  1. Thought I should finally pop in here, I've been doing agility now for 12 months with my now 2 year old cocker spaniel, Monte :) We absolutely love it, and whilst we haven't started competing yet, I'm more keen on making sure he really enjoys himself.. A couple of times I've wondered if he's going to fall off the dog walk his tail is wagging so hard and fast :) We've done two demos for our club and he has certainly done me very proud, and there is nothing funnier than hearing people commenting on how funny it is watching Monte's ears flap as he goes over jumps  There's one thing that we're stuggling with a big at the moment and that's the cloth tunnel. He will run into it and then turn around and come back out.. We've tried holding the end open during training and that works, but once we put it down, its a no go! Does any one have any hints on how to get him to keep running straight through? As I run alongside it, I keep calling his name so he knows where I am, but that just makes him come back out through the front. Thanks in advance!
  2. I managed to get the link MrsD posted to open.. There is some fabulous things in there, will be putting in an order :)
  3. Oh my goodness, Dora!! And Frank too! (I have a major soft spot for bullmastiffs having grown up with them).. Zeus looks like he is very patient. Thank you for sharing your photos :)
  4. I wouldn't be able to make your event, but would love to get something (will happily pay for postage). I can't see any photos on the link you put up to facebook
  5. I love seeing your updates on Charlie. He truly sounds like a character and a wonderful dog :D Any chance of some photos of the beautiful boy? I had a bit of a giggle about the mediatation pose, I can picture that!
  6. Mumof4 -did u use the qv wash? Would love to know what u think?
  7. I use baby wipes to wipe down mine to get the dirt and smell off them until they can have a proper bath..
  8. Sounds like everyone is having a good time! Do you have any photos of the other cockers running and Barkley? :)
  9. Love it!!! I talk to my two all the time, definately not the only one doing it then.. They have come such a long way and just look fabulous and happy.. I love the sleeping poses :D
  10. I think you should contact the breeder to ask their advice and see what they say.
  11. I only have experience with one - bullmastiffs. My family have had them for over 25 years, and they are just so laid back and a great family dog.. My parents first male would go everywhere with my dad, which included going onto the army base and joining in on their exercise runs, but was also quite happy with just a lap around the block if he couldn't go out. They are fantastic with kids, which is why my parents got one to begin with. They can get excited, but considering I own two cocker spaniels, their excitement level is quite low. Their current one is happy with just a walk around the block in the morning and then spends his time with my dad in his shed, or just sleeping on his bed. My dad says Hunter would easily sleep for about 20 hours a day. They can be a little aloof with strangers, and socialisation and obedience (as with any dog) is very important. They don't need a great deal of exercise from personal experience, and love being part of the family. Hunter has his "wenches" (my mum, sister in law and me), and my dad and brother are the ones he can play with and be rough with. A half an hour walk would probably be enough every day, but there's no reason why they couldn't go for more when they are older. You could also do some training at home for mental stimulation, they are quite smart and pick up on things very quickly.
  12. The boys are looking fabulous! Poor Phoenix with his bucket head.. Very cute.
  13. Oscar is looking fabulous! Would love to see more photos of the handsome boy. Delilah is just adorable Ams!!!! Pink appears to be her colour.. The last photo is my favourite though.
  14. Would like to help out, can the funds go into the pacers account? Or would she like something in particular that I can organize?
  15. That's terrible Massive hugs to you and your family for everything you did for Cookie.. For those who shot her, words can not describe how angry that makes me
  16. I think perhaps you need a second opinion? If the vet 'thinks' that she has a fractured spine, then it sounds like they aren't really sure. Hugs to you for everything you've done for Cookie.
  17. When we just had Monte (also a cocker), I used to leave things for him to do and find, so he had a Kong or a treat ball to play with, treats scattered around the yard and toys to hunt for. I always made sure I left with minimal fuss. I found that leaving him with the Kong, he was so enthralled with getting stuck into it, he never realised I was gone. I also rotated toys so he never had the same ones. Just a couple should be enough. Sometimes, wearing them out before you go out helps, but obviously you can't do this everytime, but even just so quick training or throwing a toy, can tire them quickly. Mine also have access to the garage during the day, which forms part of their outside area with their beds, water bowl etc. Can he have access to your laundry, if that's where he sleeps, that may offer him an alternative to sitting outside. PS - would love to see photos of Tuppy :)
  18. Nawww.. Its a spot the dog in some of those photos amongst the toys. They look so content :D
  19. Woohoo! Congratulations on your new family member :D
  20. Such beautiful photos and what an amazing experience you must have had!.. If I had to pick a favourite, it would the elephant family one.
  21. I love Sid's first one, its almost like he's trying to pucker up.. Lola's photo with her eyes closed looks like she's saying "if I close my eyes, you can't see me".. They are such beautiful photos, and of course the models are gorgeous too. I love seeing your photos :)
  22. Good on you for giving Lochi a new home :D I hope he enjoys his new place with you. (and yes photos would be nice)
