  1. I think the problem is the person, who uses it and hasn't been trained properly. They really can't turn round and say IK you can use it, but you can't.
  2. KitKat does BRILLIANT ones, I get all of mine done by her!!
  3. Thanks that's one we hadn't thought of!
  4. I went through my cupboards and made a concoction with anything hot and painted this on and around anything that I didn't want chewing. Check it doesn't stain it first.
  5. Thanks for all your comments and support Guys!! Friends of the breeders have contacted every radio station and TV station in Brissy and all the refuges and pounds have been contacted, we want to find this pup. Any help would be appreciated!!
  6. There has been a 10 week old Dogue de Bordeaux puppy stolen from the Greencross Moreton Vet Clinic at Redbank Plains, Queensland. She is a sick puppy and is under veterinary care and she needs to be returned to a vet ASAP. The police, all the Vet clinics in Ipswich and Brisbane areas have been notified. We don`t care where you return it but she needs medical attention ASAP. She is a desexed puppy, so therefore is of no use to anyone looking to breed. She has been microchipped. If anyone has the puppy or knows of its whereabouts or has any information at all please PM me. She is a puppy of a dear friend of ours. Please everyone share this status and get this puppy the attention she needs and return to her rightful owner
  7. Take some old CDs and tie them to different lengths of string and tie them to your roof. Birds in general don't like the flashes if light, hope it works for Maggies as well?!?!
  8. that gentleness must be a big part of the pig dog.. my Morris ( AKA glossy morrie) who was bred as a pigger but his idea of pig was "roasted thankyou with lightly steamed snowpeas".. had that oh so gentle taking of the hand. he loved meeting and greeting people and would put on what he thought was his most endearing expression ,which my son referred to as a look like a shoebox with teeth, Morris would get most upset when people would be scared of him. he would collect the eggs from under the hens and gently bring them inside and place on the sofa.. he ruined me for small dogs and taught me an utter adoration and appreciation of dog as dog..in all its natural glory. Thankyou Morris. H We had an Oscar and used to take him to obedience demonstrations. One part of the demonstration was to put the dogs in a stay and invite the public to come and pat them, Oscar would have a flick of kids round him and he'd be loving it. My other memory of him was again at another demonstration at one of the first RSPCA walks. There was the prizes and completions after wards. My daughter was only just starting to stand at that stage and they had a best owner and dog lookalike competition. I put Oscar in a sit (so he towered over her) and stood my daughter up beside him holding his lead. The crowd loved them and they won. Oscar was my Hubbies first dog and I used to run into a few problems with him, about being the dominant one in the family. But he is serverly missed and quite often thought of.
  9. Another small dog to consider is a Tenterfield Terrier. My 11 year old daughter has hers for agility and she runs around all day with our Dobies. She can keep up with them no worries and can still go out for exercise too.
  10. If he's in QLD, we have a public holiday today.
  11. Im not looking at it just yet, but my prefix is my DOL name and my first litter is going to be an "Abbie" litter - named after my first dobie. What can we all come up with please?
  12. I can't get a copy of the web page for some reason. This came up on FB. Check out Dexil Friendly Dog Collars there is an Australian Distributer. Rescuers there's even one that says Adopt Me.
  13. Wonder if I could teach my dobies that? He's cool!!
  14. I use Jason at Springfield Lakes Pet and Cet, behind McDonalds. I have dobies and he's great with them and listens to me.
  15. Im sorry, I've ready plenty of topics on this already, but I searched last night and couldn't find what I was looking for. Can I please have some websites on places to buy crates please. I need at least a 42" probably more a 48". The cheaper ones are fine too as I probably only will be using it outside the ring, to swap dogs over, when they're in camp they're in the trailer and I have a kennel at home. Cheers All
  16. Yeah I was the only one, but I don't think she looked at that, I think she just jumped in.
  17. Yeah as I said last night I could see the reasoning behind it and if it was another dog attacking Cinder, I would have probably appreciated it. Saxonpup, she was just someone passing by and came through the gate specifically.
  18. The background of this story, I own a male dobie who's only one so still a puppy. My daughter owns a tenterfieldterrier who's close to 2. These 2 are best of friends and actually whinge if separated. I was at my local dog park today and luckily enough had it to myself. My guys were having a ball playing zoomies and chasy. I was in the middle of the park and the dogs had run behind me and I heard the gate go and swung around to hear "GET AWAY FROM HER" and watched in horror as someone went to kick my dobie. Luckily she missed!! When I approached her, *not saying some very nice words* and asked her what she thought she was doing? She told me she was rescuing the white one from being eaten. When I explained *and no, not very politely* that the 2 lived together and the little white one was the dominate one and now look at them,as it was Cinder's turn to be it, she walked back out of the gate without another word. Now I've calmed down, I can understand, that she was trying to save Cinder from being eaten (and yes, that's what it looks like, but she gives as good as she gets), but what right did she have to storm into the park and kick my dog??
  19. I have an electric fence about 30cm off the ground at my place, all the way round, for exactly this reason. It put a stop to the escaping.
  20. If you do want to join a club in your area, go for a nosy round, without your dog. See how they train and what they do a get a feel for the club and see if it's the right one for you. You will know. Goodluck with your training.
  21. Fair enough if the dog jumps into the cat's garden and kills the cat. Not fair if the cat jumps into the dog's garden (after spending a couple of weeks annoying the dog from the top of the fence). Agree with this comment 100%. In the past my guys have killed 2 cats, In both cases I rushed the cats to the vets and paid to have them buried. But these cats came into my yard.
