  1. oh goodness me, it will take me way too long to get that many posts. Never mind I will just keep my oversharing to this lovely non post counting section of the forums
  2. Too severe? Get out. It's well documented that people who torture and kill animals often go on to doing the same to humans, so lock them up I say. Grrrr.
  3. Hey everyone, wow so many great pics to check out (even if I do have to log onto a proxy here at work coz our work internet is rubbish!!) Wuffles your wedding dress looked lovely and I'm so jealous of that beach! Vague question for you all coz I'm a noob and I'm slow. Is there some sort of forum that only 'appears' after you've reached a certain number of posts? I've seen mention of it recently but I don't know if it exists and if it does how many posts you have to have before you can post in it. Anyway, 8 days til I get my little bundle of love, I so can't wait. Fen
  4. aw, looks painful. I've never been stung by a bee and hopefully never will be. I hope your dogs swelling has gone down now, the poor little thing.
  5. nice handiwork SmoothieGirl, very impressive. I got myself some of these in anticipation of the arrival of my pup, but I haven't decided where I'm going to set him up yet. I figure they're portable anyway so not that fussed. Such a great idea, I think the DOL'ers are keeping this compost company in business 9 days til I get my puppy
  6. aw I just read about this in the DM and found it very sad RIP to both of them.
  7. My heritage is Manx (Isle of Man) and my name comes from there. I so wish I could read Gaelic.
  8. I have a tattoo based loosely on a picture I took of my cat years ago. If I can find a pic of it I will post it. I've seen some awesome tattoo work done of peoples pets.
  9. I've heard the 'formula' is their age in months plus one. So if the dog is 2 months old you take it out every 3 hours at night. Others feel free to correct me if this isn't right.
  10. The thread that you referred to KTB just made me go I'm not sure what to think! I know when I first came here I was a little intimidated by all those opinions, but I filter out stuff and find what's relevant to me. Some people are just so naive and they get burned in a big way
  11. Hey guys, as promised a pic of my new guy, who I have decided to name Cooper. I drove out to see him today and fell in love. He was just so adorable, fell asleep on me and snored quietly. I can't wait to pick him up in 2 weeks I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. The pics of Hoover and Elbie are so cute KTB. I hope your wedding went really well Wuffles, I bet it was a magical day. Fen
  12. I went and visited my miniature schnauzer pup today and it was love at first sight!! I can't wait to go back in 2 weeks and pick him up
  13. lol @ 'Skinkid' and hooray for your dogs! Very obedient!
  14. I have some mini cards that I got made about 4 years ago and only now are some of them starting to peel. I'm pretty sure it is because they had something spilt on them too, because others I have are still fine.
  15. Personally I have great concerns in the regulation (or lack thereof) of kennels. I haven't used one myself, but a friend of my elderly Nan's recently put his dog in one. Somehow his dog "escaped" whilst in their care, and was picked up by the council. He was given a fine from the council for his dog escaping and a fine from the pound for whatever they fine for. At no stage did the kennels offer to reimburse him for these costs, despite it not being his fault. He was also not made aware of the fact that his dog was missing, he found this out when he came to pick up the dog. In the end I think they may have reimbursed him some costs, but it's something I have yet to speak to him about as I have been working night shift. He's an elderly pensioner and he could barely afford these fees. I've also heard other stories of people sending their dogs to kennels and them coming back riddled with fleas and in pretty poor condition. Not something I would be happy with if I was paying someone to look after my animal/s.
  16. aw thanks for the welcome guys, it really IS the cozy corner in here. LOVE that pic of Elbie and Hoover I promise I will take lots of pics of my pup (& his brothers & sisters) and post them up here when I get home. I spent some time up at my Dad's tonight, he has 3 dogs & his neighbours have 2. They all want me to go for playdates when my pup is able to. Ha ha, I think the pup is more popular than me already Fen PS - LMAO at Satchmo & his hole.... it looks like he thought he was a bit invisible if he lay still enough, so cute.
  17. Hi Everyone I've been lurking for a while and I've decided that yes, this thread is a lovely place to come and see gorgeous photos and to have a giggle. You're all very welcoming to noobs too, which is a relief! I've not got a dog.... yet. I'm going to see my puppy on Monday, he's a 6 week old miniature schnauzer, and in another couple of weeks he will be coming to live with me. I'm so excited and a tad nervous. I've never had a dog before, to date I've been a mad cat lady. In fact my black and white "moo cat" Tamika is snoring blissfully beside me as I type. I know I've got a lot to learn and a lot of sleepless nights ahead of me, but I can't wait. I hope to have some photos of my boy after I go visit on Monday, so for now this is me saying hello to you all. Fen
  18. A while ago I was wandering up to the shops and I saw a middle aged guy "walking" a little white fluffy dog. He was kinda dragging it along. When he got to the road the dog hesitated and he yanked the lead so hard the dog was lifted off the ground. When it landed it shrieked in pain and he continued to drag it across the road. The sound its poor little feet were making as it was dragged along was horrifying. I followed this guy, at a distance and worked out where he lived. That night I typed up a letter which basically said that I had witnessed how badly he had treated his dog and that if I ever saw him doing that to any animal ever again I would not hesitate in contacting the RSPCA. I also added that he must be very proud of himself treating a little dog in such a way. I put it in his letterbox the next day. I never saw them out walking again and I hope that he learned his lesson, but somehow I doubt it ;)
  19. Ooh I'd be interested to see what people recommend too, I'm in Cheltenham and I'll be looking in a few months for somewhere to go.
  20. This! I have a friend who was babysitting his sister's 2 dogs and he deliberately walked them late at night so he didn't have to pick up their poo. He said it was disgusting. I told him he was disgusting and that I'm sure he would be peeved if he stepped in it and it got stuck to his shoe etc. I just don't understand this attitude in people. It's common courtesy for your fellow human being.
  21. What a cutie and how exciting that he will be landing soon.
  22. I heard on ABC radio that a place in Coldstream was looking for dog food donations and they were taking a truck up to the Vic flood affected area today or tomorrow to drop off dog food as it was in short supply. Sorry for the vagueness, I can't remember exact details.
  23. Good lord, that's horrifying. Those poor poor little darlings.
