  1. On the occasion my boy lets one rip he then races out of the room, just like a typical boy he probably thinks he is hilarious. If he does one in the car he always makes sure his nose is out the window first....
  2. When I was quite visibly upset after losing someone close to me, my boy laid down next to me and always had some put of his body touching me. It was nice to have that comfort of knowing he was right next to me
  3. At least you found it before a dog or child. Good work for reporting it, hopefully that will prevent anything nasty from happening
  4. just a question to everyone. Did you have a name picked out for your puppy before you even knew if you were getting one/which one you were getting or did you wait till you met the pup and picked it from there?
  5. That is so cute. I've never meet a smooth Collie before. hopefully I will one day
  6. Naomi can't wait to see photos of your boy as he grows up, I love Aussies, they're always so cute
  7. Naomi, those tags look awesome. Now to decide on a name before I start buying them....
  8. WA- I did all that too, slightly embarrasing but I'm getting so excited that its getting close to the due date. Just have to keep my fingers crossed
  9. Fingers crossed that next week there will be a little girl born for me. Unlike everyone else I've been counting down how long till my puppy is (hopefully) born. After I know that then I can start my eight week countdown!!! I'm so excited already, the plans I have for this girl
  10. My boy bails them up in a corner and then barks until you come and remove it. There's no way he would touch anything dirty, thats my job.......
  11. This thread reminds me of something I saw a few months ago near my work. There was a lady walking two border collies and pushing a pram but on the end of a third leash (?) she had a shetland pony A very odd combination
  12. I got my sample of Black Hawk and the boys went absolutely nuts for it. Considering one is a extremely fussy eater. They both love working for pieces of it during training. Will definately be ordering a bag once I finish my current RC one
  13. My Red and White Border Collie gets called an Aussie as well, Because Borders only come in B&W you know....
  14. What is the silliest thing you have heard your dog been called? My Border Collie boy gets everything from Aussie, GSD x, Husky X but the other day, I kid you not I had someone comment what a nice looking pomeranian I had!!!! I am very stumped at how my Border got confsed with a Pom? Also was with a friend and there Greyhound x, when one lady said to her son look at that Bull Mastiff.... Further more I was in a bookshop the other day with the OH, I began to flick through a puppy book of some sort which had a photo of a beautiful Aussie Shep labelled as a Kelpie? Some people....
  15. I was just wondering which dog beaches in NSW do not have rough surf. I've been to a couple with my boy but they've all had quite rough surf breaking right on the shore and he can't get past it. I'm looking for a dog friendly beach somewhere between the Central Coast and Wollongong, not really fussed about the driving as we generally make a day of it. What ones do dolers recommend?
  16. Is that the vet clinic near the high school with the big brick wall around it? Bennies?
  17. Thankyou for your reccomendations i'll have to look into them. I understand that it will take a while to build up a relationship I just want a vet that is willing to talk and at least pretend to take an intrest. I understand that they are a business and can't spend a long time talking but if I pay for a consult I expect to be able to get one
  18. Hi all, I currently live in the north-west of sydney (just recently moved) and I'm after any vet recommendations in the area or close by as I don't mind a little bit of travel. I do not often go to the vet, only when my boy needs it but I want a vet that will ask questions about my dog and answer any of my questions. Just last week I took my boy for his 1st annual vaccination to a vet that was recommened by a work friend. It was an absolutely horrible expereince the two vet nurses/ receptionists ignored us for a good couple of minutes whilst they carried on their converstaion (which was not to do with any of the patients), the vet then only reffered to my dog as "this one" or "it", did not ask any questions about his diet or general wellbeing, then another vet nurse walked in plonked herself in the chair in the corner of the room and started to talk to him about another patient, no apology for the interuption and we we're then ignored as if we were not there. The vet then walked out and called the next person without seeing if there was anything else we needed to discuss. So I am now after a vet that will talk to me and at least refer to my dog by his name or at least calling him "him" not it! Any suggestions?
  19. Why not a border collie from a registered breeder. You can never just stop at having one border
  20. All i can do is hope they catch the person that did this, I have absolutely no tolerance for the arsonists that create this havoc and destruction. And after all the effort that is put in by the community to stop these fires from happening. I hope that there isn't to much damage over there
  21. With all the focus on the floods up in QLD and northern NSW at the moment. Just thought I'd see if there are any people over in Western Australia have been affected by the bush fires? apparently a few homes have been lost already
  22. Sorry, my bad. It's http://www.smh.com.au/environment/animals/...0110-19l86.html
  23. "Welcome home, Sarbi, trusty dog of war Steve Meacham January 11, 2011 Major General John Cantwell with Sarbi before her flight to Australia. Photo: Nick Moir SHE has her own Facebook page, a dedicated entry on Wikipedia, and is known - like so many celebrities - just by her first name. Surely, it can't be long before Hollywood beckons? The ''meet and greet'' photo call in Canberra yesterday was the first time Sarbi - Australia's very own ''hero dog'' - had been seen in public with her handler, Sergeant D (his identity cannot be revealed) since they were separated in a bloody ambush in Afghanistan in November 2008. In the same battle SAS Trooper Mark Donaldson won the first Victoria Cross to be awarded to an Australian since 1969. Advertisement: Story continues below For the next 14 months there was no sign of the missing ''Explosives Detection Dog''. According to one report, there was a contingency plan to rescue her if she turned up in Taliban hands. Finally the eight-year-old black labrador was spotted by a US soldier walking alongside a local man. Soon she was being flown to her Australian base in Tarin Kowt. Since then she has been the subject of political controversy and ludicrous conspiracy theories. Did the then prime minister Kevin Rudd delay news of Sarbi's happy reunion so he could announce it on Remembrance Day during a surprise trip to Afghanistan? Had the Defence Department reneged on a promise to return the dog to the Victorian family who said they had only lent her for five years? Had she been ''turned'' by the Taliban during those missing 14 months? Should a runaway be made a hero for essentially going absent without leave? Such questions were put aside as Sarbi returned to training. The official line by Defence is that a rocket exploded near Sergeant D, and the buckle attaching Sarbi to his body armour came away. ''Sergeant D was injured and unable to retrieve her. Sarbi probably got a bit disoriented with all the noise.'' So what does the future hold? ''When Sergeant D returns to work, he'll make an assessment. She'll either return as a working dog in Australia or will be retired to live with Sergeant D for the rest of her days,'' the Defence spokesman said. There is talk of Sarbi being awarded a medal and her portrait has been commissioned for the Australian War Memorial."
