Would love to, but family calls. Enjoy!

Oh bugger, Papps, you put glitter in my eye. What a lovely tribute. Have sweet dreams at his memory, and smile. And think of what will come next, soon.

When Keg had his one and only bout of itchy skin that we suspect was a result of his 12 week injection that lowered his immune system, the vet we saw that day suggested we put him on the ZD formula as it's supposed to be for sensitive skin. We compared its ingredients to the normal Hill's formula. There was ONE single different of some chemical sounding additive, along with many other chemical sounding additives. How could the introduction of so many artificial additives make you any MORE likely to identify what was the cause of his itchyness than doing what is usually done to identify a food allergen - MINIMIZE the foods and rule them out? There was nothing that could convince us to put him on that stuff over raw.

We've got two King Wubbas - 5 minutes of interest out of them Strong material toys that can't be ripped aren't all the interesting either, the buggers! I think we'll get our toys from St Vinnies from now on and save some money.

Skin Condition On A Hairy Dog

Nope - Top Pets on Bagot Rd DON'T sell pups or kittens - they DO sell fishies and birdies though. They're the only pet store I go to, just to check out the toys and collars/leads etc, and I go in there at least once a month. They only sell Science Diet and Euk though. But I'm pretty sure they will do orders for other food if requested. I've mentioned to them multiple times the reason I go there is precisely because they don't sell pups and kittens, and they have said they have no plans to. Wendy, I reckon you should give the aloe vera gel and/or the apple cider vinegar a go. You've got nothing to lose, and they won't have side effects like the drugs have. Hopefully it won't take too long to take effect. Good luck. -

Wendy, also try giving him a dash of aloe vera juice (the 100% stuff - you can get it in health food stores, and even woolies) mixed in with his food. Add cloudy apple cider vinegar too - again, just a splash, doesn't have to be an exact amount to the ml. I'd be whacking him on handmade BARF stuff as well, but if you really need to continue on kibble, there's a place called Horse and Hound (I think) near Palmerston or Coolalinga, can't remember which. They are the only place I think that has Royal Canin, apart from Pets Village (but they sell pups and kittens so I won't go there on principle). Top Pets are good, but they only sell Euk and Science Diet, neither of which are that great. You can also put aloe vera gel a few times a day on the sore spots - he may lick it off, but that's no real drama. As for shampoo, maybe try a medicated one like Aloveen or Maleseb? Apple cider vinegar as a rinse after shampooing (regardless of the shampoo you use) will also ensure all the soap suds are out of his coat. Good luck, he's a lovely boy. -
Nice looking dogs. But a temperament like that is a ticking time bomb. Just what we all want - dog AND human aggressive I do not agree with BSL, but in this case, I think it's justified.

Rubber mitt. Don't you know beagles only shed twice a year? The first half of the year and the second half! A towel works pretty well, as does the couch, and the bed, and the carpet, and the rug, and my clothes

What a horrible decision to have to do, but clearly you're not wearing rose-coloured glasses. Knowng you've done the right thing doesn't make it easier. Very sad to hear this news, Horrie. may Cleo rest in peace, and Ellie fully recover.

You've got my number, Springythingy. Feel free to call it when you need a northern flavour of cheering up :D Maxie, that smile of yours lit up hundreds, if not thousands, of computer screens. You will be dearly missed, but never forgotten. Thinking of you, Springythingy and Mr Springythingy.

Oh Grotty, so sorry to hear this awful news. Knowing you've done the right thing by him still doesn't really make you feel any better, but take comfort in the fact that you both were strong enough to do it. Look after yourself

I wouldn't be trusting luck Crating's a good idea. Not that we did it! But we were just prepared for clean ups and night time wee walks.

If you're up for both dogs being on your bed - there's no "might" about it Little puppies WILL pee on the bed. The key is to be vigilant, and consistent. Outside for wees after every meal, every nap, every play time, and every time you think of it after these three are catered for Get one of those plastic backed picnic rugs and put it over your bed. And get extra washing detergent Even if you're there and vigilant, sometimes you'll get a defiant little brat that will pee on your pillow while looking at you, knowing they're doing the wrong thing. Harsh words are required. Pup will get what's acceptable, eventually Good luck

;) Shame on you Raz for laughing at the antics of a beagle Don't listen to her, dedrei. ;) Other than the fact that she's right - all things must pass Seriously, if you're concerned, a visit to the vet would be in order, but there's probably not a lot they can do right now. Just keep an eye on that back end

Oh bewdy, I know a few gits - can I give it to them, and will they stop being gits?

Supervise them together at all times, but Brutus needs to be able to tell Piglet the rules as well. Make sure Brutus has a place to go to that Piglet can't go to, to allow her some alone time if she wants it. There'll be others along to offer more advice. What are you doing to ensure that Piglet DOESN'T rule the roost? Piglet needs to know where his place in the family hierarchy is. ETA: Oops, welcome to DOL. Pics please ;) ETAA: Brutus is a she?

Pretty sure it is, MM, to be honest I don't know what else cider is made of other than apples. Just make sure it's the brown stuff and has floaties!

Kristie - yes is does, but not immediately, it will take several weeks. It also needs to be in ALL the water they have access to to drink. Alternatively, you can add a tiny splash to each meal, which is what we do, as the boys have a big clam shell they can jump in and drink from if they want, and the water gets mankier much quicker with a big slurp of ACV in it. Especially in the wet season.

Awww Dru, really sorry to hear that. I did enjoy stories of your tribe, and photos of your gorgeous Grace. Nice to see you here despite the circumstances. Take care.

One of the walks we do is about 5km as a there and back. On the way back, not even a quarter of the way back, Indy will ALWAYS want to stop at the same place and flop down frog dog style, and check out the world. Then he'll want to do a good roll in the grass. Once he's done that, he's happy, and we'll continue the only thing we can put it down to is it's the best patch of soft green grass on that walk That's as much coddling as he gets - we have to stop until he's ready or he won't get up ;)

Lots of threads on it - do a search Use a splash or two in their water - if they don't have a choice they will drink it. Just build up slowly. In the final rinse when shampooing - gets the suds out. Soak a bone in it for a while - it will go rubbery. It's mildly antiseptic, so you can bathe any open cuts with it. Clears out gunky ears. Lots of other uses.

Sounds to me like EVERY SINGLE ONE of the dogs from Griffith should have gone through a setup such as Freckles has described. The big question is - WHY NOT? *Disclaimer: these are my thoughts and mine alone.
