Im so out of touch! Im a little confused as to a few things and would love some clarification. (Im in Vic just in case its different state by state) 1. Someone mentioned the other week, the kids had to pre-register their dog they were taking in the final.. This (as far as Im aware) has not been published anywhere. 2. How many times can a child qualify with one breed for the STATE FINALS. I understand the DOL rule of three times with the one breed from 1st Jan- 31st Dec, but I cannot find anywhere where the amount of times from state final to state final they can win with one breed. I have an 8 year old who has qualified with a large range of breeds but has only just decided on what she is taking, so I really hope the rumour I heard about pre-registering wasnt true

They can as an associate (generic name) dog- so people in other dog sports may know of some "associate" ones, but they cannot compete in shows. I met one in the flesh many many moons ago (a friend of a friend in Mildura way had one) and to me they sort of look like an American Water Spaniel- GORGEOUS dogs. I hope your friends manage to dig up a couple to view

Murray River Retrievers arent a recognised breed here, so they would have to internet surf and find people breeding them privately as they cannot be shown

Well done Julie and her lovely lab boy!

ah well- I should have checked the catalogue after all- as I took what another successful exhibitor on the day told me. 170 aint half bad anyways!
-
Thanks Helen- trying to convince her owner to put her in a few shows cos even at 12 1/2 she still moves as good if not better than her grandaughter- only thing I see REALLY bad is her deteriorated teeth, but at her age Id let her get away with it lol
-
Thanks Helen stalking your photo page for Vet 10+ et al. The owner doesnt usually use the internet so Ill have to purchase my fav ones for her on the sly :p not hard to handle quality dogs to their best advantage cos they do all the hard work- but someone has to hold the end of the lead :)

Best in Show and Dog CC- Ch Driftway Aussie Rulz- Williams/Spagnolo Runner up in Show= Gr Ch Driftway Special Envoy- Spagnolo Bitch CC- Ch Blackboy Copper Penny (ai)= Blackboy Kennels Res Bitch CC- Ch Taikuri Understudy- Moore Now for my brag lol! I in fact handled Pippa to her class win/28 and then to res cc (which someone later told me there were 200 bitches!!!!) There were comments that this was the largest Labrador National in history in Australia. It was a thrill, and a delight, just to be selected in the final 8 in aust bred, but by final cut of 5 I was already crying! Thanks to all those exhibitors for the congratulations and advice while I was in a daze who helped me through getting her to that point. And to her owner Jeanette- Ive said it plenty of times before- its an honour and a pleasure to be Pippas slave in the ring! Pippas half brother won 4th/12 and grandmother won the 10+ veterans out of 9 at the age of 12.5 so proud of the 4 dogs I handled with 3 on the pegs! Congrats to Gina and Aussie- so happy to see the Victorians win the Victorian National!

WTG on Gossips Puppy in Comp!- looks like the gundogs had a great night- my own girl got Runner Up in Comp, even with her little idiosyncrasies! I slept pretty good last night- will wait and see what changes they make before I do it all again though- when you have to be up 4 hours later to take children to school its not a good look lol

after getting home at 1am- I must congratulate the club on a great idea IN theory. I got out of the final best in show at midnight and group one was held the instant it was finished in each ring, and our group may have been able to start our 2nd go earlier as there were lots of bored and frozen gundogs and handlers when it came time. Congrats to the bulldog who I believe was best in show all 3 shows, I didnt see the rup at the middle one, but gundogs were RUP at 2. I believe the toy entry was 47, terriers 8, Gundogs 25, Hounds 0, Working Dogs 1, Utility 3 and not sure of how many non sporting

Vesper12 I have handled a Giant Schnauzer before (like 10 years ago lol) and would be happy to give it a go if you cant find anyone. I rarely show away from KCC Park though but would be happy to help you out- drop me a PM with your email addy and Ill get in contact with you And yes- just for the experience :) I quite like the breed, just never see enough of them :)

or in-show results not sure as group 5 was only up to shelties when we left I think. I saw Carol Missen neatening a top knot on her min poodle as I was leaving so maybe that was the group winner? -
