Have you tried giving them lots of the same toy? Or does he want all the toys?
-
I think so.

I have trialled a Novice dog in QLD and not did not have to have the previous sweepstake entry and result. I'm from NSW, we are so special we can just enter QLD trials.

Skateboard Obsession Any Thoughts?
PAX replied to Quickasyoucan's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
You could use your dogs obsession to train a great new trick. -
I just wanted to add that most of the problems we have in heelwork is that we think it is boring. If we think that way how can we ever get attittude and animation from our dogs? All fun things must come from heelwork and you can use that on the agiltiy field. Happy Heeling.

Check out the Brags thread. -
Anyone that knows my dog will understand what a 'brag moment' this is. My timid dog did not one, but TWO SFE today and did not move. I can't believe it, thought it would never happen. There is hope for us yet.

Woohoo, way to go. and that is all the happy celebration emoticons I could find. Go Ed. :D

Really? That's a bit sad.

The obedience is very, very basic, it is more to show that the dog can respond they same way after the test as it did before.

Yep I agree, make it a game and use something motivational like a favourite ball or toy. You can do this at dinner time, ask for down then give the dinner bowl. The dog will quickly learn the quicker the response the quicker it gets what it wants. Ask for a drop/down, as soon as the dog hits the down throw the toy. The dog will soon learn that the faster it goes down the faster it gets it's reward. IMO if you use corrections (I have seen people stomp on the lead) it will only make your dog down slower.

TB, just don't go over board, It's best to get a little bit down and stay down then more that comes back up. You know how to check his skin and gums for hydration I'm sure. Hugs to you and Atlas.

TB, some anti biotics can make dogs throw up, clavulox often upsets their tummy. It's catch 22 as they really shouldn't have them on an empty stomach. Hopefully the vet can help him quickly. Hugs to Atlas.

I think you mean ADAA http://www.adaa.com.au/

AR dogs couldn't trial in QLD in the past but now they can, just the same as NSW. Search the CCCQ website and you should find out what you need to know.

Kowai, Jumpers class has jumps and tunnels, no contacts or weaves so you can compete in ANKC jumping trials.

Why don't you google female artists of the genre you like. I like the name 'Jazz' for a dog.

In NSW some clubs will not accept photo copies and you need to purchase the entry forms from Dogs NSW, not sure about other states. If you print them off the computer make sure you cut them to size as this is very annoying when people post them on A4 paper. ;)

You can purchase them from dogwise. http://www.dogwise.com/search.cfm

You could try throwing a bit of food back behind him as he is almost at you, a few reps of this should have him breaking a little earlier. Sometimes taking a step towards him and stare at the spot you wont him to sit at. Also really heavily reward the front position so it has a very high value for him to get there.

I buy pork or beef when it's cheap(er) and roast it for training treats. I usually add bits of cheese and any other yummy things from the fridge into the treat bag. If I gave Chill vegies I'm sure I would get the 'what the' look, then she would roll it around in her mouth for five minutes and spit it out.

I have heard that putting dog poo in socks or stockings and pegging them on the line helps to discourage pulling washing.

Hi Miranda, I buy the large Advantix for my Dobe and I put half a tube on my BC and half on the Koolie, it is in a 4ml tube so I just measure out 2 ml in a syringe.
