  1. LL, move to NSW and we can share a property. I love labs, as long as you love manic working sheep dogs.
  2. They might be doing the right thing, but in my opinion it is the wrong neighbourly thing to do (they share the benefit of the trees), my other neighbours can't believe it, they all want to put the dog crap in the bad ones letter box. All neighbours hate this dog.
  3. I'm going to score a perfect score with my dog, not sure if it will be this year.
  4. Next shit I will photograph just so I can share.
  5. Another thing that pisses me off is we have a lovely Lilipilly hedge along our boundary fence (I only have one neighbour). They make the properties private and screen our yards nicely. They put a pool in last year and trim my lillipillys and throw them back over my fence, WTF, they make their pool private and are slow growing and have an upright habit. They would fit easily in their green waste bin, but I struggle with returning their dogs' shit, what is wrong with me?
  6. I wish i could just throw it back on their lawn but they only let him out on weekends when they are home and I don't want to be that obvious, wish I could be. I could always save it up for when they are at work.
  7. My next doors dog shits on my front lawn and it drives me nuts. Mostly because I couldn't imagine my dogs shitting on their lawn and me thinking that was ok, as they seem too. Also I would never let my dogs roam free to be able to do this. It always shits between a tree in my front yard and the letter box so it is impossible to miss. Usually I phone them and ask them to pick it up which they always oblidge, I could easily pick it up but I think the principle of it makes it hard for me to do that. Anyway today I was shitted off and went to their door, I don't want to disrespect my neighbours and like the relationship we have but this is really driving me nuts. I make myself sick over having to ring them or tell them, but come on! I was shocked that the husband gave me attitude, I apoligised for coming over and said how uncomfortable it makes me feel but if they are going to continually let their dog out they should check my front lawn as he always craps in the same spot. He said 'do I know it's their dog?' Well hello, it's the only loose dog in the area. This dog has also in the past bitten my son and bailed up my visitors in my own driveway, they feel it is easier to let him out then walk him. I have never wanted to ring the Ranger as I have three dogs, you are only allowed two and my dogs do bark a bit through the day as they are very high drive and always want to to do stuff, I think I will go and see the Ranger tomorrow. I am over it and if the worse comes to it I will move. Rant over.
  8. I will sometimes feed/reward my dog just for being so damm cute, I don't think this a problem though. By cute I mean giving me such great attention so it is not a bad thing to reward it IMO.
  9. Yes, but you can have him measured the day of the trial before competing. Just write down your unofficial measurement on you entry and let the trial secretary know you require a measure the moring of the trial.
  10. We didn't make it so it could go low as I have/had big dogs.
  11. My OH made me this (photo bucket does not want to play ATM ) which has worked well but you win with the 'Awww' factor. Will post pics later if you want.
  12. Tassie you can gladly have our rain, I swear it has rained at least every other day since August. Two of my three dogs have blistered pads because their feet are so soft form all the rain..........grrrr.
  13. We have had heaps of rain grrrrr, don't even want to talk about how much. My dogs think it is far to wet to go toilet on the wet grass but play, 'oh yeah' we're up for it. It is apparantly never too wet to play.

  15. Erny, I tried to PM you and your inbox is full.
  16. I agree 100% with his post, you only have to go with your eyes open to know it's true. I see dogs, puppies with a check chain on that are being strangled, if the dog is that strong it needs one on one training. :p
  17. I teach my dogs to jump up on me by invitation only. I have found it easy to train and it is really clear for the dog, I call it 'paws up'. Most people the dog meet wont appreciate them jumping on them so I think it's best to train it.
  18. I agree change to Advantage/Advantix. Sometimes you just need a change and so do the fleas.
  19. Yep I think you would get more from Steve as you have the same problem as me, lots of drive just the dog doesn't understand that they have to do stuff to get it. Lights on nobody home when they see that frisbee. I love Sue though and think she is the best Obedience trainer in Aus, mostly because she can connect with people that train any way, she does it without being judgemental and wins them over with the results. I honestly couldn't pick, If your dog has no drive you might not enjoy Steve or maybe you would because he could show you how important it is......... I will try to go to both, I will have to camp for the Steve one , Will you do it on a day trip? It's two days.
  20. Off Topic You both should go to Sue Hogben at CT(I think it's in June), you would love it. It is just a two day weekend one.
  21. I'm sure someone will come and suggest a trainer in your area but in the mean time, dogs only do what works, so she is getting some sort of reward from the jumping up. She is only a dog and you must be smarter, so work out what is in it for her, if you change the reward (to her) you will change the behavour. Maybe she needs to learn that she will only get attention when all four feet are on the ground, maybe you could teach her that sitting is the only the way people will give her love and attention, that is what you need to work out.
