  1. Thanks Tiggy, wait until his new dog is on the green carpet.
  2. All I can add is Kamal is my new hero, I am creating a shrine to worship him....lol. :D I have struggled for years to get a SFE on my Koolie and it is now fixed...well I think it is, next trial will tell. (There was very little that *I* took away from the seminar that I didn't already know about as I have done a lot of personal study on clicker training methods etc, but I saw a lot of other people having 'wow' moments as they figured out all this +R stuff! hehe.) I hope you got 'something' out of it Flyingduster, perhaps we should book you for seminars.
  3. Agree with PF, if they were aware of this dogs agression it is a club problem.
  4. Dog bless her enthusiasm...she is awesome, great job on the attitude!
  5. Without your dog, try bouncing a ball and click the ball at it's highest point, helps with your timing and doesn't spoil your click. And yes, if you click...reward, or else you're cheating your dog. Like others have said, train tricks first so you're not putting pressure on yourself. Have fun, that's the most important part, it's only dog training afterall.
  6. Oh yeah, pre purchase your tickets to Crufts, the BIS tickets are seperate to the rest. I am not into dog showing but loved the BIS, it was great except for the crazy protesters...lol. The plane trip is so bad, be nice to be rich and go first class. Wear comfy clothing for the mega flight, and remeber it is going to be cold when you land so pack a warm coat in your travel onboard luggage.
  7. I went this year and am planning on going next year. My top tips would be to try and pack light, when you get there everything is on sale as it's the end of there Winter, the clothes there are so much better quality for warmth than what we can buy here. Stay at the Hilton or Crown (I think) for Crufts days, as it is right at the NEC so you don't have to drive. Everywhere you go is air conditioned so you just need good warm top layer clothes for getting from A to B. Keep your eye on the dollar and pound and buy your GBP when it is trading well. We were lucky and bought ours at 68 cents. You will spend a fortune on dog stuff if you are anything like me and my friends. Buy extra luggage weight before you go so you are not worried about the excess when you come home, we had thirty kilos each and just scraped in , I even bought an extra suitcase over there. Go to the pound shop over there (our equivelent of the 2 dollar shops) and get some vacumm bags, they are amazing, you wouldn't believe what you can suck in them, fold them into your suitcase before you start packing and sucking them, the hotels are happy to lend you a vacc. When you buy stuff at Crufts, if you say you are from a club you get amazing discounts, also the last day, sellers are very negotiable. If you plan to drive around the UK get a good Sat Nav and upload the maps before you leave, I did this and it was a blessing. Have a fab time, it is just amazing.
  8. Wife and I are getting divorced and both of us want the dogs but can't agree, so neither of us should have them???
  9. I have had pro shots done by Ruthless Photography and was thrilled with the results. Ruth also won an MBDA award this year for her work, she is brilliant and really captures our dogs personality. You can do a search on DOL for her work, there will be heaps in the photos section or look here. http://www.ruthlessphotos.com/about/?pg=about Cheers

    Rex

Aww, I am just lost for words. What about our Santa pics with strange dogs, Rex was an angel. I don't have those pics on this computer but hopefully you do. We don't get to keep our beloved dogs for long enough, but Rex had a great life, if only all dogs got his great life. Hope that brings you some comfort, also you have your Furia, Rex taught you so much about training and Furia is his shining example....big hugs. Rex will never be forgotton. Luv you heaps.
  12. I have read this and it is a great book, worth the money even if you don't do Schutzhund. Sheila Booth has another book called "Positive Obedience" also a great read.
  13. Camp Tailwaggers would be perfect but a bit more than 2-3 hours. Have you checked the Vic journal?, sometimes stuff like this is advertised in the Dogs NSW journal.
  14. Think the Tucson is now superseeded by the IX35.
  15. Deb at Acacia Lodge has a fantastic kennel set up, She IMO looks after the dogs very similar to me, the only difference is her kennels are nicer. If I ever had to leave my dogs for boarding, Acacia Lodge is the only place my dogs would stay. When I was OS ealier this year all my boarders stayed with Deb at Acacia Lodge. Acacia lodge gets my huge thumbs up, I would have no hesitation refering Deb and Acacia Lodge.
  16. Thanks everyone for the thumbs up. Send me a PM if you would like contact details, I don't have a website. Also don't want any biting Dobermans........lol.
  17. I have had four bitches live happily together, one was the Queen and the other three are submissive. The Queen has now gone to the bridge and the pack structure has remained the same, they are all sweet and non threatening, I guess it really depends on the breed and nature of the bitches in question, and perhaps also the leadership and training??. If your dog is a sweet submissive girl I wouldn't imagine any problems, if she is a bossy bitch then I would agree with the breeder and get a Dog. Maybe take your girl to meet the GSD breeder???
  18. There is an obedience club at Hobartville that train on Monday nights, start around 6pm (I think). Blacktown train Tuesday nights and Wednesday nights for triallers.
