 of my girls end up in the local pound and they were there for 3 days (with me ringing them) before someone realised my red dobermann wasn't a crossbred (they'd never seen a red dobermann before grrrrr ) and put 2 and 2 together and worked out these were the dogs I was ringing about. When I suggested both dogs were microchipped, why didn't they scan them, they supposidly had and couldn't find them. I made them do it again when I picked them up and my staffies had moved to her shoulder, but my dobies was still between her shoulder blades.

As long as your dogs won't stray too far off the path and will come when called, put something noisy on them and you step heavily, the snakes will hear you coming and move away before you get there.

I have shown with a bitch in season, but now never again. I have learnt this lesson through agility. We train on a Thursday night on the same grounds that people have shown at the weekend before and you can always tell when there was a bitch on heat at the show. People are saying that their male dogs are trained not to react to the show and to show well, not so the agility dogs. Dogs that usually perform well are running around with their noses on the ground, not listening when the owners are calling and this is 4 days later.

Maybe a puppy pen for toileting, then you can confine her to the area you need her to go. The biggest thing to remember is to PRAISE her when she does go where you want her to, make a huge song and dance over it.

Thanks, I'll look into it.

Wondering if anyone can help? Here's the story, typical RAAF we're waiting on Canberra to find out if Hubby is Medically Remustered or Medically Discharged, we've been up in the air since about July and still there's no answer in sight and with Christmas just around the corner, we probably now won't find out until next year. To go along with this my in-laws are in Townsville and my Father-in-law has Parkinson's plus heart problems and my Mother-in-law is copping an emotional flogging and there's no-one to help her. Time for me and The Kids to move up there and help out. I've sorted out work for me, school for the kids and even somewhere to stay until Hubby can join us and we can get a proper house. What I'm asking for help for, is a huge ask and I'm not expecting anyone to do it, but I thought I'd ask. Is there anyone or do you know anyone, who is going from Brisbane to Townsville over this Christmas season, who would be willing to add a dog hydrobath, a portashade frame, a fridge, a clothes dryer, a kennel (which breaks down into panels of about 3m x 2m)and a few boxes of kids clothes/belongings to their removal. I've rung round for quotes to removalists and even hiring a medium ridgid truck and the cheapest quote is $2500, it's cheaper to move the whole house for $7000 - $8000. I'm quite happy to transport these things to anywhere needed around Brisbane and surrounds and willing for them to go anytime over the posting season and willing to take responsibility for packing them myself. A huge ask I know, but I had to ask.

The reason I went to an electric fence was my dogs got out and ended up in the pound (what an expensive week that was). About a month later, the council had to come and check that I had secured my yard, so the dogs wouldn't get out again, the electric fence was up by then and the council lady congratulated me on being a responsible dog owner and doing the best I could to contain my dogs. So if it is illegal, even the council turns a blind eye (this was in Brissy).

Thanks Pauchel. Did your vet advise you to have your puppy PTS? Was there nothing you could do for her? My girl is not a puppy, she is 15 months old. She spent two weeks in hospital but is now back home. Hope someone else can share their experiences. Sandy. The vet I had at the time was brilliant and no he didn't recommend it, but we sat down for 2 hours discussing everything and decided, because of the size of her belly already, it wasn't fair to put her through anymore. Things we discussed was diet, have her on constant injections (if I remember - and this was 10 years ago - it was going to be one a day) and she was only ever going to be a house pet, I couldn't do any dog sports with her.
-
Unfortunately, I am no help to you, because when my girl had this, she was still only a baby,so I had her PTS. I just wanted to let you know, that I'm thinking of you and your puppy.

I have one also for digging, again I got it from the horse produce store. Mine is solar panelled, which makes life so much easier.

I used human "Head and Shoulders" for this problem and fixed it up beautifully and left him smelling great too. Just a bit more expensive than some of the dog shampoo's.

For The Ladies...if You Own A Big Dog...
DobieMum replied to WillowGirl's topic in General Dog Discussion
I own dobies and people can see that their my dogs, my hubby tries to tell them to do something and they look at him like he just spoke in chinese But this comment is said to me a lot, usually with their fluffy pull and tugging on their lead. -

Brilliant Idea!!! -
My story isn't time so much as when allowed. I remember Mum had a kelpie, that came everywhere with her other than work. If Mum walked into the kitchen, in anything but a dress, Pete (the kelpie) would get super excited and do the "Comeon, Hurry UP" routine, but if Mum walked out in a dress (work clothes), Pete would lie there snoozing, with her head on her paws.

It's amazing the things that work. I had 2 patio's, one on each side of the house. I got another puppy and to keep him safe I decided to kennel him, but the kennel needed to be put on the other patio, so that he could have both concrete and grass. To keep him sane, I swapped both patio's, put all the dog stuff on one patio and put the human tables and chairs on the other patio. Still scratching my head, but instant solution. All of the toileting issues have cleared up. I even put her in with the new male pup, in the kennel and she goes on the grass where she's supposed to. Sometimes a "Change" is as good as a holiday.

I'll second Kittikat -
For my boy, when I wash him, I wash him in Head and Shoulders (the human shampoo), works wonders with the itches.
-
Kittikat on here does some fantastic drawn ones. Check out the link below, in the beginning it's Froddo's Mum's dogs and further on it's my dogs and cats. http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/224011-sketches-of-my-dogs/

How easy are they to store, do they fit under my bed? Do they come with assembly instructions and is it on video or paper?
-
Sorry wouldn't fit them all in here's the other 3

Kittikat does do some fantastic work, I asked her to do my hubby's Dogue, my daughter's cat and my son's Tenterfield terrier. Couldn't be happier with the results. Excuse them not framed yet, but I had to share NOW!!

There's a remote possibility that we're moving back to Townsville next year and we'd (family of 4, myself and hubby and 2 kids 10 and 8)be looking at at least an acre. My hubby is RAAF, so there is a guaranteed income every week, I'll be coming with 3 dogs at the moment (possibly to grow to 4) and an inside only cat. It's not a definate yet that we're moving, but putting the feelers out for if anybody knows where there might be a rental, or a good real estate agent to approach.
