The towell works but the drips go all the way to the loungroom:(( Guess I just have to live with it ;)
-
One of my dogs. that lives indoors, dribbles all over the kitchen floor after he drinks. I keep a towell under the water bowl and another towell to clean up the drips. How do other people manage this problem? I have nearly slipped so many times sliding in the drips. ;) Have also got outdoor water bowls but the water indoors must taste better. :p ETA for typos

I have a human treadmill that the dogs walk on but its too small for one of the dogs. I was thinking about buying a dog treadmill like this one. 'Superior' Fit Fur Life Treadmill $3575.00 http://www.fitfurlife-australia.com/catego...fur-life-models Has anyone any experience with this brand?? I have to go with this size model for my dogs size, its a lot of money but am happy to pay it if it works out.

I agree, as bizarre as it seems to most of us, the average Joe has no idea where or how to get a PB puppy, let alone health testing and everything else. You only need to read the topic of the blue Stafford pup in the puppy section to understand how the average person thinks. They read the TP, go to Pet Shops or google. I would happily sell those people a 'desexed' mate for their dog, when people know better, they do better. It's not like the ANKC is advertising where and how you purchase a PB puppy. If you're not an ANKC member or somehow in the know how would you know where to buy a good PB puppy. I think our well spent ANKC fees should go on a TV ad spot on how to buy a purebred puppy.

It wont let me vote. I trial and I do volunteer. I originally trained at a small country club that always struggled for helpers. That meant I didn't get to trial my own dogs as I had too many jobs helping to run the trial. Because of that, I have a really good appreciation of how much work goes into running a trial, and help whenever and however I can. I love it when it is an away trial and I can just focus on my dogs and enjoy the company of my trialling friends. I am always gracious to the judges, stewards and all the other workers that make the trial happen as I've been there and know how hard it is to pull it off.

Have a look at the OP. Is that what you mean by "see" ? It goes from nine to fifteen??

It is not so easy just to want to change things. Each State gets votes on rule changes, WA and TAS get one vote, the other states get two votes (is what I believe by numbers of members). Each State has a representative, that puts forward what that state wants in the rule changes. All these ideas are bought forward and decided, it's a long process.

Yes for sure and I was there, were you?

Is there anywhere to see all the nominees...1 to whatever?

If we all got to change the rules we didn't like, the list would be endless, I could name many rules I would like to see changed.
-
I'm pretty sure in Schutzhund the commands must be given in German even in Oz, rules are rules. It is only a cue to the dog, I cant see why it would be a problem.

My Daughter has a Brittany and he drives me nuts, he is ADD and I own two working breeds and a WL Mal.

Buggar, was hoping to show off my boy...lol

Completely agree (especially with my fav breed - ACD's), whilst training can alter many behaviours, why start off with an undesirable personality. The breeder of my new puppy has selected for temperment for generations ACD's as friendly to strangers as Labs I totally get the need for well adjusted dogs, but it makes me feel a bit sad that a breed of dog is being bred to lose it's natural instinct for the general public. If you can't manage a dog that is true to its breed standard, you shouldn't own it. Pick another breed, don't put this on the breeders. Is the undesirable behavior the true breed personality, I would expect an ACD to guard my property. With good training an ACD should not feel the need to guard in the owners presence. I would hate for an ACD to behave like a Lab.

The first purebred dog I ever owned was an ACD. her name was Shadow and she was a great dog. I often wish I owned her now with the knowledge of training I now have. Shadow was my shadow, she was the perfect Cattle Dog and held her ground, bit many people that tried to invade her space, like most good cattle dogs, she would let them in but not out, I remember coming home many times to the bailed up electricity man...bless her. The great thing about her, she never attacked, just bit and held. When I no longer want to compete in dog sports, I will have another Cattle dog, hope it lives up to Shadow's big shoes. I don't mean to suggest ACD's can't compete, they can absoloutley, just not what I want ATM.

Training The Not-food-oriented Dog
PAX replied to wings's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I have had dogs that have never received a treat in there life, at first it seems impossible but it doesn't take long once they settle to become chow hounds. Just have fun and don't stress about it, I bet it will happen soon enough. -
This one. She'd get under my skin if she could. She loves to be on you. She'd have that Mal whipped into line in no time too. Better send that Princess over here, she wont look so cute covered in Malinois spit. He would love her:)) He also likes to be on you, could be a perfect breeding pair...Pooinois???

I see a lot of show lines that are a nervous wreck, what ever pup you get, make sure you like Mum and Dad's nature. Also ask around in the field you want it for.

Thanks Kavik, I love your dogs too. My crazy WL boy is asleep in the doorway waiting for me to finish up on the bloody computer, bless him.
