  1. I buy Jalna as well, usually the vanilla or strawberry small tub and my two share one a week. Never had any problems
  2. Haha I was thinking the same thing ;)
  3. He should be fine. With chocolate it depends on the type (dark, is worse as it contains ^ amounts of theobromine), the amount and the size of the dog. Considering your guy is quite small it may be worth giving the after hours vet a call.
  4. You just made me cry What a lucky puppy!!
  5. Try not to worry too much!! You have done all the important things i.e. tick is off and monitoring for any symptoms. Handy to be going to the vet tomorrow, even if it just helps put your mind at ease! I have removed dozens of paralysis ticks off my dogs over the years, for many years we lived in a VERY bushy area backing onto a national park. Despite using fortnightly tick treatments the buggers still seemed to fine their way onto the dogs. There was only once where I missed one (on my border), she developed voice change and hind quarters weakness and she was rushed straight to the vet. We caught it early and she was home two days later. I do remember it being rather costly though... $500-800 by memory?? Sure your boy will be fine, just keep an eye on him and if you are at all worried best to take him straight to the vet.
  6. So sad Last year I pulled over to the side of the road to pick up a long neck turtle that was shuffling across, it had been raining so it was simply moving to another pond. A car was coming up behind as I pulled over so I pointed and waved so they would see it. They did, and they came from further across the road so that their wheels went straight over it. I was devastated, they were doing >100Ks/hr and the turtle stood no chance. I got back in my car and cried I can only hope that Karma does exist.
  7. Gary Barnsley or Peter Schofield are Sydney based Thankyou
  8. I appreciate that you are trying to encourage people to desex to reduce unwanted litters, however one dog that is 'well put together' is hardly substantial evidence that early desexing has no consequences Edit to add: he is gorgeous hoping he finds his forever home!!
  9. I have the same problem in a 6mth old pup at the moment! Can anyone recommend a dog chiro in Sydney/blue mountains area??
  10. As someone else mentioned, everyone has to start somewhere! My breed of choice are Kelpies, as a result I doubt I will ever breed, there are just too many young and healthy kelpies being euthanised everyday If Olive does end up being a great representation of her breed and you go down the path of breeding, at least you are going into it with your eyes wide open Glad you are enjoying your pup so much as well! When my first kelpie was that age she was such a handful I did not think I would ever own another dog let alone breed Little monster has improved greatly since then though, and now I have another little terror :D
  11. I understand why you would want to breed, but your little girl being gorgeous is not reason enough Everyday so many dogs are put down in shelters, unless you are adding something to the breed e.g. 'raising the bar' with your litter then I think it is a bad idea. Also bringing up a litter is an ENORMOUS amount of hard work, you will have many sleepless nights and many early starts. You could end up with a litter of 10 or so pups. How would you manage with 10 or so 7wk old labs tearing up the place ;) A lot of people don't realise the risk to the bitch as well. Bitches do die giving birth and sometimes even with the best planning things go very very wrong. What if there is something wrong with the pups? Could you have them put down or keep them yourself if they ended up with a problem meaning they could not be rehomed? A member of DOL is going through this very scenario right now. Good on you for asking the question though Many people feel like you do and I am glad your girl is so special to you.
  12. Nothing that I am aware of. Options in Syd include Erskine Park or Hawkesbury
  13. I am in Lithgow, will keep an eye out!
  14. If you are okay with it would you put up a few of the places you stay along the way? And where you leave the dog when you go somewhere with no dogs allowed? I would love to do the trip at some point and any tips would be great
  15. Sounds like an awesome trip! I def agree with the others, best to keep him contained at night, crate would be a good idea. He may stick close to you most of the time but if a roo or rabbit streaks across his path he will take off! If he ends up on a property he risks being shot by a farmer protecting their stock. Have an awesome time!!
  16. Have you tried the orbee tough balls with rope attached? Not sure if they would be strong enough but they work for my two
  17. Thank you for taking her And thanks to BMAK for all the ground work! Pleased to see this girl has another chance!!
  18. I had the exact same thing happen to me a few weeks ago, certainly gave me a fright!! I had bought my 5mth old the puppy kong as she is still quite small and it really did seem the most appropriate size. Luckily I was sitting outside with her when she started gagging. Managed to get it our with my help, and it is now in the bin!! Glad your gorgeous girl is okay!
  19. I know when I got my first puppy I struggled a lot initially. My previous dog was not perfect but we were in sync. If I spoke a certain way she would always listen and I just knew her SO well. Then this little bundle of devil puppy came along that seemed to know nothing, which of course she did not :D I spent so much time and energy trying to get her to 'behave' that I forgot how important and wonderful the puppy stage is! I really missed out on enjoying her for a little while, until I learned to laugh. I accepted that she would grow up and with training she would learn and in the mean time her boundless energy and enthusiasm made things so enjoyable for me! I wanted so hard for her to be the perfect dog straight away, which was of course not going to happen! I had very unrealistic expectations about this little girl. Now she is 15mths old and I have another pup that is 6mths old and I would not change a thing. My older one has grown into a gorgeous dog and with the little one, I am simply enjoying the puppy stage. Best of luck with your little one, lower your expectations and I am sure you will be fine
  20. So sorry You gave the poor little mite a chance, sometimes that is all it takes. He died with many people caring and trying to pull him through, far better then if he had never been rescued by you.
  21. Professional help! I have an appointment tomorrow for my 5mth old Kelpie pup that does this. From the day I bought her home from the pound this was an issue for her. She is completely gorgeous in all other areas The problem with resource guarding is that it may progress to her finding other items of value and displaying the same behaviour. E.g. one day you may not be let near her toy or even her bed. It can potentially become a very dangerous problem. Best of luck!
