  1. Yes you are lucky- it is most annoying to spend hours putting together a list of potential names only for OH to say no to every one in 2 minutes! Rosie is gorgeous- love the pic on the scales
  2. Claude is a great name. I have an OH like that who pretty much says no to every name I come up with!
  3. I love the name Halo. So original and sweet.
  4. Angelo as he's an angel We only decided his name the night prior to picking him up! It's so hard to chose a name. Wasn't toilet trained, but we also have a very large house which would be daunting for a pup to know where things are. We used a crate and my husband set his alarm every 2hrs to take him out at night (bless his cotton socks ) after a few weeks no alarm was needed and Angelo would cry twice a night to go out, then once a night. Then at about 17 weeks we left the crate door open and crossed our fingers and no messes in the morning. I thought that was quite quick. His biggest hurdle was the doggy door, we built a little ramp so he didn't have to jump and could just step through and tied the actual doggy door up so it wouldn't hit him. Now he looks like a agility dog jumping through it (around 20 weeks).
  5. I like Tempe! It's different... I'm the same as you I don't like dogs with same name as other dogs.... Besides would make things confusing on here I looked at Japanese names but couldn't find one that suited (or yes, could pronounce). So ended up with an Italian name for a Japanese dog
  6. How far away is your pup to drive Lucious? Apologies if you have mentioned earlier. Hi, it is a 12 hour drive there and then same return. I got quoted $216 to fly him over though, so leaning towards flying. But im worried he will get sick or lost or something horrible! lol That is a considerable distance- Whisked Away I hadn't thought of the angle of pup getting car sick and safe spots to stop for toilet breaks, good point. Perhaps a quick flight is better. I would also worry about something horrible happening on flight, but so many people seem to fly dogs so must be ok.

  8. Was debating this with extended family members recently. I think the average cost of a puppy from a reputable registered breeder is extremely good, they said they could never pay more than a few hundred dollars or free even. This is a a new member of your family, your companion for the next 10-15 years, yet they will pay more for a dining table or plasma, or yes, holiday. We were intending on getting a pup from a breeder in Victoria earlier this year but litter didn't eventuate; we were going to drive 11.5 hrs there and back to meet breeder, parents and collect. Yes we could have had the pup flown up, but weighing up a few days out of our lives vs. meeting the breeder face to face, meeting the furry parents of the pup who we'll love and adore and pup not having to fly- there's no question! And I don't show or breed, furry companions only.
  9. I like Karlo... I've been looking a Finnish girls names for my to be lappie, found the perfect name the other day (and husband liked, which doesn't happen often) then googled the name + Finnish Lapphund and saw there was one in Australia closely related to breeder... grrrrrr.... Katie do you have your name picked? Are you going Japanese?
  10. Is it just a matter of no transportation? I'm on the Central Coast, happy to drive her there in the morning. Let me know.
  11. Anywhere, anytime for the right pup
  12. Wow, that's amazing Rysup, well done.
  13. Hi Smartypaws, How exciting! What breed? Do you have pics?
  14. Everyone seems to say lappies are addictive ;)
  15. Anna it only recently dawned on me (dawn not right word- people pointing it out in the Spitz thread) that Finn was short for the country of origin! And I'm hopefully getting a lappie puppy soon! I had been wondering throughout all of my research why there were so many lappie Finn's in the country. I have a nephew named Finn, perhaps why I didn't make the connection. Have been wondering if there are loads of Australian breed dogs overseas called 'Oz'
  16. Very lovely initiative. Definitely will now support her business over competitors.
  17. How sweet! I'm going to show my dad this article, he's a retired fireman. His co-workers resuscitated at cat once and he was most disgusted (not a fan on cats due to eating Aus wildlife). I think if you've got the equipment and the time why not do additional things to serve the community.
  18. That is so strange - Ziva often has way more energy than the labs, BCs etc in our class! Good to see the DAP worked Not energy as in running around etc. he has plenty of that. How do I explain it.... uncontrolled/clumsy energy, where as Angelo seems more deliberate in his physical movements. I second Katie's request, photos, name?
  19. It's really false/misleading advertising on PP's part isn't it? If a breed doesn't exist how can you sell it?
  20. Amazing when people think the 'oodles' etc are actual breeds...A friend on Facebook recently got a new pup, a ' purebred moodle maltese shih tsu'. Husband replied 'Pure bred mutt?'
