Well if Bundy is cut that means the cataloguer and show secretary will not get to Maryborough... and your show manager is still stuck in Gladstone Who is the show manager? i heard it was Maxine Hobson and thought she lives Hervey Bay area. Just heard from someone, they rang Marilyn and they will making a decision if show is on or not at 3.30 - 4 pm today. Yep it is Maxine she lives in Hervey Bay, but has been with Bonnie in Gladstone and is still there courtesy of all the rain and cut roads Oh well hope maxine can get through soon. Someone from gladstone tried to get through this morning and couldnt.

I think for safety the show should be cancelled, even if they go ahead there will be more absentees than participants, most of the areas are cut with some sort of water, come on committee just cancel, lives are more important than shows in my opinion any way. Narelle Well said Narelle i think show should be cancelled. There is way too many people that would have risk and its not worth it

Thanks will book her in after xmas!! Some people say to wait til she is 7 months old but really don't want to risk the placement of the adult teeth

Thanks everyone for your advice, i have sent breeder an email telling her i will not take any responsibilty especially for the puppy she bred. If i had accidental mating and didn't want to use that dog because of a fault i know i wouldn't be keeping one puppy.

Just wondering i have 6 1/2 month old who still has her baby canines and her adult canines are coming up behind the babies. I have tried bones, pig ears etc to loosen the baby teeth but the baby canines are very solid. How long should i give for them to loosen? or should they be removed straight away by my vet?

I sold a dog to a breeder at pet price $1000 (in my breed this is below pet price) and if pup turned out he could be bred but not shown due to an injury at 3 weeks of age. If he was bred i was to take pick puppy. At 12 weeks of age he left with all clear vet checked and had a correct scissor bite. At 9 months of age breeder contacted me to say pup mouth looked to be going out but sometimes corrects so see how it goes. I never heard from breeder until pup was 12 1/2 month old to say mouth was out and she could never breed with him. I asked for pics and got none. Now pup is 14 months old and sired a litter, it wasn't a planned mating but had to be DNA. No offer of pick puppy to me and they are keeping a puppy and running it on. They have now said if the puppy they run on mouth goes out by second teeth that they want to be reimbursed? I wasn't told about the litter by breeder, i was told by someone who saw the puppies shown at a show so puppies are 3 months. My questions are: Would you compensate for pet puppy if mouth went out at 12 1/2 moinths age? If so what sort of compensation as i told breeder i would no longer be asking for pick puppy so she paid $1000 for pet puppy. Should I be held responsbile for a unplanned mating and if the puppy they keep mouth goes out should you be reimbursing them? They have mentioned that DNA cost them $600+ so i am not sure if they expect me to reimburse them for the DNA. Any advice would be appreciated

I would love to hear breeders experiences, opinions on breeding older bitches for their first litter. In saying older bitches, do you feel 5 to 5 1/2 years old too old to breed a bitch for her first litter. This is for a toy breed. I know there are many risks on breeding an older bitch like needing caesarians etc but would love to hear breeders views on the topic

Thanks everyone. I know it isn't 100% accurate but it should give me an idea of numbers... Don't count on it I know of some told expect 6, they got 9. Others expect 4, they got 7. Ultrasound - confirms pregnancy but is not accurate enough for numbers. Xrays are best taken at 8 weeks to determine numbers - with that said, they to can also be wrong! I know what you mean Sway... I have ultrasounds in the past... Most have been around what my girl has had... About 3 years back i got an xray done.... Vet said between 7 -71/2 LOL she had 8... Back then i paid $85 for xray but now i use a different vet as moved towns and he said $180 so would like to know what are prices for ultrasounds and xrays you are paying? Is $180 steep for a pregnancy xray??

I am wanting to get a bitch ultrasound for a number count and to see if there are babies and was wondering what is best time. A frind told me day 25 is the best time for number count

I would grind/break them up and give about 1/4 a day Mine is a small dog weighs 3kg and gave her 1 whole tablet... There were a few brands at my chemist so asked the difference and there was one they sell behind the counter that does same job and much cheaper cost me $3.40 it's only small tablet so thought 1 tablet wont hurt her...

Start now better than nothing. Thanks have started her today!! My vet said cleft palate could have been environmental thing but you just don't know.. So would rather try folic acid this time.
-
Thanks my vet told me to start her as soon as she is mated... he got that wrong!!!! She is in season now, might not get the result especially taht she hasn't been on them a month before season
-
I was wondering do many breeders give their mated bitches folic acid up until they have their puppies. I was told by my vet to try folic acid with a particular bitch as she had a puppy with cleft palate and he said the folic acid could help next time... So would like to know breeders experience with folic acid and what the doseage would be.

So the 'hypothetical' was not exactly hypothetical - does it seem that there are often people coming onto Dogzonline and asking these hypothetical questions - and often they seem to be members who have only joined recently.... mmmmmm perhaps I just have a suspicious mind but I really do think if there are people out there who have genuine questions or are after information for studies or whatever then perhaps it would be besty for all concerned to just say so. Does it matter if it was hypothetical question or not??? It is about asking for experienced breeders opinions what they would do in this sort situation...

Thanks yes i do have an address for puppy buyer so will give that a go... The vet had done a letter to say it's visits to him but he said he can't send it to me due to privacy law. So as you can imagine i am getting very suss....

Thanks everyone for your comments.. The puppy came to my home from breeders home then i got second vaccination and vet check etc then left a couple weeks after to his new home. He was 3 1/2 months old when i sold him. As for what he died from i can't say as all i got was an email from puppy buyer saying puppy had died and puppy buyer wants a refund. Prior to this email i spoke to puppy buyer which puppy buyer informed he had urine infection and constipation which then her vet informed me it was a sore back. I ahve tried ringing and emailing puppy buyer but no reply.

Would like to know other breeders opinions please - Hypothetically speaking of course If someone used your stud dog for a litter and you chose to take a puppy instead of the stud fee and then the other puppy the breeder didn't want so you paid for it as you liked that puppy also. Then both puppies didn't turn out, were too small etc.. and breeder told you to pet them out.. One home was perfect the other you thought was perfect until 1 week after puppy buyer got puppy she whinged it was eating it's poo. You offered to take pup back but puppy owner said no. Then 3 weeks after that puppy buyer contacts you to say that puppy has urine infection and is constipated so you ring their vet, vet tells you that puppy doesn't have a urine infection or is constipated, he actually seems to have a sore back and has put him on pain relief etc.. The vet said he would ring you in a week to let you know how puppy is and you don't hear from vet or owner and the next thing you hear is that puppy has died and puppy owner wants her money back. The puppy owner had puppy for 6 1/2 weeks, he was healthy puppy before leaving. You speak to puppy owner vet and he can't give a daignosis as he hadn't seen puppy for 12 days. Vet also said puppy didn't have a autopsy so as you didn't breed the puppy do you refund the money? as well as without determining what is wrong with puppy do you refund??? Your opinios would be greatly appreciated.. This is all Hypothetically speaking of course!
