Surrogate Mother Possibly Needed In Melbourne
underfoot replied to Trisven13's topic in Breeders Community
After a c-section it can take a couple of days for a bitch to realise she has had puppies and her hormones go banana's. I wish the best for your friend and just keep faith in the bitch as they usually will come around. -
what beautiful babies. We are still undecided. Out of our 11 we have narrowed it down to 2 girls and 3 boys but they are so good and have pros and cons each. We did our BAER hearing test today and all passed with hearing in both ears which was very exciting. I am hoping in the next week one boy and one girl will shine through.

Double Digets For Puppies Expected In Next Litter
underfoot replied to Tapua's topic in Breeders Community
We had 11 puppies 5 weeks ago and we let mum feed them all with no topping up etc. We even had a runt 1/3 the size of the others that made it on his own. The only thing we did different is we started solids a little earlier. Most bitches should be able to cope. -
Dogs Victoria Show Schedules
underfoot replied to SkySoaringMagpie's topic in General Dog Discussion
Just like some of the other states, Dogs VIC has limited access to the "gazette" to paying members who need to sign in to access it. The calender tells you some info but not all. -
so at what age are you guys choosing your keepers?
-
We dont decide on the keepers until they are 8 weeks of age. We follow the Pat Hasting Puppy evaluation. We have had a few that due to spotting we have ruled out but at the moment we have 2 nice girls and 5 boys to choose from and they are all so purdy at only 3.5weeks. It's so hard not to have favourites though.

Just add paper and they go on it. At 3 weeks I will add a litter tray and they learn really quickly to go in it. Makes cleaning up alot easier. They wont poop or wee where they sleep when they are over 3 weeks. Just put it next to the blanket / bed they are sleeping on and they go. Gorgeous Budda. We call our budda STOUT.

Great photos people. Keep em coming I love puppy photos. We started our almost 3 week puppies on some mince and milk yesterday and boy did the big ones become vacuums. I thought they would take some time to learn, this litter are so easy to teach to eat and are toileting on the paper now WOHOO!!!

Yoghurt is FANTASTIC the best is the Jalna wild honey one. IT has all the good bacteria to settle the gut down. A tablespoon twice a day does wonders. It is also good to use after worming or whilst on antibiotics. Pumpkin stops the runny bellies also (cooked and mashe in the food) I find the pumpkin really quick to get them back on track.

OMG these guys are soooo cute.

I can't wait till mine are up a running around for cuddles. At the moment I am still enjoying that yummy puppy smell and breathe. I feel bad about complaining about my 11 when there have been so many losses this month. I am so sorry to all that have lost a puppy. SBT looks like your fun has begun. A nice brood and a great number.
-
Congratulations to all the new puppies. Fingers crossed for those on their way. Sorry for the little ones we have all lost this month. Here's to hoping WE all have a BIS in amongst our litters. MY 11 are growing so fast and have doubled in weight. They are pooing factories and I am having to change the bedding 3 times a day . I did not realise such a HUGE litter would be so exhausting, imagine how poor mum must be feeling. I often sit beside the litter box and smile at how wonderful they are and breathe in that puppy smell BEFORE the pooing begins.

Awesome SBT. Practise makes perfect!

When do there spots start appearing??? usually 7 - 10 days after birth. Its a double suprise you have to wait and wait. Whilst they are in the sac being born you usually can see the spots there on the skin but she had one in the back of the car and three dry deliveries so I really did not get to see many of them as I was too busy.
-
ok. Here are four little ones. The biggest shock is I think we have 5 livers and 6 black and whites. The shock being we assumed our boy might have been black dominent due to his VERY limited livers way back in his bloodline but obviously we were happily proven wrong.
-
Sounds like you will have some puppies today / tonight. They are not too early and will be great. Mums milk will come in fast. Good luck and keep us posted.

I am so sorry for you little ones loss. Willow has been very not well for the first 36hrs an old and very experienced breeder gave me two great ideas that I think turned her and the litter around very fast. 1/2 an aspirin given to the bitch (Dalmatian 25kg). Like us their uterous continues to contract and be painful for up to a week. Everytime the puppies suck it hurts them. Even if you dissolve in water and syringe it in her mouth. Secondly some Jalna Bush honey yoghurt for the pups and mum. Just a lick for the puppies and a good tablespoon for mum. It helps restore the balance of upset tummies and in general was FANTASTIC for my puppies. I give them a lick twice a day and the little one three times a day. I really hope the others thrive and poor mum and yourself feel better.

OMG, I bet that was a pleasant suprise Do you have your own oxytocin or did you take her to the vets? Our Vet gives us some but on the proviso we call then first before administering it. We have a great Vet.
-
A shot of oxytocin for a retained placenta and she shot out 2 more big girls... 7 boys 4 girls.. Now the fun starts.
-
All done... We got 7 boys 3 girls but one very sadly was stillborn (and she was black and white). a long day and off to bed now good luck to everyone else. Thanks for the good vibes.
-
Well we are off and running. willow started at about 3.30pm being silly and by 4.30pm we had our first boy. Up to 4 boys now. c'mon my black bitch.....
-
They are sooo cute. Cant wait for my brood now.

All quiet here with willow. Not long now. I laughed at all those fussy bitches and the great lengths you guys had to go to to get them to eat and now Miss Willow is being VERY difficult to feed. Withh 11 pups plus inside her she has all but stopped eating since Sunday last week end. She nibbles here and there but the food she is wanting is HORRIBLE. She has gone from her premium food to wanting hot dogs and processed meats and of all things GOOD O'S (YUCK!!) She will not eat anything raw like mince etc and is not impressed with cooked chook. I guess when i was pregnant I ate thing i would not usually eat. It's all very funny but you worry when your baby girl is losing weight and her tummy is expanding. Tick tock time needs to hurry up!!
