When Did You Get A New Furry Family Member?
Ambrosia replied to Pretty Miss Emma's topic in General Dog Discussion
I've only ever lost one dog, last December to a tick, he was 9. We were just so sad with only the one dog and she was sad without a doggy friend. He was the entertainer in the family and it was eerily quiet without him. It felt right 3 months later to welcome a puppy. I think it also gave us appreciation for the doggy circle of life, one ends, one begins. We recently welcomed another puppy- 3 is much better than 2 I have cried for the recent losses, I'm so sorry -
Happy birthday Gemma!

Do You Have A List Of What Breeds You Want To Own One Day?
Ambrosia replied to Aztec Gold's topic in General Dog Discussion

Thinking of you.

I keep forgetting to go into the white fluff thread Silly me. Angelo is 6 months tomorrow! He is very athletic, fast, strong, coat is getting thicker, he is always so happy go lucky, loves his toys, gets messy outside (luckily it falls off), basically a typical little boy. He is not naughty at all except for ripping toys open and putting the stuffing everywhere. 100% toilet trained and has stopped puppy biting/mouthing. He's awesome. He was in Dogs NSW magazine this month- finally his puppy of the month picture was published! Sorry for hijacking- this has made me realise it is time to leave this thread and move on to the thread where people have their puppies.
-
I'm sure I can do that. Just bought a fancy camera, now have to figure out how to use it then will have plenty more. Hopefully on the weekend. Have some pics of Angelo & Annika playing. He is being so good playing with her (he's 6.5kg, she is 3kg- will quickly change though) he is very gentle and stops at any sign of a cry. He was so funny when we brought Annika home. He was staring at her, like what is it? Then Annika did a puppy pounce inviting him to play- the look on his face was like 'Oh my god it's a dog!!! They bought me a dog!!!!!!!!!!' Then he raced around the backyard (he is so fast now) before returning the puppy play pounce to Annika to commence the puppy play. I should move to the thread for people who now have puppies.... but this thread is so exciting

I like Paddy, I'm with you Thanks Shelley- Annika's pretty rare with the one blue eye. It looks different in different lights though.
-
Shelley he's adorable! What breed is he? Do you have a name for him?
-
How exciting good luck with Zorro tomorrow Atanquin! Saxonpup Riley will be fine- I think us puppy mums go over the top sometimes with preparation. It is very quiet in here now- I think a few of us have got our pups now. I've barely posted since Saturday as my new little muffin is keeping me very busy! Will still pop in to see the cute puppies

Amber was nameless for about a week as nothing seemed to suit. But then overheard someone at the vets calling their dog Amber and it seemed perfect for my girl who has a hint of ginger in her coat. Angelo- After compiling almost a hundred potential names this was the only one my OH liked! It suits him as he is a Japanese Spitz, so being white and fluffy he couldn't pull off a very masculine name. He is angelic though Annika- We seemed to have an 'A' theme going on (and even with my DOL username oddly!) plus we wanted a Finnish name for our Lappie. I like the name Anakin as well. Plus OH agreed on it!

I'm researching the Grossspitz/Giant Spitz- came across reference to the AED coming from the breed, interestingly it says the American's renamed the breed AED as there were negative emotions associated with Germans at the time (Gross/Giant being part of the German Spitzes). Interesting how Germany's actions in the world affected the German Spitz- my understanding is the German Spitz & Pomeranians lost popularity in England during this time as well.
-
That was really interesting Kimyata. Do you know if there have ever been any AED's in AU? I've seen a 'tree' picture showing the origin and development of the world's languages- I've always thought it would be interesting to see a 'tree' depicting the development of some of the Spitz breeds.

Please someone tell me I'm not crazy, just went looking for the Amber pup which was a gorgeous different coloured Border Collie, or at least I think it was and can't find it... Or did I have two threads open and reply in the wrong one.... oh dear, perhaps I should have an early night.

He's gorgeous Harper!

Saxonpup Riley is gorgeous!!!! You are right, it is so much harder once you now which one is yours and have their pictures. Thanks for everyone's feedback on names. It is difficult as you will be saying their name daily for 10-15 years. It's funny though once they are old you cannot imagine them with any other name.
