  1. Absolutely, positively, FANTASTIC advice!! First of all, WELCOME braathens! I had a similar problem with my girl GSD - I found out I was feeding her too much, and also feeding too much or the WRONG food... if you are interested you can read the thread under 'general discussion' called 'jennas poos' - it should be on the second or third page of general discussion... some of the advice in there has to do with jenna pooing inside - because both her and my other GSD max sleep inside of a night they, also, has to wait until 6.30am before they get put out to go to the toilet - my dad has gone away though and normally he would be putting them out after 11.30pm too, but since hes gone away I am sleeping downstairs with the dogs because then they can tell me when they need to go out - jenna will make a small noise and I will open my eyes to her just staring at me, and max will lick my on the face - those are signs that they need to go to the toilet. So if you can tell us what kind of food you are feeding your dog then we can maybe give some advice on how to fix her. I was feeding jenna Supercoat (and i was feeding her WAY TOO MUCH), so now I am mixing supercoat with Royal Canin (specifically for GSD) and her poos are much firmer and she hasn't pooed inside since. I would sggest reading the 'jennas poos' thread because you might get some useful info from there as well as this thread! and again, welcome!
  2. hahahaha Hi Joanne - Im sorry no one has replied and unfortunately I cant give you any info either although I do live about 5mins away from Dural. Im sorry I couldnt be more help but I didnt want you to have no replies! Wait for today - people will reply.. and if they dont then it means no one has used them. how long have they been operating do you know?
  3. Oh - I wish I had heard things like that about Sydney!! I might make an appearance there and if it is crap then at least I will know not to go there again. Glad to hear you had a good time though! Brissy one sounds great!!
  4. No Jenna isnt DA - not anymore anyway. we have been training her and she is getting better and better - but thank you for your advice - still deciding whether or not I will go. thank you!
  5. that is where I normally go either there or Cherrybrook. Only problem with doonside rd is that there is only one tree :| apparently there is a park in penrith (Jamison park) and it has finally been fenced?? I don't know - open for ideas
  6. Oh my God! I'm definitely going to try that! Our 16yo dog has to have a tablet each morning for his arthritis and he will literally sniff it out of anything we put it in and not eat it, we can't shove it down his throat because he wont let us get near his mouth (I'm am quite good at getting tablets down the throat but with him it is IMPOSSIBLE) he squirms and pulls away and bites... so if he wont take the tablet then unfortunately he doesnt get the tablet that day!!!! I spent about half an hour with him yesterday trying to get him to take it!!! I will definitely try the peanut butter! hopefully it works!!!
  7. At the risk of flogging a dead horse, there's "aggressive" and then there's "dangerous". For the most part, aggressive behaviour in dogs is designed to avoid injury. Particularly in social situations where the only resource at stake is personal space. That's not what I am thinking of Corvus? My point is that I do know particluar dogs for some reason set off a more aggressive retaliation from a growling episode than others, have you not experienced that before? Sure, but my point is it shouldn't matter what kind of growl it was, because chasing the dog down and delivering multiple uninhibited bites is still a far cry from a 'normal' aggressive response. I can't believe there is so much discussion. Why does it matter why the staffy attacked or what it perceived? How could multiple uninhibited bites to a fleeing dog be considered anything other than wildly inappropriate and downright dangerous? There really are no excuses. I've seen a dog do something silly and threaten a dog that always takes threats seriously and deals with them very aggressively. Still, no one got hurt. It's not usual IME for dogs to get hurt no matter what kind of growl it was. I should probably note (I didnt want to start a new thread for this) but jenna got attacked on the weekend at the dog park (not badly, she is absolutely fine)... but a woman came in with a lappie (beautiful dog) but as soon as the lappie came in it went for a dog that went up to sniff it... the woman asked if any of the dogs in the dog park would react badly to her having a go at them....... I said no max and jen would be fine, but I found it odd that she would ask that... why would you bring a dog into a dog park knowing full well that it would go for other dogs???? anyway, I tried to stay away from it... about 10mins later jen went up to the dog to sniff it and the dog turned around and went for jenna making a lot of noise and chasing her and trying to bite her... jenna RAN! she had her tail between her legs and was trying to get away while the dog chased her. Jenna ran straight to me and thankGod she wasn't very far away because the other dog stopped after about 10 metres of trying to get her.. the woman asked if jenna was ok and I said yes she's fine but I took her over to one of the seats to see if she was ok (which she was) and the woman left straight away... Don't really know my point in all this... I just think there is a distinct difference between a dog just saying 'back off' and a dog doing what the lappie did. Same thing with this husky and the staffy... jenna was simply sniffing the dog and the dog went crazy... the husky was simply saying back off and the staffy went crazy. I dunno... I've forgotten my point. lol
  8. Fantastic news!!!!!!! so happy to hear that everything has turned around! It was about time!!!!!
  9. That would be great Thanx leelaa , I believe she may be in the campbelltown area ?? do you remember their last name or something similar? because you try white pages'ing them if you remember any details of their name... do you mind, and please tell me if you do, why you are looking for mello? I am purely curious! but if it a personal matter then tell me to mind my own business!!!!
  10. what a douche. absolutely f**king douche bag. hope he gets whats coming to him. prick.
  11. sloppy poos!!! lol there is thread under 'general discussion' called 'jennas poos' and that was all about food and the fact that she could not be going well on what I was feeding her. Its an easy-to-read thread. Sometimes it can be gruelling to go on the health and nutrition and just go 'wow, thats a lot of information for me to digest and half of those words I don't understand'... lol - it is for me anyway!!! I don't think Jenna had an allergy but I think she didn't tolerate the food she was on very well.
  12. I say go for it. Bugger the people who 'poo-poo' it. They shouldn't even be reading if they aren't interested. Just tell the people who go on and argue with you etc not to come onto the thread if they have nothing USEFUL to say.
  13. I said free stuff?? not free beneful - although I am sure there will be free beneful there... is beneful not any good???
  14. Just wondering if anyone is going to this?? I really really want to go because it sounds like a good, educational and fun day out - PLUS, free stuff! wooo!! I really want to take both Max and Jen but I don't know whether it's a good idea... not because of Jen (she is very very good) but because it'll just be me with two large dogs and max and jenna tend to get excited around lots of other dogs... Anyway, that is something to work out later. it's on saturday May 28, 10am-2pm, Victoria Park, Camperdown... what do you guys think???
  15. just watched the video. he is so incredibly beautiful!!!! I want him. Now. I hope he isn't in any pain and can live a long and happy life. Big hugs to the beautiful little guy! So strong willed!!!!
  16. Hey guys I am trying to organise the next meet for one of the next few weekends. when is everyone free? I am free both saturdays and sundays any time and I am willing to go anywhere. So just let me know.
  17. Cant watch the video, but what a brave little thing! Walking all that way. I hope he can kerp his legs. Good luck with lifes journey little one!
  18. Stupid little prick. So glad quattro is ok, poor thing. Hope the sob gets whats coming to him.
  19. I had a dog stolen from my yard by people who claimed she was theirs. The police didnt want to know about it. If it was a boat or car they wouldnt have done something. In their words, they had no facility to hold a dog until rightful ownership was established. I had papers and everything to prove she was mine but possession in this case was 9/10's of the law. I never saw my dog again. i was devastated to the point I moved house because everytime i entered the building I expected her to be there I still have her rego tags, bowls, toys etc.. Even the council didnt want to know about it, everyone kept passing the buck. As much as it is wrong and irresponsible, I would have taken the law into my hands in this example. I would have retrieved her using force. Ditto! I don't care if its wrong. When it comes to saving my dogs life or getting my dogs back that were STOLEN from me, I wouldn't even think twice about taking the law into my own hands - as long as it didnt put the dogs in danger of getting PTS or anything I would do anything for them. Absolutely anything.
  20. I would do everything in my power to find my boy or girl. Problem is - I would be absolutely distraught so I dont know how much help I would be!! They are my absolute world, and they are like children to me, even though I still try to treat them like dogs, I love them like they were my blood. They are my heart and soul. I would do whatever it took to get my dogs back. WHATEVER it took.
  21. more than welcome to take max with you! LOL he's the most STUBBORN dog I have met in my entire life. He's ridiculously intelligent, but if there's nothing in it for him... wellll.... plus, he doesn't listen to anyone he's not close to - so take him with you and when u try to tell him something he'd just be like 'yeah eff off' LOL - that'll show how much work a dog can be!!!!!!
  22. also if you want I could print some of those posters out and post them up around the dog parks I go to?
