Halo is so cute, such good balance. WhiskedAway that could so easily be turned into 'Dance'

Wdyt - Is It Ok To Still Let Him Play With The Kittens?
Inevitablue replied to Taradiddle81's topic in General Dog Discussion
My experience has been that my dogs liked stalking the birds, particularly PeeWee's. The fact that the bird wasn't eaten to me indicates that the bird was killed (accidentally?) for 'sport' and not for food, My old dogs would chase them, catch them and then not know what to do next, so would treat the dead bird like a new toy. If it was my dog I'd still trust him with the cats. -
I went and spoke to my neighbours, explained that if they can just put up with a little bit of whining for a few days, then long term they will most likely have a quieter dog living next to them. They were fine as long as the whining wasn't at night. I try to make most of my games training sessions. This last weekend gone, we spent the weekend with the MIL and Tess was in her backyard. Thankfully because she has learnt to settle where ever I put her she was no trouble whatsoever. MIL's cat was not impressed though also MIL doesnt let dogs in the house so Im lucky that she learnt early that whining doesnt get her what she wants. She happily slept on the back doorstep (on a bed, undercover) but very different to her usual sleeping arrangement - my room! lol

Congrats Nadine, she looks so pretty. 6.5hrs between wee breaks, I'm jealous! Tess was more like 6.5 minutes between wee's. Tess is now 15 weeks old, and most go through the whining stage, but be persistant. Make sure she is comfortable, with something to occupy her. Get her comfortable now with entertaining herself, and you have a better chance of a more laid back, easy going dog I believe. If the only reason for whining is because she wants to be inside/next to you/ out of her crate keep ignoring her. Aim to make her spend 30min outside by herself daily(if its all safe - I have a pool which made it challenging - first 2 weeks she was velcro'd to me) Definately start some obedience training, make it fun and it will help wear her out too. I just do random things here and there throughout the day, not a strict 10min session. Games retrieving her toys, looking for hidden food, calling her so she has to find you in the house are all fun and get the puppy to start thinking about things.

I dont think it is hippyish at all if your buying free range for your dogs. Your the consumer for both you and your pet and if you make the decision not to support certain farming practices for your own food, but then support them for items you buy for your dog, then thats quite self defeating. However if your just buying free range etc for the health benefits, then thats a nutrition choice. hehe I think you might be anthropomorphising your dogs as consumers with choice.

Looking For A Good Chiro In Sydney
Inevitablue replied to Inevitablue's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Peter was great, and we had a good chat about lots of things, I know myself sometimes my neck needs a few visits to get sorted. Damn show next weekend I might give her till tuesday and take her out again if I'm still doing my head in. She does have a big stride and is really well coupled, but not straight thru the hock at all, very angular actually. Thanks guys -

I rang both and Peter was able to see her the next day. A little adjustment to her neck and her sore spot on her back. A week previous she damaged a rear nail, so it's either the limping for the few days that put a vertebra out, or the sliding on the polished floorboards. What's doing my head in now is I keep thinking she is moving tight, or that she is still sore etc. I'm convinced she is still moving funny I gave her the last of the carprofen which was for her nail to see if she moved any different with some pain relief, but I couldnt see any changes. Argh I hate over analyzing everything Someone please reassure me that young dogs move slightly sideways so they don't crossfire when trotting -
A bit OT, what's the new ruling with compounding chemists? I see Bova advertising heavily. I know of one vet that gets most things made at a compounding chemist, including Pimobendan and Benazapril combined into one tablet Wouldn't Novartis and Boehringer be impressed Wonder what price meloxicam would come in at from a c chemist?

Hehe.... My last girl went crazy for......ALMONDS! No other nuts except almonds. Jakes favourite was pepperoni

Thanks everyone. If I could afford it at the moment I'd love to get a dressy outfit from RM Williams.... sigh.... (some of their clothes in the Bondi Junction store are stunning and quite 'urban'.... but $270 for a shirt!!) We have been to show lessons for the past few weeks with Luci Ellem, and thats gone great so far, she was such a little sh!t when waiting around this week, but then when stacked or running smartens up her act and doesn't put a foot wrong. I'm really quite excited Off to Castle Hill tomorrow to watch the ACD classes there. EDIT: Its a local judge

Im picturing it now, would look good next to her. Thanks Does it have to be a jacket? or can it be pants and a shirt? It's a specialty.

Im a newbie to showing, and have my first show on the 10th April. Going shopping this weekend for something to wear. I have a blue Aust Cattle Dog girl and am trying to think of a colour that would complement her. Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated. How bright can one go without detracting from the dog? I have seen one lady wearing jeans, a tailored jacket, heeled boots and an akubra. I loved the look, but wondered if it was something common. (oh and green is out...)

Whats the theory behind the plasma? Sounds great. Whats the average that a 5kg pup might need?

Its all about the ham!! (seriously.. once the penny drops that there is an AWESOME reward the rest is easy) Her drops are like that because the game was the quicker she touched the ground with her elbows the quicker the treat entered her mouth haha with my online name as Jakemon (my old dogs nickname) people must think Im a guy!

Has he had his first puppy trim yet? He is a very cute colour

Surely you all must be sick of Tess by now Recycled photos (must get OH to take some more) Day 1 @ 7 wks old At about 10 wks old At 12 wks old (and her first attempt at herding) At 12 wks old in the pool - she is such a confident puppy At 13 wks old doing her tricks, a bit messy but she is fun to work with. 'Speak' is usually much better

Looking For A Good Chiro In Sydney

Thanks for the info Do these guys do adjustments like a human chiro? Many years ago I had Ann at Richmond (human chiro with a dog interest) look at my dog and she used the 'popper' adjustment tool on his spine. The metal, handheld, heavy click tool. The show instructor pointed out from her movement that she looked a bit sore, and when we pressed down her back she has a sore spot kind of between her flanks. -
Could someone recommend me a good dog Chiro in the Sydney region. I have one recommendation but hoping there might be someone good within Sydney. Too much rough play for one little puppy

wonder how a person putting their $100K prize winning greyhound on the same trailer would feel about this....ok all dogs are emotionally valuable, but a dog worth so much would most likely have lawyers involved if its health was compromised at all.

It was a few pages back when I mentioned my experience buying a stafford pup. I rang the NSW SBT breed club and simply asked if she knew who had litters on the ground, particularly anyone with a pied brindle bitch. It was so easy, I didn't have to ring around multiple breeders who had no plans for litters that year etc etc. That was the extent of the help she provided, a list of phone numbers. However I know that if I had have asked if a SBT was suitable for our situation, what they were like with kids....etc....etc... then she would have given me 10min of her time happily. I didn't expect the breed club to broker the sale, but it was fantastic when they enabled me to only contact breeders who had bitches in whelp, or litters on the ground. Perhaps the more popular breed clubs could invest in websites which are solely dedicated to educating the public about the breed, suitability, health problems to look for (ie...non rare colours) and they could extend that further where members had the provision to advise when they were next planning a litter. Now this is just for Joe Public, obviously if you are looking for the next Gr Ch then the process would be very different, but then those buyers are not the sort who would need help on where to go EDIT: also on the website breeders could mention things important to them such as - 1. I only sell my pup's to experienced owners 2. I dont sell to people in apartments These are just examples and the breeder only added specific information if they were sick of talking to the 'wrong' prospective buyers

Waiting For A Puppy This Thread Is For You
Inevitablue replied to jess live die's topic in Puppy Chat
right now she is being packed into a parcel for you! NEVER teach 'speak' until you have 'be quiet' down pat. The best game ever is barking at mum then diving under the bed so she can't grab me. MY GOD she is persistant ;) We had our 2nd day of herding on saturday. A different instructor who was lovely, but at first was a bit 'Borders are the natural balancers, ACD's not so much' and 'you wont get to do much with her being so young' ect, just a tad standoffish. 2min in the round pen and the instructor was like 'wow, although not balancing with you, she is balancing the sheep really well' Then into the big yard with 5 sheep. Much more intense stare this week, stiff body ready to go either way the sheep did. Brought the sheep around us, and when one broke off she cantered up around it, turned it around and then just casually trotted back behind it to the group. here I was ready to crash tackle her if she was too rough! Instructor was much more animated after our little 10min session. I was sooooo proud when she says its exciting to see a pup do everything exactly was you would want. Now.....to work on a stop she backs off with 'ahhhh!!!' (which is the biggest word in her vocabulary) Back to show training tomorrow night with Luci Ellem. Her husband is a bit of a ACD man (ie judge) and he assured me I wont get laughed at, at the upcoming specialty. Where is Naomi on this thread, we need an Archie update....oh and more Sid photos -
I have The Reject Shop one too. Its great! The zip is great, its water proof and excellent quality.

Can anyone tell me what happens if I forgot to click to add 'mailing' to my show entry? Will I just have to pick up numbers at the show?
