Does anyone here do Obedience with a dog that is not food orientated? The reason I ask is because my puppy could not care less about food and the club I'm currently at is all about training through food and we are getting left out and ignored because she is the problem dog . She is not being overfed (as we have been accused of a few times by various trainers when she doesn't want the food ) and we have tried every sort of treat out there to get her attention but its just not motivating enough for her. Does anybody else use different type of rewards in training? what methods have you found most effective

Sorted Thanks

Hi All, Just wondering if anybody has a copy of this dvd that they are willing to sell second hand or let me borrow for a little bit, my budgets just going to be a bit tight for the next few months due to some family issues and I'm not going to have the spare change lying around to buy it brand new. I've already searched quite a few sites like eBay but no-one wants to part with it. Of course I'll pay all postage costs. If anyone could help out that would be much appreciated

My puppy is now able to go out in public. I'd love to meet up with some other Dolers :D Anyone else?

I'll have to put some photos up soon, Rumour attended her first flyball comp on the weekend (supporting her big brother). She loved meeting all the people and dogs. She also did so well in her crate and sooked a lot less than her brother Which is a major plus. She had a jacket made up just for the event that said 'future flyball dog' so I'll put up some pics of her modelling it! She also watched quite a few races so hopefully she's taking it all in, so when she's old enough she'll know what to do

I'm another one who has put my puppy straight onto the adult formula from when we got her. She loves it and is doing so well on it.

Well does it help if I tell you that Miss Rumour has decided that anything within her reach is fair game. She steals something, runs away and waits patiently for you to find her. Just as you are leaning down to pick up the item (generally a shoe), she will either a) wait till your right near her face and let out an ear splitting bark b) wait till you almost have the item and then grab it run out of the room to find a new hiding spot. Occasionaly there is an option c. c) she gets distracted by her pesky tail and you and your item a free to go. The best time to play this game is in the last 10 minutes before I need to leave for work She also decided the other night just after 9pm to give her self a mud bath. Not only did she roll in the puddle she somehow actually managed to go swimming and splash around in it. So I figured it would be time to give her first bath (which I secretly hoped would dissuade future mud baths). As it turns out I have a pup who loves baths and thinks they are the worlds best invention. I have now found her on a number of occasions playing in an empty bath tub, talking to herself...

Introducing Rumour, our little Border Collie girl. She now 13 weeks and growing fast. She is also close to responding to nutcase, little miss trouble, miss mischief, cheeky, mischief maker, among other names. She is been learning lots, been going really well with toilet training and is in love with her crate. Diesel, our older boy is absolutely in love with her, always keeps an eye on her. Although he loves to dob her in when she's doing something she shouldn't which seems to be quite often. We were recently told she sounds like she swallowed a staffy, the noises she makes are very interesting to say the least . The mandatory photos:

I'm looking at purchasing one of these for my two Border Collies. To the peolpe that have them do the dogs use them alot or have people found they get ignored? My two are very into tugging so I hope this will keep them occupied when I'm out. Also would a medium be suitable or would i be better off with a large? Thanks

I can finally join this thread!! Rumour's home and she's just everything I wanted! When we got to the airport she was sitting in her crate so quietly, the whole car trip she just sat there taking in the world. She has got so well with Diesel and he can't get enough of her. When we first put her in her crate last night she found her voice for a little while but then she slept for 6 hours straight! We then had a small play and toilet break and she went back to sleep for another three hours. So far we have been practicing coming when her name is called and she's so good at it (she will do anything for a tummy rub). We've also done a small training session for sit and she's picking it up quickly. I have wasted so much of today just watching her. And most importantly she loves cuddles! my oy will only cuddle if he's forced to, he just prefers being in the same room as you but not touching. Rumour just loves her cuddles and can't get enough I'll put photos up shortly
