  1. Thanks ETH, yes I think the 'A' theme is going to be the winner. Thanks for adding food for thought re pronunciation. Harper- will be checking for your pics tomorrow, good luck
  2. Ummm yes the pronunciation of these names make it tricky. To me Mikka sounds feminine. Heikki is my favourite from that list I thought Ronan was really good. Ok, now help me :D I have- Anika/Anika/Anica- means grace, beautiful face and variants of these. Danika/Danica- means morning star Vespera- means evening star Zara- light Aquila Sari- noble lady or princess I started looking at blue sorts of names because of her blue eye. There's a Sinnika (sp?) lappie already in Au, which means blue in Finnish. There's Saphira (various spellings) and Azure. Snofyre suggested Frank/Frankie because of the blue eye
  3. Awww gorgeous Anna. Your breeder does well, when we visited the pups on the weekend it was so incredibly hard to take a decent picture as they were so active.
  4. Inevitablue how exciting! Tess will be happy to have another puppy to play with I'm sure. I remember seeing Tess's winning Dogs NSW 'puppy of the month' picture. My Japanese Spitz, Angelo won it the month after Tess
  5. That's great Chihuahualover and I love your name. Looking forward to pics.
  6. Thanks Anna. She has relatives with similar markings so have a bit of an idea how she may turn out. Ah yes, the Finnish names We are thinking Annika/Anika/Anica which is Finnish/used in Finland and means sweet faced or grace. Or Danika/Danica which means morning star from Denmark (close enough to Finland?!) We'll be arriving at the breeders house around midday on the 11th as well. We'll count down together.
  7. So much puppy activity in here Loving the photos- they are all so adorable. Anna I think we get our pups on the same days- Saturday 11th June? We visited the 6 week old pups on Sunday, they are very playful and have spurts of lots of energy and then sleeping. They have discovered they have teeth and mouths and bite and pull at shoes, pants, scarfs, anything! Our girl has one blue eye which is very rare for Finnish Lapphunds. It can look odd in photos but in real life it is beautiful. Pics: It is amazing how quickly they grow, here are some pics from when we visited at 3 weeks. They were like sleepy guinea pigs. Counting down the sleeps with you all
  8. Fantantasic Lucious (and I love using that emoticon)
  9. Just spoke to our breeder, we're going for a puppy visit this Sunday. They'll be 6 weeks.
  10. Considering a change of spitz? ;)
  11. Thanks Katie. The main differences I have noticed: - My GS greets and loves to interact with everyone and always has. Where as my JS will hang back and watch or take himself off to be by himself. The 'wary of strangers' per the standard definitely applies with him. - Physically the GS has more solid bone structure where as the JS has a lighter frame. - GS seem to have more attitude and are more cheeky. I haven't included differences which may be gender related, such as my GS never leaves my shadow where as my JS love to independently explore the house and yard. And haven't included differences which may be age related such as GS loves to cuddle where as JS can only tolerate cuddles for 30 seconds at a time (I steal cuddles when he's really sleepy). However as a puppy my GS loved to be cuddled and carried as well. My JS only barks very occasionally when 'hunting' food, no watch dog barking. I don't think this is representative of the breed though and I do find it odd for a Spitz (not complaining!) They are both extremely people orientated- my dog training organisation has facilitated play sessions which we attend. While dogs are charging around left right and centre knocking each other over, barking and generally going crazy my two sit in front of me, still, staring at me with such focus. My trainer says they are thinking 'mum why are we here with these dogs?'. I should add a disclaimer that this is in my experience only, having owned only one of each breed and that the GS is 10yrs old where as the JS is still a puppy. I would be interested to hear from others who own one of each.
  12. I have managed to escape unscathed, thus far :p I didn't make it
  13. Yay Smartypaws!!! Fantastic news. Love the name scout. He's so handsome! Taco
  14. You know Chihuahualover, at least Diego had a few days with you, days of love and affection and he didn't die a prolonged death with the 'breeder'.
