We picked up two gorgeous GWP puppies from the same litter - with the best intentions, so one dog would not be alone when we went out. They did everything together, lived for each other, from an early age on, they always tried to outsmart us and run away into the bush - where we live. My husband once commented he never had any dogs so sneaky. Well, you always had to watch them, we took them for a drive through the paddocks, when having a minor mechanical problem with the car to fix, left the car door open, silently they were gone. Once, one of them sqeezed through ringlock netting and ran through a battery operated electrical fence. Once, they were lost for 24 hours, no homing instinct there, they were found - still running in the wrong direction from home. Last time a gate was left open, they were missing for 7 days, my husband's dog was recovered, my beloved pet was found drowned the next morning. Sad end to a great idea.

In my area/town of employment, one finds lots of Staffies being walked around. Therefore, my husband reckons Bateman's Bay could be called Staffy Bay. :laugh:

Hi Spoony, how sad to read about your Harvey's relapse, and I know how tough your journey ahead will be. Will be thinking of you both. If I was you, I would take all my holidays in one go, asap, in case there is not much time left for him. I am at peace/pleased with myself, because I have spent with Struppie every day of my five week annual leave, and persevered with the thirteen months chemo treatment. But I am very disappointed that I lost both brothers so prematurely, and will always grieve for them. I sometimes check this section of the forum for updates, after all - it was Struppies home, while he was around.

Thanks for your replies. :) No, sorry, not enquiring for me, just trying to help person/people in the future - to adopt/gain more knowledge about this progress. Time is short sometimes for people to think of all the details, to fit in the time when they are able to pick up the desexed dog, not knowing how long everything might take. Sometimes the dog's time might be running out, adopters might want/need to know the whole adoption progress in a hurry, so they can commmit themselves. Hope I found the right words.

Hi, could someone with the knowledge please inform of the correct adoption process - for private adoptions - from Renbury Farm? This could then be used as a reference guide for people wanting to adopt. After you have met the undesexed dog (not a puppy), and have paid the adoption fee, will you then leave it at the pound - and they get it desexed, how soon after payment will this desexing happen, how long after the operation can you take the now desexed dog home, pick up from their vet direct, or?? Only just looked into this thread, to read that Satch and Ari have moved on into doggy heaven. My deepest sympathy to you - wuffles and Nina, for your loss and disappointment.

Most of our Pointers had their dew claws removed by their breeders - for which we were greatful. Except our present one, who does chew his pads each summer - when certain grasses are present. I bought him 4x Ruffwear Grip Trex booties, to protect his pads when going for walkies, the fastening around the top is pushing the dew claws into the flesh of the paw, causing sores. Now we have to wrap each paw with a Band Aid or Micropore, to seperate it from the claw, before booties go on. Mum's XBreed dog, plus my Kelpie, have both broken off part of their dew claws - they all grew back pretty soon after.

So sad for all involved. Dog owners should be careful if their dogs are not used to toddlers, who have a habit of intimidating dogs by chasing after them with high pitched/squeaky voices, pulling ears, poking eyes, etc. The dog owners should make sure no harm comes to their pets (like PTSs), and don't let them get into a situation where they are being harrassed and scared by toddlers, then having to try and defend themselves. Supervision is the go, be there with them.

They will absolutely love Quinton, what a Spunk.
