  1. Be vigilant - watch her like a hawk, so you can do a sharp NO! immediately BEFORE she actually does it. Or try a deliberate set up - put something loud and clangy on the table so that when she pulls it off, it scares her from doing it again. (Hopefully). Dunno, my boys are :D
  2. Stuff everything else, You need a camera!! He's a little stunner! I think he's a Shogun. He needs a strong bold name
  3. Damn, life can be just too bloody cruel sometimes. How heartbreaking
  4. Oh bugger. She doesn't look like she can afford to lose any more weight. Thank goodness for Dr Pirate Pete/Jet to brighten her days. :D
  5. Oh Miranda, you know we like nothing better than to patronise those places :D ;) ;) :D :p In the best possible ways, of course
  6. I suspect you'll get much better advice from here rather than a pet store Are the pups coming from this place?
  7. Johnson's baby shampoo is no dramas at all, but Aloveen smells nicer for sure. It's more expensive than the stuff I buy for myself
  8. G'day, Adrian, welcome to the forum 2 at once, eh? You are definitely in for a handful! May I ask why you're getting two at once, and from where? I'm presuming they're litter mates? You're probably better off having them settled where you want them to be at night straight off rather than confuse them. Commands are good, this needs to be done from day one, which you intend doing, and do them separate to each other, because they will certainly distract each other very easily. I have two beagle boys myself, but I got them at 6 months apart as advised by their breeder. There are plenty of other beagle people here with loads of advice - at the mere sniff of a newbie with beagles they get found out pretty quickly :D You might find it easier if you crate train your two - do a search as there are loads of threads on it. I don't personally, but I suspect with two pups at once you'll find many people would advocate this in your situation. You'll also want to be very particular with toilet training or you'll have double trouble - outside to the designated spot immediately upon waking, immediately after meals, immediately after playtime, and any other time you think of it :D Good luck - and we'll be demanding pics!
  9. :D Thinking of you, Feef What gorgeous photos, they look like big happy smoochers.
  10. Crunch the shell up so it's finer - my boys don't particularly like it when it's just in two halves, but if it's mixed in they can't avoid it. Just don't feed the white on its own - there's plenty of threads about eggs if you do a quick search.
  11. Scorpion? Spider? What an awful thing to have happened to her, and to your family. I hope you can get an answer - it won't turn back the clock unfortunately, but it may give closure.
  12. Sounds pretty normal to me! Just one thing though - if he hasn't eaten what you've given him within 10-15 minutes - take it away. He won't starve - he's a beagle! My guys normal routine is to wake up when we do in the morning, have breakfast, then have an after breakfast snooze, have a mid morning snooze, have an after lunch snooze, have some zoomies if we feel like it and/or a walk on the beach, have a pre dinner snooze, have dinner, have a major zoomies session after dinner, have a pre bedtime snooze, have some pre bedtime zoomies, then sleep all night :D It's a dogs life alright - I want to be a beagle in my next life
  13. Yep, supermarkets have got it - but make sure it's the brown unfiltered stuff with dregs in the bottom, not the white vinegar you put on your fish and chips Health stores also stock it.
  14. Get some pure unfiltered apple cider vinegar (the brown stuff) and add just a splash into his drinking water. Not just once or twice - but do this on a permanent basis. ACV is great for lots of things - including making the blood taste yuck to fleas. Do a search and you'll find out why you'll never be without it again Where are the pics?
  15. VERY cute pupster you have there! NEED MORE!
  16. No advice until pics ;) Okies, LOTS of attention when he's awake (what's his name?), get stuck into the toilet training from day one - upon waking, after food, after play. If he's nipping, a sharp OW to be like what his littermates would have done. LOTS of praise for doing the right thing. And do 5 - 10 minutes of training as this will wear him out mentally too. Sit is probably the first and easiest to do with meals. Good luck -and where are the photos?!

    What Breed?

Whoops! What a difference a letter makes! You can also check out the dog breeds section on this website - they have a list of breeders that can be contacted under each breed. Psssst...go the beagle

    What Breed?

Depends on the temperament of the dog. I can say without a word of a lie, that of my two beagles ONE has dug in the garden ONCE. They will do a bit of a dig on the beach, but that's it. If your dog is not bored, regardless of the breed, it probably won't dig. Even if mine did dig, I wouldn't really care a bit, I'd change the garden to suit if possible, but no way would I sacrifice not having the love of a beagle. So don't rule beagles out :D but also know that they CANNOT be trusted off lead and have no road sense. Oh, and in some regards they can be easy to train BECAUSE they like to scent. They can be stubborn at times though, but who wants a robot? Welcome to DOL. Why would you be calling A Current Affair when you're ready to get a dog? ETA: some more.
  19. Yoghurt = good Just plain, not sweetened, although they'll love it! Yakult is really good too, especially after any anti-biotics.
  20. :D If it makes you feel any better, Keg every so often pees into Indy's bowl. Not a toilet training thing obviously, but we've never see him do it, and it happens very rarely. Hard to train something out when you can only count the number of times it's happened on the one hand! Dominant little bugger
  21. Sorry Warls, just gotta laugh that it happens to the best of 'em! Where's the Muttley sniggering emoticon? This'll have to do Great help, aren't I?
  22. Great stuff, Frank, good on you for doing the right thing by yourselves and the pup, it's a decision you won't regret Off to look for Bailey now - great name!
  23. Sardines and tuna. They wolf it down. The Brunswick sardines come in packs of 3, they're pretty cheap. Tuna - just home brand stff - same as we use for ourselves. Left over bait, eg pilchards, whole prawns or squid. Not so keen on the big prawns as they can be a bit spiky. These ones will just be about half of a meal, seeing it's not a regular occurrance, but the other stuff is a whole meal about once or twice a week.
  24. Hiya Frank, please don't rush into this decision - a new family member for the rest of its life can easily be 15 years +, so you really want to take your time to make sure its the one for you. Don't just go on looks alone - it's what's inside that counts as far as health is concerned. If you're having trouble convincing your wife, get her to read some of the replies to your threads and ask lots of questions to become better informed! There are MANY good reasons why folks here say what they're saying - it's from personal experience and knowledge of their breeds. You WILL find the right pup for the right reasons, providing you do it right! Good luck!
  25. Ishka, you'll be taken care of by the old timers at the bridge, and meet up with a few other newies there too. Run free. :rainbow:
