  1. We've just had a warning issued at work about the number of snake bites occuring this year (we are required to go out in the field sometime so its become an OH&S issue). Due to amount of rain snake bites have greatly increased- I think I heard something about paremedics attending 38 snake bites in the last month just in Sydney. Also regarding getting grass cut or slashed that could be counted as a fire hazard (and snake haven) try contacting your local volunteer fire brigade office- can work wonders.
  2. As much as our boy is both of ours he belongs to my OH at heart. Whilst he is more likely to listen to what I say (and hide from me when he's done something naughty) he is my OH's. At times I've almost got upset because when we got him he was meant to be 'my' dog but as long as he stills chooses to come to me at least 2 times out of ten for the occasional cuddle I'm happy. Hopefully our next one will be my special girl and not the OHs as well lol
  3. " Toddler's cheek ripped off by family labrador Georgina Robinson January 4, 2011 - 9:37AM A young girl had part of her cheek bitten off by the family labrador in northern NSW last night. Police said the four-year-old was playing with the labrador while it was eating its dinner at their home in Martin Road, Nimbin, about 7.15pm. The dog is believed to have turned on the girl, biting her face and taking off a large section of her cheek. Advertisement: Story continues below She was taken to Lismore Base Hospital but was later transferred to Royal Brisbane Hospital for surgery. She was in a serious condition in hospital, police said. The fate of the dog has not been decided." http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/toddlers-cheek-r...0104-19e5m.html She was playing with it whilst it ate its dinner? When will they learn
  4. But of course because border collies only come in black and white so any other colour must be a cross or an Aussie (i was actually suprised this person even knew Aussies existed)
  5. I have the exact same problem with my boy I have had a lady actually yelling at me telling me my boy was definately crossed with Golden Retriever, I ended up just walking away from her . I also get told he must be an Australian Shepard. I have also had another oodle owner yell at me in an off leash dog area as my boy apparently didn't have a collar on and I was never going to catch him. I don't think she'd ever heard of recall (and yes my boy did have a collar on it was just a bit hard to see under all his fur)
  6. I would take him out on walks just as per usual I'm not the one who hates the rain that would be the dog, if we make him go outside in the rain he sooks like anything
  7. I just thought I'd see what everyone does with their dogs when its raining (seeing as its here to stay) We use the time to do a lot of training inside, go out for walks when its not too heavy and play Diesel's favourite game hide and seek loI mean I'd love to be able to still do all the normal activities but I dont think my OH or the state of my house could cope. What I wouldn't give for a giant indoor dog area, with agility equipment....
  8. How come we should wait until he is matured? I know a few people when they got their pups at 8 weeks they were already desexed, and they seem fine. Correct me if I am wrong, but I read if you don't desex them early enough they will still hump and spray even after being desexed? Is there anyone who had their pup desexed younger then mature age? My boy wasn't desexed till about 8 months and he has never humped or cocked his leg. Our friends dog who was desexed at around the same age marks everything he possibly can outside and occasionally tries to hump. Its just an individual thing.
  9. Just putting this up for a work friend. Pls PM if any one knows anything.... As a result of the big storm on Monday night 8th November my beloved Panda went missing from our home in Richmond Lowlands. He is a fully grown, one year old, desexed, black and white, male border collie. He is wearing a purple collar with diamond studs and a tag with his name and my mobile number. He is micro-chipped and goes to Richmond Vets for all his shots etc. He is a long-haired border collie however I recently gave him a trim so his hair looks clipped and is now medium-long length. His distinguishing marks are his front right leg is all white with black spots but all other legs are black with white toes, this is clearly shown in his photos. It has been almost two weeks now and besides doing all we can to find him; two big signs on Bells Line of Rd, flyers in shops, an ad in the Hawkesbury gazette, many drives around the Hawkesbury searching for him on the streets, contacting all the vets and shelters in the surrounding areas, and still nothing has brought him back. I really miss him, he is a huge part of my life and I desperately want him home. If anyone finds him or sees him or has any information please contact either myself or Richmond Vets. Any information is greatly appreciated. Many thanks.
  10. I too am waiting for a puppy. Although i'll be waiting a while longer the mating probably won't be till early next year!! But I am so happy with the breeder it's worth the wait. Oh and its going to be a border collie pup
