Totally Agree, do they have a 'Plan B' Agree again, you cant save every dog. Some rescue groups also seem to 'use' the 'unhealthy dog that needs alot of work' as a form of promotion for how good they are, RescuEGOds, I call them. There have been several dogs that have been saved with horrific injuries that really it would be in the dogs best interest to be pts, but instead they post the 'progress' as a form of promoting their rescue. The dogs will never have quality of life and can never be rehomed. And this last post I totally agree with, I have seen dogs in commercial kennels that have been 'rescued' but are still here some 8 mths later and I have never seen anyone visit them from the rescue group who 'saved' them, again where is their quality of life and what damage had been done to their mental state, and how can that rescue group rehome a dog they have never visited or interacted with? and finally, my last point of view stems from the original question about taking in the dog and THEN asking for donations, it is not unlike the Rescue Groups who put saves on dogs and get them out of the kennels and THEN put out posts of 'URGENT FOSTER CARERS NEEDED' we have a dog coming.????? Thats defineately putting the cart before the horse. Of course all of this is IMO :-)

Just an update on my online purchase of Comfortis 18-27kg from Petsgard.com.au. Very impressed, great communication, I received emails when the order was received, payment received, order processed and order despatched. Great turn around time and $61.00 delivered and the item has a 2013 used by date. So defineately recommend them.

Thanks everyone, I have just sent my payment to Petsgard.com.au, I looked at everyones posts and they still appeared to be the cheapest (except for this one above (k9angel) but only by $3) will let you all know how the transaction goes, I had found them mentioned in some other threads too from a couple of years ago so figured they must have been around a while. As for priceless pets, they do seem to over state the 'usual petshop and vet prices' quite significantly to make them appear cheaper, but of all the posts here they still seemed to be the most expensive, so might be worth looking into some of these other places when you next place your orders :-)

Hi everyone, Just wondering which online pet supplies (medications) you have all used and found to be good and reliable. Am looking at buying 'Comfortis' online but don't know which online stores can be trusted. I've looked at 'Petsgard' they are in QLD, anyone used them? Prefer to buy form an Australian site too. Is 'Dogmovers' a legitimate dog transport company and they are using their name or is there no such business at all and it is them disguising themselves as the dog transport company they are using? As an aside, has anyone seen the movie 'Catfish'? This whole senario reminds me of this movie. (and the movie is a documentary, not fiction)

Hi I too rescued a Husky in December from the pound. He was 7 years old then, so now he's 8. I had never had a Husky b4 either. (German Shepherd and Labradors b4) When we got Humphrey he was very underweight and even now he is not at all food motivated and so it was very hard to get weight onto him. We bought him a Kong, which he looked at and gave us a look like 'what do you want me to do with that?'. He's completely not interested in any treats, and doesnt even show any interest when we are eating our dinner. Very different to German Shepherds and Labradors We feed him Nutro Natures Choice (Chicken) dry food and wet. (You can get it at Petbarn - its currently on special!) We tried the lamb version too but he prefers the chicken, and it gives him nice firm stools. He also has an easily upset stomach, he may love bones and the like but they upset him. He also has days when he doesnt eat at all and then he starts again, so we now dont panic about that, he's just different to any other dog we've had As for the Furminator, I think its great and do use it. When he first came to us he was in bad condition and his fur was coming out in handfuls, you could ruffle up his coat out side and it would look like some some small animal had been destroyed. We would have to vaccuum daily but now he's in good condition its not nearly as bad. Humphrey is not a jumper but he is a digger, Huskys can be great escape artists so you need to be careful of that. We have built him a pen complete with a kennel AND a human size lounge and is about 4M x 5M and on a concrete floor under our pergola and he is very happy there when we are at work. He cant dig. Exercise is the key! Humphrey gets 2 walks a day at least 30min long, then he is satisfied, and will curl up beside us on the lounge like a big cat and go to sleep. Thanks for that info about Kenzie, sounds like Mack I guess my ideas of what would be comfortable for him aren't necessarily his ideas! He actually got onto his bed last night and slept for about half an hour so I got into bed feeling very pleased about it but then up he got, wandered into another room and dropped to the floor and slept the rest of the night! He's such a funny boy! He could also have problems feeling stable on a soft bed, with his bad hips. Finds it hard to get a steady grip to get up.

Probably is just too hot and not in the habit of such luxury, maybe try a trampoline bed or those ones made of that green or black weave stuff, not so warm but not as hard as the floor.

Well now that I can see to type this reply ( I have read this thread from the beginning to end in one sitting and have streams of tears both happy and sad running down my face)... anyway, I'd like to say that Mack found you and needed you just as much as you found/needed him. He will be around for some time yet and be a constant reminder to you that the work you do is all worth it. His progress to date shows how much healthier he is and probably 90% of that is just because of the love, attention & stability he is now getting (although I cant remember you if you mentioned how much you loved him ?) His mental state has sped up all the progress he's/you've made with his health. To have that much hair growth in a short time shows he is healthy on the inside. Cancer Smancer Great Great Great Great work. And you can look forward to oooddles of good karma coming your way. True, but, the way they structure and promote their product does unfortunately attract those who really shouldn't receive the card/credit. Most of their promotional products/credit are offered at no repayments, no interest and no deposit, and whether you 'pass' their lending criteria is usually based purely on the annual income you disclose to them over the phone (no proof required). If you are listed in the white pages, and your address on your licence is current then you pass. There are no forms to fill out. You are not required to (in most cases) make any repayments during the interest free period and this is where people get caught, each month something else comes up that needs to be paid first and then people think 'I still have plenty of time'. Then b4 they know it, the 12 mths is up and they are going to be hit with 29% interest. Other companies who offer a similar 'product' are true 'interest free', in that you supply the company with your bank account details and then the amount of the purchase is divided by 12 and that amount comes out of your account automatically every month, so by the end of the 12 month period, it is paid off. People who are not finance/budget savvy see 'no interest, no repayments and no deposit' and think yee haaa!!!!! (and so too does GE at the end of the 12 mth period).

Definately get the dedicated credit card with an interest free period. GE does have a monthly account keeping fee and a once off establishment fee (which I think varies dependant on the retailer, but is around $35) . I doubt you would be able to add more to it if you didnt owe anything and if you dont pay it back within the interest free period, it is either 27 or 29% interest. So having a low rate cc with 55 days interest free and then depositing money into it regularly would be the way to go in my opinion.

Just looking into possible boarding kennel for my dog. (3-4 day period). When I look at the internet and kennel websites, it intrigues me that so many have 'allocated inspection times' or 'inspection by appointment only'. Well this sets alarm bells off for me cause it suggests that it you rock up at any other time, that the kennels will be in less than acceptable condition. So are there any that you dog lovers would recommend in the Castle Hill NSW area. And any that are recommended will still be receiving an unannounced inspection visit :-) P.S, not interested in your opinion if you happen to run/manage or work at the boarding kennel you suggest Thanks in advance
