  1. Good luck!!! I hope they are rehomed! Tell the family that we're all backing for them!!!
  2. LOL - i like that one!! I might get one of them too!
  3. Dear god, the poor bloody thing can't stand up and you'd want to keep it alive. I am against euthanizing any animal for any reason unless it is dying or in severe pain. This animal could live a perfectly happy life if it was in the right care IMO. Would you kill a person because they couldn't feel anything from the neck down? No - so why do it to an animal. Because as as a prey animal it knows its helpless. Anyone who's had horses knows that they don't deal at all well with serious injury. Unlike carnivores who know they need to move or die, prey animals know how vulnerable they are. As an animal it cant' reason that being totally paralysed is better than being dead. And because its totally at the mercy of someone who's clearly not dealing with a full deck. I understand that. IMO I think it was right to be saved but I think everyone on here thinks that this woman isn't the right person to have Irwin (let alone any other animal) in her care. We might not all agree that Irwin should be alive - but now that he is - lets hope he gets the PROPER care he needs to live a happy life.
  4. No depression isn't nice - but I am the first person to say that you CANNOT use an animal to get you out of it - you rely too much on that animal and what if something were to happen to it? It would send you over the edge. Yes, I am sure she does love the kangaroo but she isn\'t thinking about what is best for him. This is the problem. I agree that the kangaroo should've been saved and should have a good life with lots of care - but I don't think that is with her.
  5. Thank you - that's EXACTLY what I was trying to say!!

This animal could live a perfectly happy life if it was in the right care IMO. Would you kill a person because they couldn't feel anything from the neck down? No - so why do it to an animal. I see where you are coming from and I think the humane thing to do was to put it down but I just couldn't bring myself to agree with that if it was capable of living a happy life. If it WASNT capable of living a happy life according to PROFESSIONAL opinion then yes, I would say PTS. But if it can live a happy life then I would say let it live. This is my opinion so dont judge me on what I would prefer to see happen. I don't think that lady should be doing what she is doing - I would say someone who is willing to care for this animal full time and give it a relatively normal life should take care of it not her.
  7. It's fricken awesome!! I've also seen one that says something along the lines of 'Is there life after death? Jump the fence and find out' lololol and I know you can go onto ebay and get all different kinds of signs - from poodles to chihuhuas (is that how you spell lol) and maltese - every kind of dog!!
  8. I think it would be best to ask your vet - OR you could just ask them how much it would be to get a dna test done - see how much they will charge. $150 for the swab - you also need to think about suitable packaging costs to get it back to the processing centre etc. If you have the money - like Sandra777 said - it looks extremely simple so if you want to do it and you have the money then do it
  9. I was about to ask for a photo so we can see! Also - I would DEFINITELY go to the vet - never do that sort of stuff yourself. Pay that little bit extra and get it done properly and professionally. I don't see any harm in it - it is expensive though, so if you have the money to spend then go for it but if you have a tight budget and you are simply curious then I would leave it for another time.
  10. *properly hahahahaha That's called Kamah!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH omg!!!!!!!!! And yes it is KARMA! LOL we're all stupid today aren't we! LOL at least we lightened up the post! hahahahahaha
  11. hahahaha it isn't a big deal - it was just so funny that there was a thread put on here yesterday about how no one can spell properley anymore (including me a lot of the time!! And im a journalist so I HAVE to get it right! lolololol) and then she goes and says your by accident. its so funny.
  12. Can I ask, is Max's reaction to these dogs "normal" or should he be taught to tolerate them? I'm just worried that he is the one with the problem, not them, iykwim. I also suggest dont go to that park anymore....stick to Pugwood. Max is reacting like a typical Pug, and if you put him in that situation too often he could be asking for a fight. You have to remember that Max thinks he is as big as a Rotti and he will stand up for himself if pushed too far by a big dog. Somehow I doubt that. Max tried to remove himself from these dogs. He couldn't. If flight wasn't an option, he didn't have many others.. So now you claim to know more than I do about my breed. Are you serious with that comment. My Pugs certainly don't think they are big Rottweilers and they will not all stand up for themselves if pushed.... and if want to talk experience Shazza...... Obviously the OP knows their own Pug. Shazzapug ... I know what you are saying "multum in parvo" - big dog in little body. Max is not scared of big dogs ... he runs up to them all macho and sniff sniff. And once he's sniffed, he moved on .... but he was definitely intimidated by these bigger dogs and he definitely took the 'fight' option because he had tried flight and it didn't work for him. He's not our first pug (and more certainly won't be our last .. I could easily become the crazy pug lady if left to my own devices, hubby keeps that in check!) and I do get his personality and nature ..... he doesn't like to have dogs right in his face. So your also a breeder? Im sorry but I have to do this.... *you're. There is another thread on here about grammar skills. im sorry.
  13. I just received a really cool sign that I bought off ebay yesterday. It has a pic of a GSD on it and it says 'I can get to the fence in 2.8 seconds.......... CAN YOU?' I think it is HILARIOUS! I was just wondering if anyone else has seen/has any cool signs for their dogs??
  14. Hes 19. Not 10. He knew what he was doing. Bastard shouldve gone to jajl the f**kin prick.
  15. This is really sad. That poor roo. I dont think ANY animal - let alone a red kangaroo should be dressed up and fed popcorn and cheesey puffs!! I wouldnt have wanted him put down but i certainly wouldnt want him treated like that either.
  16. Rouse Hill is good for me, weekend after easter sounds good. I am free both days. Alrighty. How about saturday around lunch time?
  17. I know. And i have learnt a lot from this thread. And i would never EVER wish any dog harm. I am always trying to be a more responsible owner.
  18. Sometimes you don't have time. When a dog has rushed you, picked one dog up in its mouth and tossed it, and is coming back for the second, asking someone to remove it is the last thing on your mind. You're in full on combat mode. I can tell you from experience that many many owners freeze. As an instructor I've covered 10's of metres to grab dogs when their owners were shocked into paralysis. Thats awful. I hope I never get like that. And that is what I was saying - if in 'combat mode' like you say - I would never condemn someone from removing my dog.
  19. THNAK YOU!!!!!!!! I completely agree! I clearly have a problem of babbling and not getting my point thats in my head onto the computer correctly. If you gently pushed or guided my dog away I would FINE with that. I would think ok that person doesnt want my dog near their dog so I would take appropriate steps to ensure max or jenna stayed away (and I have been in this exact situation before). I took 'removing' to mean kicking the dog to get it away or pushing it violently etc. Maybe I overexaggerate. I try as HARD as I can to make sure everyone is comfortable around my dogs because I KNOW people have issues with them. I also ALWAYS take responsibility for my dogs actions - like when Jenna was going mental at a dog at the dog park and I apologised sincerely and left immediately. And THANK YOU again for saying that everyone has different values. Sometimes I feel that its such-and-such's values or the highway. I know it ISNT that way - but sometimes I feel that if I disagree with someone I will be staked for it. lol Thank you thank you thank you for saying what I really meant to say.
  20. Quite a few poodle and GSD owners have observed the breeds don't mix well. Very different body language, ear and tail set for a start. I have had three fairly serious aggression incidents towards my poodles over the years. 3/3 aggressors were GSDs. Each incident required me to physically intervene to get the aggressing dog off mine. On each occasion, the owner of the aggressing dog did nothing. On one occasion, the incident was observed by about another 6 owners who also did nothing. You learn very bloody quickly that your dog's safety is in one persons hands - yours. ETA: Oh, that's not right. On two occasions the owner did something - one abused me (standing with a dog screaming in pain in my arms) for kicking his dog. One snatched the dog's lead out of my hands (I had strung it up) and his dog promptly bit him. If my dog was attacking another dog or if it was just a huge fight - both attacking each other - I would immediately be in there trying to get my dog away while saying "im so sorry im so sorry im so sorry" to the owner. I wouldnt stand there and watch and I certainly wouldnt abuse another person. I didnt even abuse the owners of the two dogs that attacked my dog.
  21. Into whose hands should we place them? The owner of the offending dog that's standing back doing sweet FA or telling us "he's just playing" while our dogs are being terrified or attacked? I'll take a bite to keep my dog safe. Don't think for a moment that every dog owner that weighs in doesn't know what they're risking or what they're prepared to do to keep their dog out of harms way. Oh and if your dog did bite? You'd be the one staring down the barrel of a DD declaration. Way better to protect your dog by not allowing such situations to develop. I prefer to prevent attacks happening. Small dogs sometimes don't survive very long in such circumstances. omg. Yes I would prefer to stop attacks happening also. I dont want to stand there and see that stuff. its absolutely awful. I just think there are other ways of avoiding attacks than just trying to remove a strange dog and getting attacked yourself. Maybe pick your dog up and leave the dog park? Then ask the owner to keep the dog away etc... then come back in? I dont know. And I know you have issues with GSD because of your babies being attacked and its AWFUL that you have had not one, but three attacks on your dogs. I couldnt imagine what that would be like. Max has been attacked once and it was horrific for me.
  22. And I understand that - and I didn't think of it in the way that the other dog owners wouldn't do anything. If someone asked me to remove my dog I would immediately do so - I might not be happy about it or I might get very confused if I didn't know what was happening - but I would do it. In cases where people have been asked 'Can you please get your dog away' and they've replied 'its ok theyre just playing' and to that you reply 'no im serious - please get your dog away, my dog isnt comfortable and im worried something would happen' - THEN if they dont do anything... THEN I would remove their dog myself. I guess I shouldve realised that I was trying to point out that simply REMOVING them without asking the owner first is unacceptable IMO. I think you should atleast try to tell the owner to get it away and then if nothing is done... then remove the dog...
  23. Yep, they will. One method is by fighting. That's not acceptable to me, particularly when the odds are stacked against one dog. People take their dogs to offlead dog parks to run them offlead. Who says they have to want to play with others? Allow your GSD to approach my dogs and I'd be telling you call it off very quickly. Allow it to chase them and it would be copping a boot. A dog in prey drive is capable of harming another dog and I've had the vet bills to prove it. No offense but if a big GSD comes over to me while I'm carrying my Charlie and won't leave me alone, I will be piss off too, especially is you stand in a distant and do nothing about it. You should of called your dog off that person straight away, especially if you see that they are uncomfortable. I wouldn't hit your dog but I will definitely have words with you about it. I understand where you guys are coming from and since being a member of here I have learnt quite a lot about what to do in all different situations. I would've handled things much differently in my dog-owner time if I had been on here longer but in this case I didnt see a problem with what Max was doing. I do disagree with some peoples comments about a dog chasing another dog - maybe it is wrong - I don't know but I would like someone who is experienced in dog behaviour to tell me what is wrong with it and I would be MORE THAN HAPPY to listen and take the advice. If someone tried to 'remove' my GSD or hit my GSD and they got bitten (I know they wouldnt because of previous experience and Max's responses) - TBH I wouldnt give a s**t. And let me say before I go on that YES there ARE stupid people out there (like I used to be) who dont understand that a dog is distressed or that MY dog shouldnt be doing what it is doing - and some people wouldnt remove their dogs if asked...but I DO NOT under ANY circumstances think that someone should take it upon themselves to remove another persons dog - IF it comes down to it - LEAVE. Dont touch another dog that you don't know. That stupid lady could've gotten bitten by hitting my dog. THAT is also stupidity IMO. By all means - go and have words to the person. But don't take those kind of matters into your own hands. And I hope you guys are referring to 'a GSD coming up to my little dog' as the fact that a GSD is a large breed. Not because they are GSD. Then it comes under Breed specific S**t. I have read everyones comments on here and realise I have been doing things that would make other little dogs uncomfortable and in having little dogs that arent good with big dogs I know what owners etc feel like. I will be changing my behaviour from now on. But it doesnt mean I don't disagre with a lot of things that are being said. I should note that in an actual dog attack I retract my statement of removing a dog. I know people would've commented on that if I hadnt of said something. In regards to dog attacks I think anyone there should remove a dog... I meant removing a dog in regards to if your dog is uncomfrtable and thats it.
